  • In this video we are going to find out if my BMW E60 525 diesel will pass the MOT emissions test with the DPF removed.

    This is my BMW E60 525d manual from 2004. WIth a M57d25 engine this is a strong and mighty diesel engine with 177hp stock, but with the dpf removed, it feels like alot more!

      You need a remap after DPF removal dude... Why are you ignoring people who says that, it has nothing to do with glow plugs or module

    iv had 2 e60s still driving one now and both dpf deleted and allways sailed thrue nct with no problem great content bro keep up the good channel👍👍👍👍👍

    I had the same situation with my E91 318d. Everything was ok and it passed emission test without a problem

      Dpf emissions its a scam, I have an F31 330d without dpf and it passes everything on mot

    Best to get the dpf gutted out and to map it in the ecu so no lights on the dash

    Did you get the DPF disabled in the computer? It won't pass PKK if the engine emissions light is on because of tlow pressure difference. Disabling the DPF is probably doable via OBDII. It's an option there on my Citroen van "ECU" settings.

    Wait.. how did you see the engine temperate at 4:18?? Where does it say the temperature? My BMW has a similar gauge to yours and I can't see the temperature on either

    If you've had DPF issues, check your car is getting up to operating temperature.
    My 250km E91 330d had a blocked DPF a while ago. First i found glowplugs had all died (tested each one to confirm), did the module as well just to be safe.
    Then I found the car wasn't getting up to operating temperature and needed a new main thermostat, shame they don't have a permanent temp gauge on this generation of car as I would have spotted it a lot sooner.
    All replaced and DPF is regenerating again after a bit of foam down the backpressure pipe... until the next fault 😅

    You can easily hear that its empty if you use your knuckle an knock on the dpf, you will hear that it is hollow :)

    Can you show us some footage of it driving when hot, how much does it put out, can you see alot of smoke

    did you get the car tuned? my 530d has 316 hk 620 nm after tune, and dpf gutted egr delete n all that... but with more Hp comes more emissons. not sure my car will pass :(

      get good tune. atleast my friends stage 1 tuned and exhaust swapped e90 330d got easily through emissions also you can go drive car with 2200rpm for 10min to make the exhaust burn all the shit out

    Norway isn't in EU of course you're pass emission test easy without any problem like me in Bosnia which also isn't in EU and hope it wouldn't be for long time, cheer's 👋

    DId you feel any difference in the diesel smell from the exhaust pipe after removing the dpf? Did you remove the cat?

      yes smells absolutely vile .like cat piss . and when sat at idle in traffic the blowers are on will suck it in the car through the vents making you choke on fumes .its great fun ,,until you get cancer.

      Requires ecu editing for sure, as it will say dpf pressure low

    We used to do that a lot in the North, Finnmark before as the garages here were pretty corrupt LOL.
    But then the state clamped down on it, thats why a lot of car people up here prefer driving petrol cars and now with the diesel prices matching the petrol prices a lot of the time there really no arguments anymore left for a diesel, its filled with so much crap just to maintain low emissions its hampering its reliability and performance, whereas petrols do not have these issues not to mention NOx emissions are the most harmful from a diesel which the petrols do not have, but I think I will stick to my electric car, too tired to deal with the OIL changes, belt changes, too tired to pay 20000 kroners or drive to Sweden and have it done for 5000 kr.

      The cost of petrol and diesel is similar but the MPG/consumption is much better on diesels, especially turbo diesels

    the reason why its smoking on start up is because your glow plugs arent preheating the cylinders sufficiently. Smoke is unburnt diesel

      most common reason why dfp get blocked is duel to weak glow plugs

      Yeah it could be glow plugs, but like I said in the video. I think it`s the glow plugs module that does not heat up the glow plugs. Installed new glow plugs on a e46 320d years ago and same faults. Then I changed the module and all good :)

      @@FahreFilms if the module is faulty the plugs are as well. Tested on mine. So on the e46 it wasn’t just the module, but plugs as well but you did them before 👍🏻

      you should be ok as you wont have dpf as its euro 4

    You should somehow weld a pipe into the empty dpf, so the gasses can come out in a kinda straight way. With just an empty dpf gasses can dance around in that big thing before passing through. But thats just my opinion

      @@FahreFilms no extra hp, don't be ricer man... Just a more dynamic feel becouse if gasses leaving smoothly. If u gained hp thats already there becouse of removing dpf

      @@niklasnaper6596 nope. Usually ricer guys like to add up "fake HPs" like... "Ok, sports filter +5HP, straight pipe exhaust +10HP, oh, and this sticker...says NOS, so +20HP" I mean a dpf sure chokes the engine a bit, but deleting it doesn't really mean that much exact HP, rather makes the car a bit more dynamic IMO

      @@ovecboy Welding a pipe in the DPF will not give much more HP I guess, but removing the DPF helped alot no joke. After 300 000km I think mine was clogged anyways with made the car feel really slow. Now it`s much better :)

    Dpf have sensors for:
    1.Pressure before dpf element
    2.pressure after dpf element
    3.exhaust temperature
    As he dont have any wires and tubes to it, its catalystic converter. And for most cars dpf comes right after the turbo. Not under the car. Under the car comes second catalystic convertor.

