I am not a sailor but love watching videos such as these. Especially these ones as I recently came back from my first trip to NZ. Thanks it really relaxes me to watch your videos
Incredible, I have never seen such completely prehistoric looking plants growing everywhere like That ! What an amazingly calm place that is, loved all the bird sounds. Thank you~
thanks for the laser range finder tip. i started looking at them and found that some will measure the height of things. seems like a great way to give you some piece of mind about going under a bridge...
Great vid thanks! You might consider an electric driven hydraulic piston arm for your rudder stock below decks. Or when you get one of your damaged tiller pilots fixed attached it to the tiller arm that came with your hydro vane as that rudder and assembly are much lighter and more easily driven by a tiller pilot, than a heavy rudder and tiller.
The reason I don’t have my tiller pilot attached to the hydrovane is because I adjust course regularly on the tiller pilot and I don’t want to have to climb back on the foredeck to adjust course or worse need to quickly stop the autopilot and hand steer
Stunning everywhere you look. Love that place, and seeing the evidence of Gondwana. Glad you decided to track across to Sydney, the wind is crazy down Tassie way. In the southern midlands, we have windgusts of 58km/hr (31 knots) so likely higher wind at sea.
Ha, I never thought I would ever hear CA CA and Awesome in the same sentence, lol. Hahaha. Man I love love ur channel my friend. Be watching you since you left LA harbor setting sail for Hawaii. Stay safe and may the winds be at you back and the seas calm ahead brother. Aloha my friend....
I would have some kind of warning equipment for shrimp attacks! What if a whale is chasing them and he is blinded by the size of the fishbowl trying to blend in with the hull!!! Imagine a whale crashing trough the floor😅 my grandad had a decent size wood fishing boat and he told stories of big whales coming to scratch their back on the keel of the boat. To this day I don't know if it was a fairytale story😊
Thanks for this video, James. I've bought a sailboat which is moored in the Mahurangi Harbour. Haven't been aboard yet but itching to get there ASAP and start living aboard in September. Looking forward to my time turning to moosh :)
Great place to rest and go Tramping... You can Imagine how exotic that place sounded to the first European explorers. Great way to see life in the canopy.. best way to see the birds is to just stop and be still ... Glad you saw them wait till you meet the Kaka- po strangest Parrot in the world... More like a ground dwelling sloth .. but a creature of amazing habits .. nearly made extinct by introduced pests. Its only been saved by clearing some offshore islands of invasive species especially rats.
Дорогой Джеймс! Когда я смотрю Вашими глазами, мне открываются самые замечательные и фантастические стороны нашего мира! Вы добрый и искренний смельчак и немного волшебник , рисующий только яркими красками! ❤
Great use of music in this video. Music is almost always a terrible distraction in sailing videos, but you used it to really add to this one. You seem to be doing a great job "perfecting your art".
Great video James, We Love Great Barrier Island, it's far enough away from Auckland to be a treat to get to. If you get a chance check out 'Bloke with a Boat' A kiwi sailor who has not long been sharing on youtube, it would be great to see him carry on. - Hope the Tasman crossing is going well!!
@@mscali6397 it was enjoyable content but now it’s on repeat and boring. I’m not the only one who feels this way. I’ve stopped watching for the past 6 months because of this
THAT was amazing. The birds singing. the ray eating, the dolphins swimming! Thanks!

Was there exactly 10 years ago. 10 days of hitching around and admiring the quiet beauty. Cheers Triteia!
Also love the beginning of each vid. Puts me in a peaceful place. Bon voyage bro! Aroha.

Rangefinder tip is clutch. I like your idea of logging distances in the logbook for peace of mind.
It has given me so much peace of mind in the past

Always learn thingS from you. Never would have thought of needing a range finder for peace of mind. Also, reminded about weight at depth 🙌
Fascinating looking place. Thanks for taking us there with a great sail and some very interesting "tramping".
What an awesome place, love the birds and trees. Thanks for sharing.
This one is very close to home...
I hope your current passage goes smoothly, but not Too smoothly so you get bored! Great videos as usual James ! Safe winds ❤
We lost the connection on predict wind just a few hundred miles from Sydney, last post 2/14/24, thanks for all you do James you’re awesome.
Hope all is well on board. Great to have you spend the time in NZ. Shame we didn't get to see you in Wellington. Fair winds.

The clicking noise on the hull is shrimps !, old wives tale is that you will always find good anchor holding when you hear the shrimps :-)

Dolphins are having a blast swimming with Triteia

Another great video James thank you for sharing are you planning to do the barrier reef in Australia as well as the Kimberly?
It must have been hard to leave there ✌️
Another great video!!!
You lucked out James you had that whole forest to yourself, you were like a kid in a candy shop
Does the rangefinder work at nighttime?
Mine doesn’t have a lit view finder but since it used infrared yes it works at night and they have models that have night vision
Seeing dolphins is such a privilege 🐬
Teach us about weather as in cloud reading please james.bendiceones...m
Do you sail with the autohelm connected direct to the Hydrovane or to the tiller?
Great use of music in this video. Music is almost always a terrible distraction in sailing videos, but you used it to really add to this one. You seem to be doing a great job "perfecting your art".
