It was great to chat this weekend. I really enjoy your videos. I'm going to start filming my cast so i can see what I'm doing wrong. Yes, I suck at fly fishing!
Awesome stuff again! That Jelly roll is nothing else than the double snake roll as Ian Erik Granbo calls it (Dobbel Snakeroll) . We see this cast all the time in Granbo's videos. Some call it spiral or C pickup too. Am I right? I use it a lot. It's a very powerful cast. The speed it puts in the anchor followed by a constant tension stroke throws it out there like nothing else I have tried. That's the first time I saw the name Jelly roll. Keep givin' her the onion!
Thanks! I saw Simon Gawesworth do the Jelly Roll on Rio’s Modern Speycasting DVD. I couldn’t do it with a long line till now. I need to practice it more to up my game! Thanks for your support!!!
@@LineSpeedJediTimRawlins Haven't tried with longer than GF 54' head though. The 63' is in the mail for the 14' and I can't wait to give it a go. Cheers!
Whats interesting is everything I have seen has said to use the top hand as a fulcrum, yet your bottom hand doesn't move very much. That said, the combination of the two hands flexing the rod would make sense to get the most out of the rod's action. thanks for the video, appreciate your insights!
How high up on the grip you hold is decided by your lenght more or less, i am 6'3 and i cant hold where you hold, it just doesent work very well and obv a longer rod will cast longer than a shorter rod. ! feet makes a big diff.
Good video if I was you I will pull fast and hard with the bottom hand it will fix everything bottom hand need to make a sound against your body .if you bottom hand don't make no noises against your body you didn't pull right.

Good advice Tim, I solely work on smoothness as I only need about 11-12 strips max where I fish.

What running line do you prefer? Do they differ between your fishing setup and your comp. Setup?
Mono of any kind . Varivas Airs for comp casting. It’s the best

Haha, in the end of a casting session I start giving it the onion, then the technique goes away, and soon after I leave too...😂

Steelhead are rarely in the middle of the river 😂. They are however on the other side. Get a boat...
