    I love your creative way of actually printing out and reading the comments! Super cool!
    I'm hoping the Ninja V has an update that'll make the R8 compatible with it.
    My question is, once it overheats from recording, would I be able to switch to the picture and still get some shots? Or would the camera have to be just off completely for any sort of functionality?

    • @babybackmaniacleftovers
      @babybackmaniacleftovers  Год назад +1

      That is a great question. My assumption is yes but I haven't actually tested it. But considering it lets you shoot 4k/30, it would be weird if they didn't let you shoot pictures.

      For what it's worth, maybe you already know, but the R8 does NOT output a 422 10 bit signal to the Ninja. 8bit 420 only.

    Hello. Am I correct that Canon R6 Mark II can run much longer without overheating in 4K 60P, compared to R8?
    Second question - if I put a power-connected battery pack in the R6 II or R8 and attach a fan to the body, will this allow the camera to shoot longer in 4K 60p?

    Moving to Wisconsin won't prevent overheating cameras, I found out the hard way!!! ha ha I will add if you had Dead Broke BBQ frozen bacon you would probably get another 2 minutes of recording time! ha ha I plan to add a couple fans to my 2 main cameras this summer, air flow certainly helps!!! Great tests Justin!!!

    Ok I did a car vlog at 2:30am. Had a dummy battery and a DC Coupler connected to an USB C port on the Baseus 100Watt Power Bank at 4k 30. The R8 always overheated at that mode. 4k 60 gave me the same time as you. So an update from this test. First thing No Overheating Warning at all over an hour of recording. Second Thing I decided to use the Program Priority Mode so all I have to do is the Exposure Compensation. So after a great result and love the video that is posted on my channel I found the setting on Bulb Setting. I couldn't believe it! I had to go to the Internet and RUclips to find out what this setting is actually used for. My knowledge of cameras I do know that these products are vampires which do great at night but when the Sun hits it dies. So a new test. Recharging my external power bank and will use Bulb Mode again to see what happens. Cheers! PS Help is on the way.

      Interesting. That's very surprising. Please let me know. Also see my video on "acclimating". I think there is a lot to that. (It was the last video I posted on the R8 Before I started doing action camera stuff)
      Thanks for the report.

      @@babybackmaniacleftovers Okay here is something that I remembered about my Nikon Z6 II & Z7 II when they overheated. I was using the CFExpress Cards Type B for video. 4k 30 and they were overheating. So I switched to the SD card and it stopped. Today I got mad because my 128gb V90 SD card ran out of disk space. I had no overheating on this card at night. So I changed the SD card to 256gb and I got to 2 bars of overheating warning but no further. R8 is warm around the lens and the base by the lens. I believe with the sensor and SD card are heating up the camera. What do you think? So a micro SD 256gb was the only change I did and there was an overheating warning of 2 bars. Cheers!

    You answered my question from the earlier video. The R5 is an amazing camera. Canon protecting their cinema line crippling the hybrids is sad though. I don’t know much about color grading but I know CLog2 is better than what they give you. I do like the colors out of camera better than Sony.

    Haha I live in Wisconsin. I'm wondering if this is still an issue if you use a dummy battery to external power source? Or the usbc for power. I use an external monitor anyways which runs power to the camera without the need for an actual battery.

  • @ntsan

    I think using PD powerbank or wall charger will help too as it draw the power externally so the battery inside wont heated up.

      Fantastic cameras. My best buy has the 30 on display. Such a nice piece of kit. If I were to every jump ship, those would be the one's I would jump to since Sony seems to be ignoring the A7Siii and putting all the firmware updates into the FX. The Zv-E1 looks like an interesting option too.
      Thanks for stopping buy...and appreciated my visual aids...like bacon. hahah

      @@babybackmaniacleftovers It's not all roses. In exchange for 'It just works', Sony's system has a lot of holdbacks. No shutter angle, minimal exposure tools, yadda yadda firmware. But if you just want to take video drama free, none finer. I am an idiot and make good footage. Proof! Rent one some time and see what you think.
      Bacon wins everything.

    Great job good tests man. I did a similar test with the fan and if you aim the fan at the back of the camera the heat is mostly were the LCD and the back of the camera is you can go indefinitely,
    it will not shut off even at 4K 60 just wanted to let you know you can let your subscribers know that you can run it nonstop with a dummy battery and a fan aimed at the back corner of the camera. And then you have an external mic and you’re good to go.

    My R8 overheated while I was shooting stills yesterday. I was outdoors in direct sun light (about 16/17 degrees celsius) so not hot. I was shooting in 20fps (H drive mode), but was not using 20 fps as that was my error for not changing back to single shot. I got then got the warning the camera was overheating and it powered down. I turned off for 5-10 seconds and when I turned it on it worked fine for the rest of the day. So there definitely seems to be an issue with the R8, but I don’t know if its in the build or the firmware. Great tests though. Its just interesting that this doesn’t just happen in video mode. I wasn’t using any pre burst mode or anything like that either.

    • @babybackmaniacleftovers
      @babybackmaniacleftovers  Год назад

      That is really interesting. When you powered it off and back on was the thermometer showing up or was it just acting normal?
      Also, do you get the impression that it's not really THAT hot? Because that's how I feel. It's not that I don't think heat is causing it, I just think the threshold is way too low. That's why i think they could easily fix this with firmware if they want. What is your impression?

    • @pez942
      @pez942 Год назад

      @@babybackmaniacleftovers it was still showing up and showing quite high, but not in the red warning part. I kept then moving the camera out of direct sunlight and also switching it off intermittently for another 20 minutes to try and keep it cool until I finished the outdoor shooting. I think didn’t have any issue with it for the rest of the day shooting indoors in single shot mode.

    • @pez942
      @pez942 Год назад

      The camera didn’t feel overly hot to me, so I hoping it can be fixed with an update as I have lots more outdoor shooting planned and I do not want to have to worry about this mid summer when just taking stills.

    what would happen if you make a overheat test with the external fan of the Fujifim XH2-S? could it work? it's seams to be the same ecxact size of the Canon R8 screem as well the Fuji XS20. In my mind, that could work. But I don't know if it would work in the real world.
    People say that the the battery grip of the Canon Eos R works the canon r8 and it also helps to reduce the overheating problem. Could it be really work and help?
    Great contents! succes!!

      I hope so. Unfortunately Canon has a reputation for doing this. The r5 is the most famous and it turned out to be a fake overheating that was built on a timer...not on temps...but the g7x mark 3 and 90D also did something similar...It just didn't "make the news" so to speak.
      Canon makes exactly what it wants to make...and they fix it when we push back.
