Hey James, a local subscriber here from Auckland. I’m stoked to see your NZ adventures begin, I’ve been eagerly waiting for the series to begin 😂 If you ever need help with anything I’d gladly come give you a hand, so just let me know. Safe travels, I hope you enjoy your time here!
Good to see Sarah again in vid, she has a beautiful soul which shows in she smile. looks like you two has fun and adventure ... hope you both get the chance to do it again soon ....
Hi guys, thanks for the video Sarah you can’t get the smile off your face you look like you’re having a great time. Same with you James. Good to see you both so happy. Have a good time together. Thank you once again if you ever get to the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia. Please give me a ring or get in touch with me James and I’ll help out as much as I can , Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 from the big island 🏝️
I love your videos and I'm really pleased that you enjoy Aotearoa/New Zealand. We have a proud tradition of sailing - Americas Cup, Olympics, SailGP, Round the World, Sydney to Hobart ... !
As always James. An excellent video. No rush no panic just good time every time. Sarah you are a gorgeous lady indeed snd so full of life and a never ending supply of beautiful smiles. I wish you safe flight home snd look forward to seeing you again. Stay blessed always. James as always mate take care and I look forward to the next adventure. Keep safe brother Ken Western Australia 🇦🇺
Your photography is always top notch, always! However for some reason this video is very special. Not sure if it is the surroundings or you added something to your mix, in equipment or editing. I’m no expert but I’m impressed. Great to see you have a 1st mate with you, I’m a bit jealous. 😊
You definitely have one of the most watchable shows on RUclips. However I am a sailor so I am compelled by the content and your honesty. I believe it is your sense of wonder and your kindness that bubbles to the top and makes you a standout James. How do I view your RUclips interviews (Yarns) with other sailors.
I’ve spent a lot of time around northland and BOI. I was there one summer when it rained 28 out of 30 days. That being said, it’s one of the most awesome marine environments on planet earth.
The scenery was stunning, even the sounds of birds and insects different from here was interesting. Your friend is a sweetheart, always with a smile. Hope your engine rebuild is going (went?) well.
Very enjoyable watching you and Sarah exploring some of my childhood playground. We were often anchored in that bay, but in those days we would be the only boat there. A pity the weather was a bit scruffy for Sarah's visit.
Captain James does a jolly good running commentary, well worth following his travels. Reminds me of Slocum or Voss plus youtube. Sarah is a pretty good sheila. (Kiwi Tim)
ST, I should send you the cash I saved for a tropical vacation. This was so relaxing and chill. I felt like I was onboard with you. 13:04 - 13:40, the fog sequence, was insane. Fair winds until next time!!!✌
Sarah has such a good spirit. I like when she is on. Both of you two have the best laughs. The first time I noticed was when you got pooped and you were like "heh heh heh f*cker!" Thats an awesome laugh.
Great video James! So glad you and Sarah got to visit and spend time together exploring (at least a little of) New Zealand! The scenery was gorgeous and the weather made for some beautiful, if sometimes eerie, landscapes. Thanks for sharing! May fair winds be with you my friend!🌬⛵
WOW BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE SEEN YOU SAILING WITH A MATE!!! LOOKS SUPER NICE AND MELLOW IN N.Z. I LOVED THE NIGHT AT ROBERTS ISLAND WHEN ALL THE MASTS WERE LIT UP😍😍 WHAT A LOVELY JOURNEY 😍 LOVE YOU GUYS! 🌈🌎❤️
Really enjoyed your video. That part of NZ (Roberton Is) looks so much like Eaglehawk Neck in Tasmania (Blow Hole, Tasman Arch and Devils Kitchen). It was amazing when you said 'devil's playground'!! Both areas are located on east side of land masses, so maybe the weather side, and likely with the same rock types, same weathering rate (I must look it up). The similarity is mind-blowing. Terrific to see Sara again, it's been awhile. The 4 hour bus trip must have been fabulous, see so much. Can't wait to see your adventures in NZ. Love the heavy dark skies. The place looks really beautiful, it has a very distinct ruggedness to it, which is softened a little by the pretty vegetation, so many shades of green. Thank you so much and take care.
