Thanks Sam. Just ordered one of these from the US (I'm in England). Both my keys have been bent by a previous owner, probably climbing in an out of the car without moving the seat (right hand drive steering), and hitting them with the knee. It's always worried me they might snap. I'll let you know how it works - due to arrive Dec 6. Great channel, by the way! Used many of your videos. I have the Overland 2006 3.0 CRD. Great vehicle.

@Stephen Thompson, thanks for your comments. I am sure the keys will work as well as I show on the video. Good luck and thanks for watching my channel. Please give us feedback from your key programming results.

@@samowens44 Hi again. Just a quick update. Key arrived in UK safely and I finally got it cut today. The information that arrived with the key suggested that if the ignition recall had been performed on my GC, the DIY programming would not be available. This was correct - couldn't be done. Irritating!
It's worth mentioning here that my Jeep GC is a right-hand drive model (for UK), and the reason I wanted a new key was because both keys I received with the car had been bent - more than once - so the blades were weak, and I was concerned one would snap and leave me stranded. The reason for this - which probably doesn't occur on the US (LHD) models - is that if the driver gets out of or into the car with the engine running and the seat not rolled back, it is very easy to bash the key with your knee. So it gets bent. This is only likely to occur on a UK RHD model.
Back to the unprogrammable new key. On dismantling, I noticed that the PCB in the keys (new and old) are removable, and although the retaining screw runs through the blade, it did not appear to be connected to anything on the board. I suspected from this that the coding was all contained within the PCB, so just tried swapping the old PCB into the new key. Works perfectly. Problem resolved.
Obviously, if the PCB goes bad, I might need to swap out the PCB from key number 2, and could do the same if I needed another key.
Thought I'd give you this info as it might be useful for other UK RHD owners.
Thanks again, Sam. Have a super Christmas!

@@Y666SAT Thanks for giving us a detailed layout of your new key programming and issues with the UK model Jeep GC. Changing the circuit board out of the old key was a great idea and seems to answer to problem of bent key. I am sure others will read all this and may help them. Have a great Christmas yourself Stephen!

@Joseph, your option then is to go to dealer and order a new key. Then with two keys, make a backup so you always have two keys.
