absolutely magical. I have sailed all my life and travelled the world. This video was not only your best from a professional photographer but a =n amazing personal look,at your adventures. You are a true pro.
Hi James and Rhonda. Can't find the words that say what I thought of this episode. Awesome, fantastic, enjoyable, and any other superlative that fits. Thanks heaps for this episode. Loved every minute of it. Just WOW. Thank you. Only one thing missing. Was being able to enjoy the smell of the different spices. But again, thank you. All the very best.
I have returned from a pre Christmas break away, this video was a true gift. It reminded me of my 3 weeks on an island off Vanuatu, they had similar canoes with the seats made from skinny branch sized wood, extremely uncomfortable to sit on, but to take your mind away from the pain there was a bucket to bail water from the bottom of the canoe. Thank you for this video, i will now view the others i have missed out on. Happy sailing and enjoy the new year too.
It is bizarre to think that whole wars were fought and genocides for spices before refrigerators and sugar was killed for. Must smell great. Cool greenery in the well. Nice block of wood/knife technique. Thanks for vid.
Wow guys, that was absolutely incredible to go along with you. Superb video work and you are so into what you are seeing that it rubs off on us viewers…..
How many people can say they'd be able to pick out an almond tree in a line-up? All of us, now, thanks to you guys! Loved learning about all the spices - seeing them in their natural state, and harvested, the process. Also never knew the history of the Spice Islands. I couldn't help but think of how some things never change - another country steps in and just decides to plunder another one, just because they can. Like I said, some things never change! Keep up the good work you two! And Happy New Year from North Truro, Cape Cod XO
I’ve just been rereading about Sir Francis Drakes voyage and his time in the Spice Islands. Must be such a cool perspective to travel around their by boat
Good video folks. I'm not sure if the men who gave you the tour & the workings of their cultivation techniques will see this, but i felt a need to say: thanks men, your time & sharing with us was *appreciated*. 🙏🦉 🏞️
Just loving these video's with you guy's, so informational , cause i know nothing much about Asia and Indonesia!!! Thanks for taking us along with you on this educational adventure and all it's beauty and wonderful people. "HAPPY NEW YEAR" to you guy's and your follower's, stay safe and can't wait for the next video..!
I just read a book called Batavia about a ship ( the Batavia) A great True story of Mutiny, a shipwreck, murder, greed and sex slavery...Awesome read! sailed from Texel in the Netherlands for the Dutch East Indies, to obtain spices.
Another great video. I just don’t understand why your subscribership isn’t much bigger. The quality of your channel and your skills are exceptional. When i was cruising we didn’t have RUclips as a source of income and expression.
@@SailorJamesI have seen all of your videos and I keep hoping I missed one so there would be a new one to watch, but I really should appreciate the volume you produce. You make a LOT of content. And it is all high quality. Your art background shows. Also, I buy every book you mention. But I've never heard you talk about Moby Dick. You ever read that?
The buttress roots on the almond trees are interesting in that they don't fan / spread out very far to have to support the weight of such a tall and large tree . Moreton bay fig trees in Australia send a lot thicker buttress roots out a lot further under its canopy to support a tree that grows to probably half the height of what those Almonds look .
substancial substance, Thank you James, I'm currently in Island Yacht II im pretty sure you started from around here maybe Holiday?? anyway thank you again
Not sure where you are speaking of geographically , I started sailing Triteia out of Newmarks Marina in Los Angeles Harbor. Left for my circumnavigation from Buton Chase park guest slip in Marina del Rey.
Great video did you buy nut meg to put on your coffee, cloves are good for your blood, tooth ache, put 1clove beside the tooth, it numbs the pain, put in your coffee/ tea
How many miles were sailed for spices? Nutmeg was a mainstay in Colonial America. I can understand the strong desire for things like this, especially medicinal spices. What i never understood was the lust for gold. It's actually pretty useless other than for making trinkets.
Gold is an incredible thing. It will never tarnish, even after thousands of years. You can pound it out to an incredible thinness and it is still usable. So it preserves what it plates. It is an excellent conductor of heat and electricity, a contact that never tarnishes. It can be used in medicine. It's more than just beautiful.
@@SailorJames you could well be right James but having been to Zanzibar several times when i lived in Tanzania the people off Zanzibar would disagree however it would be difficult to prove one way or another,,,love your vids followed you since LA, keep up the good work.

I was in that area two years ago but our trip didn’t have time for a visit such as yours. I wish we would have taken the time.

Yes we bought bags of nutmeg, clove and cinnamon
Hi bro.

I miss my Alberg 30!
Do you have hf. Would be fun to give you a shoutout ?
No I don’t have one

I wanted to review the Avatar after this video .
Sir James ❤
bro, you should do what that youtuber did from ASP , he shaved his beard ,cleaned up and his subs went thru the roof
Bro, I ain’t desperate.
@@SailorJames ok cool, we enjoy the channnel, lisa my lady suggested you shave, either way im sorry james
@@SailorJames ok. i'll unsub, just a suggestion...carry on sailor
I just lol'd.. shave the beard? Naaa...@@SailorJames
What an odd recommendation to suggest to a sailor.
I'm not sure that is safe?
Safety is over rated 😂
there was a time when you faced the death penalty for taking clove tree cuttings from Zanzibar and that is nowhere near the spice islands,,
Those clove trees originated from the Spice Islands at some point
