  • After an epic quest to find a Rear Tined Tiller, we finally found the Troybilt Mustang. Purchased new, taxes and all for 900 dollars, we put it through the paces at the farm.

They've gone up in the last couple years. They're $1100 without taxes. I just don't know how were going to make it at this rate. Anyways, got mine from Home Depot. Had to order it of course. I like it pretty well. The shifter connecting rod could be better steel for sure. I finally read the operating instructions after I bent it a few times. Maybe that's why. I still may replace it with some 304 stainless.

Good tiller feel the same about the shifting lever but it shifts easier when it’s running, transmission on these normally do shift better when running

FYI: rebranded Cub Cadet RT65. old line Troy-Bilts had dual handles.

Take your grips off and spray hairspray on the bars and slide them back on. Move fast or you will only get the back on half way.

Wow, I live in Kentucky too and I’m looking for a tiller for our rocky soil to create potato rows and I found this because it has counter tines, to break up the soil.

I would highly recommend this tiller for that.

Do you shift gears in your car without it running? From a 10 speed bicycle, to a motorcycle, to a semi 18 speed tractor, you shift with the motor running. You might need help with the height adjustment, but those of us with a left and right hand, versus two lefts can handle it just fine.

How is it working out for you after 2 years? The Cub Cadet RT65 also has finicky gears and so does the DR Pro, so they all do that of that type of design.

You could always just squirt some spray glue down the insides of those handles to keep them from moving.

All the counter rotating tine tillers are out of stock! This is my first time being in Kentucky looking for Tiller right at the growing season.

Maybe take the boxing gloves off for more dexterity would help with that tiny pin. 😂

Any reason I couldn't mount a 24-30" snow shovel on the front of it? Pull the tines and slip a couple smaller free wheel tires in their place.

That’s actually a MTD/cub cadet tiller without Troy bolt branding. Not a cast iron encased troybilt original design.

Can you tell me if you looked at the bronco tiller? If so why did you go with the mustang instead? I’m am not sure which one to purchase.

I just purchased and returned the Super Bronco if that’s the one you’re talking about. Had it a week. It ran awesome and in hard soil it did ok, but in soft plowed soil it was not good. The counter rotating tines worked against the wheels and it would bog down and it was too much work because I was having to push it. Very disappointing. Probably ok for a small garden but definitely not for a big one.

I just bought one. It is a crappy *** Transmission, never have I experienced a transmission like this, I am thinking it will probably break the first year.

I imagine yours is a lemon. Mine works fine in the second year.
