      He could have sat out the occasional cup tie against lower league opposition and he could have still have played 90 minutes in other matches - mix it up and give him enough game-time to keep him happy - manage the situation.
      Instead, leaving him to sit on the bench - and then asking him to come on for the last 3 or 4 minutes felt like the manager pushing the player out.

    Nothing more annoying that someone saying something factually wrong. Pogba started all the games in the world cup bar the 3rd group stage game. He only didnt start that game cos France already won their group. Souness just needs to admit he didnt like the person Pogba was for whatever reason.

    It's hilarious how Sourness said united should have kept Ronaldo because he was a "top professional". He refused to come on as a substitute and stormed off down the tunnel. He was on £600k-£700k a week. What's professional about that? Can't argue with his achievements and how he's looked after himself but you're well paid to do something, do it.

    That mentality Souness is talking about regarding Pogba is the whole French squad’s problem. If they weren’t so lackadaisical they would of won 2 World Cups back to back with the 3rd one in the post lol. They are not hungry to be ELITE. They don’t have the drive because they feel they’re better than everyone else already and it cost them in Qatar.
    They weren’t even focused and managed to reach the final. Imagine if they were focused 😂and kept that same hunger as if they were underdogs.

    Ronaldo in his first season wanted it. In his second season he was told about the Saudi league and started dreaming of reaching 1000 goals. Hence the scorched earth tactic to leave the club. Funnily enough helped United seemingly it put the fire on the Glazer's more.

    Man United at their peak signed just above average players among superstars and those average players stepped up to another level. That was because of club culture and leadership. Don't tell me Teddy Sheringham, Roniie Johnson, Dwight Yorke , Oliie GS and so many others were world class, but they delivered and became great.

    Totally agree with Souness on both points. Pogba an incredible gifted player, but didn't have the right mindset to become an all time great and so wasted his talent. Ronaldo did have that right mindset, and they should have kept him and learnt from him. A born winner, that's the mentality that sadly this United team do not have.

    • @strickers07
      @strickers07 4 месяца назад

      Yeah should have kept him after he went public with piers Morgan in an interview. It’s not football manager half the fan base turned on him and are still bitter now he had to go. Then you say about his mindset he was being late refused to come on left games early and went home some level of respect that to the rest of the squad. I don’t care how many trophies you’ve won that’s the example your setting to other players