      This engine has catalytic converter before DPF. EGT is connected to catalytic converter and pipe before DPF. Pressure sensor is connected to end of catalytic converter.

      Ofc this is m57N 256d2 since it's euro3 it only has a catalytic converter.

    are you sure it is a DPF and not actual catalytic converter? :D DPF usualy have to connect the sensor for pressure and catalytic converter like i saw in your video you havent disconnect anything from it, no cables, nothing

      This engine has catalytic converter before DPF. EGT is connected to catalytic converter and pipe before DPF. Pressure sensor is connected to end of catalytic converter.

    mine failed .had to move the sticker under bonnet ..was meant to be 0.51 .....its now 1.20..government limit is 1.50,,,,oh it smells...really bad .

    It smokes becouse you did not remove it from ECU, you need new map without DPF in it…

      No diesel cars only rev to 4k rpms gas cars rev more

      The machine said 3k rpm when we did the test, this was for diesel. They had another test machine for petrol.

    2015 onwards with euro 6 have new standard opacity at 0.5 you will need dpf to be fitted to pass in uk before euro 6 2015 cars then yes you have a chance you are also advertising health issues with particulate beware!

      this .. i had a carwas meant to be 0.51... removed the sticker so it went up to 1.50 as government guidliens.. the car passed at 1.20

      Same in Switzerland. They check Idle-RPM and floor it, holding a few seconds. 2024 we get also the Particlecounter Test for Dieselengines, all manipulations are detected 👹

    When changing the glow plugs and glow module on the M57 E60 you will be making a big mistake to not changing both module and plugs. Trust me on this

    Doesn't matter if the test is passed. If the inspection knocks against the DPF figuring it's empty you are not going to get past.

      It’s good 🤟🏼 It does not smoke at all when the engine is hot so emissions is next to nothing actually 🏎

    Dpf tampering is extremely illegal and that emission test is from 1980 regulation measuring just blackness of air. It doesnt measure real co2, NOx and pm2.5.

    In most countries it's illegal to remove it. You'd need to be caught doing it. But more smoke out of the exhaust would be a give-away

      if done properly there is no smoke. I have it removed + coded out and there is 0 smoke, only when pushing it waaay hard in third gear but that's like instant small smoke and its gone.

      i am no mechanic so i cannot properly explain this, but i have dpf removed over 4 years now, i do have smoke when flooring it but as any diesel would have. Nothing special, only short smoke and then its gone.@@connectlogic

    In finland they do the Emissions test by holding the car at the revlimiter for 2-3 seconds and they do that 2 or 3 times. They really want diesel cars to die here🥲

    In the Netherlands it would fail for 100% with the new regulations. We now have the particlecounter as part of the emission test. Without dpf it wouldn't pass, period. 😢

      Pretty sure netherland Got a NOx MOT test machine now, and if dpf is removed it Will read to many NOx particles and the car Will fail

      Yes, we do. We are using a particlecounter and there is no difference between a cold or warm engine. They test it on idle revs. The sooth has to be under 1.000.000 particles, without a functional dpf it would be much more higher. My own 330d has around 5000 particles and is very healthy. I still have the original dpf. It has a stage 1 tune and runs like a dream. 270 hp and 625 Nm. It regenerates every 400-ish kilometers and my exhausts are superclean. For me there is no reason to delete it. I own the car 3 years now and it's flawless. Also you have to pay 15% extra road tax every month if you delete it...😅

    In Germany any kind of strait pipe is committing tax fraud. But in this case, since it would pass emissions, wouldn’t be louder at the rpm of the test, and it looking 100% factory like yours does. Wouldn’t be a problem I guess.

      @@DontKnowHowToTypeIn2 not really. The taxes only correlate to engine displacement and c02 emissions. Removing the dpf changes neither. Its a common misconception

    In Belgium you now can't pass yearly controle with an euro5 even if you have your dpf on place, so you will never pass in a euro4 diesel car, let stand dpf-deleted one 😁

    You do know that the exhaust emmisions of youe car without the DPF is putting as much emissions out as a 3 lane multiple mile traffic jam.
    Its stupid to not have the DPF.

    Also, your car is no longer valid for insurance. Just takes one person reporting you to DVLA and insurers....
