Thanks for another share of your fabulous adventure! Here's wishing you a happy holiday and a super new year. I'm so looking forward to your new experiences in 2025!!
Way back when, this and 1 other Island was the only place you could find nutmeg trees, no other place on earth. The Portuguese finally found the source and wrecked the population, took them over, then it was the Dutch East Indies company, the VOC, then the English came and instead, stole seedlings to plant where they wanted. Pretty interesting history!
Most interested in the stern tie - for example how exactly did you figure out where to anchor and when? If it's not too much trouble, can you provide the sequence from beginning to end? Alan on S/V Wind Dancer, Delaware, US
Usually when you are doing shore ties like this you only need to drop about 2 scope of bow anchor. I just find the spot I like, drive in and turn around and drift slowly out, drop the hook, then back up… then get a line ashore and secured. After that you can pay out more chain on the bow as you take in the shore lines bringing you closer to shore until you are happy.
Your experience reminds me of Marlborough Sounds as a kid. (1960s) my job was the dinghy boy rowing the line ashore round a tree and get it back to the boat before shit happens. I LOVED THAT GAME and got good at it. Many years later I revisied the sounds in my own boat as a solo.sailor. Nostalgia demanded I do the stern line thing again!! Ah hmm.....very very frustrating when the wind takes the boat all over the place. You have a dedicated crew member in Rhonda and so with practice it will become fun and easy as. BTW I loved your episodes in the Sounds. The tiller failure one was a thriller....I know all about the wind in that place. Love your channel and your gutsy energy and how you have blended with each other.
Seems like a long time since we met in Brisbane, now you're in Indonesia and I'm in Tasmania. I wish you a merry Christmas and all the best for 2025. Fair winds mate
I wonder where you guys gonna spend Christmas tomorrow. East Indonesia have many Island and cities with most of the population are Christians. Ambon is the best place.
I have to honest James since you made you tube star status n rec sponsors now your content sucks , I suppose it's hard to be a struggling solo sailor seems to happen to 99.9% of content creatures once they achieve star status the videos that got them their no longer exist, found a couple new adventures silo sailors keeping it real n stayn broke as they sail unassisted in thier journey , living life be the seat of your pants is the luar of the seas , now lost James In waves of boring shit back too the risk of the ses , Davey Locker is waiting 🎉🎉LATER
James content hasn’t changed at all. And sailing isn’t cheap. It’s not like James is doing a Nord VPN ad every single video. Pull your head out of your ass. Why do you want James to be broke? You clearly don’t want the best for him 😂
Very harshly put and I wouldn't say the content is now shit but there is a door walked through when channels decide to be sponsored, turning your forehead into a predict wind ad does change the tone, and he is a paid presenter now through patreon. Don't know about "jealous much?" as being broke and free without youtube obligation has it's perks too, still the selling of ones lifestyle as a commodity is a viable choice. How much would it take for a navionics tattoo I wonder😋?
Merry Christmas.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to video and edit a small glimpe of your experiences sailing to the Banda Islands.

The sea people app didn’t exist when we were there 🙏🏻
Hope no rats come aboard via the shore line.
Always a risk for sure

Probably the dumbest, inaccurate and most verbose platitudinous waffle of a comment I've seen on RUclips, and i argue with flat earthers 😂..
