  • This is a quick little tip if you don’t have the correct gauges to perform a leak down test. This is an alternative if you just want to know where the air is escaping from and only have a compression tester. This was performed with a compression tester rented from AutoZone along with an A/C Valve Core Repair kit I purchased for a few bucks.

I have 2007 accord v4. Has 285000 miles. Burning lots lots of oil. Fixed most of the leaks but still leaking lots of oil. Any recommendations?

Hey thanks for watching. Mine was burning lots of oil too so once I did the leak down test I found it was leaking from my exhaust valve and I tore down the cylinder head finding one of the exhaust valves chipped. Depending on where the oil is most present can potentially give you a good place to start but it can be leaking from different areas like your oil pan gasket, rear main seal, valve cover gasket and spark plug o-rings, crank shaft seal, v-tech solenoid gasket, variable valve timing vvt solenoid o-ring, oil filter, oil filter pipe gasket, and the least common is the dip stick gasket. So as you can see there are plenty of places it can leak. Hope this helps.

Hey thanks for watching. I just let it fill up and then connected it. Didn't really get technical about it. I just wanted to hear where the compression was being lost from.