ALWAYS GREAT to come out of my Monday morning meeting and get the time lay back and catch your latest video. As soon as things settle down at work I'm gonna become a paying member. Thanks for making the start of a new week in this God awful heat in S Louisiana an easier way to tackle a new week. Have fun and be safe. Sean
Hi James. Welcome to New Zealand. Thank you for incorporating the Maori name for the creatures and place names. Much appreciated. Incidentally the word Maori is pronounced as mouldy. If you get your tongue in the right place, the letter "D" is not distinct. By now you've probably learnt a few more words. Tritea is a waka. Kai...as in by, means food. Moana is ocean. Kaimoana ,food of the ocean. Aroha...love. If you find your way to Kawau Island, that's home to Lin Pardey of Larry and Lin fame. She's now 79. Sailed 2 engineless boats around the world. Anyway you'll know that story. Anyway enjoy your time here. Take care.
James it's a real pity you hit the BOI (Bay of Islands) during the worst summer weather I can remember. We used to cruise for 3 weeks up there over the Christmas New year period with clear blue skies and fair winds for sailing. There are 350 Islands in the BOI. Pity the engine re-conditioner's let you down which stopped you exploring the other Islands.
Hay James, gosh i really do hope you come back in a couple of years or so. This is the worst summer that I can remember. Far out. But good to see you still getting out & having a look around. This also goes to you too Sarah, i hope our bad weather hasn't put you off. Take care & i look forward to what's next 👍🏿. SV Kiwi Lady Opua Bay of islands New Zealand 👍🏿
You might enjoy reading " voyaging the Pacific" and "passage to Torres" both written by miles hordern. Passage to Torres particularly interesting telling the story of the first beachcomber sailors who integrated with the Pacific islander community
Hi James, How are you? Many thanks for the great entertainment, it is great fun. One question: As I am not a sailor, I noticed that you are using the engine quite frequently in the other clips, although I am seeing some wind in the background. Is it because of the maneuvering, say, through coral reefs, which makes it necessary, or how come? I am curious, since one can learn a lot from your Triteia vids. All the best, Tim 😎✌🏻
Are you coming down to the South Island ? Some amazing spots there too ... Abel Tasmin National Park is a beautiful coast ... Marlborough sounds ... Lyttelton and Akoroa ... Milford Sounds .... all highly recommended
James, I was wondering if you would answer a few questions about the A 30? I'm thinking if buying a A30 and would like to know the what head room she has and how long the bunks are. At 6'3", this could be an issue. Thanks in advance.
I’ve never been, but it seems like you could spend a lifetime and still never see all there is to see in the land of the Māori people. Such a beautiful place!!
Hey James, I’ve only been following your channel for a short while an I’m really enjoying the content. When you pull into a busy anchorage is there a rule on how far apart the boats have to be or is it just polite not to encroach on others? It’s probably an obvious answer but I have no knowledge of boating/yachting at all so I hope you don’t mind me asking. 👍😃
@@SailorJames hi james, just looked up alt for attaching outboard to a yacht ...did u consider mounting a drop-bracket for the outboard on stern of Triteia?
A lovely lady and a beautiful country. Wondering though, where was this in relation to the Hurricane that visited that area Time Wise ? That tidal area looks like it would be a great place for clams ?
Shiver me timbers! Me thinks me squid mate is getting some booty! The lass seems very happy with your sailing performances. 😉😅😁 grinnin like a mermaid taking a sailor to meet Davy Jones! Or a siren seeing a course correction from a Gold Laden galleon right to em. Remember how you started on your voyage, Aye lad?
Engine Fund buddy, keep on sailing! London UK
Everyone needs a friend like Sarah.
It was great to see your friend join you. It sounds like she does a lot to support you back in LA. Nice to see her get to enjoy your trip too.
I love how your friend is constantly happy. A breath of fresh air, I'm sure...

Great to see Sarah…and you. Glad you had some bright days to get out and enjoy the region.
I come from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I like so much of your adventures in ocean...
The scenery was stunning, even the sounds of birds and insects different from here was interesting. Your friend is a sweetheart, always with a smile. Hope your engine rebuild is going (went?) well.
Another great adventure !
Beautiful island. Though the anchorage was busy, the island seemed quiet. Simply enjoyed the scenery and peace. Thank you for sharing. Fair winds!
Very enjoyable watching you and Sarah exploring some of my childhood playground. We were often anchored in that bay, but in those days we would be the only boat there. A pity the weather was a bit scruffy for Sarah's visit.

Wonderful trip, and the smile at 11:38 was so beautiful! 🙂

Always great to see Sarah. How do you manage wanting to stay at these amazing locations vs. continuing on with the circumnavigation?
I always want to see more

Hello just discovered your videos and love them and look forward to watching them all.
Love to see that you’re in a place I’ve been in. Russell, Bay of Islands. Though I only rode a ferry there!

Loved the video. Must be awesome to explore the islands as you sail on your adventure!
Great content as always my friend. Safe travels
Awsome video thx
Another awesome video, keep up the good work
Love the chemistry between you two 👍🏻
Bugger the tide is out in the lagoon, its real neat at high tide

In this video I had no inboard motor and had to use the dinghy when there wasn’t enough wind. If there was wind I would have used it
Are you coming down to the South Island ? Some amazing spots there too ... Abel Tasmin National Park is a beautiful coast ... Marlborough sounds ... Lyttelton and Akoroa ... Milford Sounds .... all highly recommended
I will be but not until the spring 👍🏻
Some of those high up shots you did reminded me of Mexico South of Puerto Vallarta
Sarah is just adorable. :O
brilliant
awesome...
The lights on the masts almost look like stars in the sky…
We had a storm here last week in Chesapeake bay called for 18knts at 40 kts and gust up to 50 for 2 days i saved a bunch of boats
James, I was wondering if you would answer a few questions about the A 30? I'm thinking if buying a A30 and would like to know the what head room she has and how long the bunks are. At 6'3", this could be an issue. Thanks in advance.
Sooo Thats why my Shipment was late.. 😋
I’ve never been, but it seems like you could spend a lifetime and still never see all there is to see in the land of the Māori people. Such a beautiful place!!
My good friend Keith is a 70 year old Kiwi sailor and he said he hasn’t seen even half the anchorages in Aotearoa!
Dammm...Freedom
Nice
Love your videos what did you use to support your solar panels I live on a laguna 33 and would like to mount panels like you

Yes, you should never anchor on top of someone else both as a courtesy to their privacy and to insure you don’t swing into them
@@SailorJames Thanks James.
Hi James. Loving your videos. What speed do you achieve with your ‘dinghy on the hip’? Also, how many HP is the outboard?
I can easily do 4 knots at half throttle , 6hp
Thanks! Makes you wonder how necessary an inboard engine is.
Entirely necessary
@@SailorJames hi james, just looked up alt for attaching outboard to a yacht ...did u consider mounting a drop-bracket for the outboard on stern of Triteia?
Completely unnecessary since the dinghy works fine and I would need a long shaft outboard for it to work
A lovely lady and a beautiful country. Wondering though, where was this in relation to the Hurricane that visited that area Time Wise ? That tidal area looks like it would be a great place for clams ?
This was before the big cyclone, that episode is in two weeks
What does your insurance cost for the boat, and do you need it to travel to ports? Thanks.
Who is the young lady? What are your plans to fix or replace your motor? Love your videos
You'll be having an early night tonight I reckon ❤🎉😂😂
A Casimiric Colosseum of the Sky
enjoy your lovely lady.
Perhaps asked and answered, but how goes the engine saga? Thanks!
It was rebuilt by JB marine, will be shown in a future episode
Did you have enough chain out.
Uh, yes.
beautifull lady , you mach perfectly together
Is that busted up solar panel still producing power?
Yes 50 watts in full sun
Shiver me timbers! Me thinks me squid mate is getting some booty! The lass seems very happy with your sailing performances. 😉😅😁 grinnin like a mermaid taking a sailor to meet Davy Jones!
