I went into this very blind with mods and I'm sure I missed things but either way having lava at my toes stressing me out was pretty fun! Whoah this is cool! Also realistic because the world of Subnautica (not the planet) *is* in a caldera. Though, the slow rising of the lava points towards signs that the volcano is an effusive one, not an explosive one. An explosive one would have no warning, so it's a good thing it's effusive lol. Since the lava reached the top, I wonder if there would be an island that formed many many years after. It would've been cool if they had a sort of waterfall effect at the entrances to the Void because that's the outside of the caldera. Sorry I like volcanology, I'm a nerd 😂
That talk about explosive and effusive eruptions made me think of when I was in primary school. I had to do research on some natural disasters for a project and my group chose volcanoes. Thanks for sending me down memory lane! 👍
I mean that amount of lava all erupting at once under the ocean would have caused huge explosions because well the water would be vaporized quite quickly, all submarine eruptions are at least somewhat explosive due to the interaction between molten lava and comparatively freezing water. Don’t know what it meant about the volcano being dormant though since you see eruptions happening in many areas of the map even in the base game, so therefore not dormant.

The volcano collapses because of the magma chamber emptying, forming a caldera. After the eruption, a volcanic winter that lasts several years happens, then a cooling episode that usually lasts thousands of years.
Ahhh yes. Good ol Alterra Debt. Nothing beats it. It's simply a must-have thing. Y'know I bet they have these premier clubs where; people with debt meet. I imagine a conversation be like: "So, I recently, went to 4546B, Cured the Kharaa, Built a Neptune Escape Rocket, Spoke to the Queen of the ocean, The Empress of 4546B. Well, We kind of had a spiritual connection, but, most importantly; I have an insane debt! I'll never pay it off, so; i won't ever get landing permission.. ? OH? How long Have I been sitting in my rocket? well; i've eaten the bottom stages, figured that, metal can be molecularlised and inhaled. so; I'm surviving."
Just started watching this but live how much the intro has changed and that it sounds like the original pda voice actor has returned for this which makes it feel much more authentic
The original PDA "voice actor" is a text-to-speech program. The "voice actor" from Below Zero is just another preset voice from the same text-to-speech program.
The sub nautical map is the top of a super volcano. The dead zone is outside it thus the lava would just flow down the side. The gargantuan leviathan would have been safe. Not jr though.
See normally it really annoys me that Anthomnia scripts things in his video and then reacts to them as though they're a surprise that frightened him, but in this case I like it because the video has actual progression to it, and a lot of effort was clearly put into the staging of the video's sequences. If you're gonna stage stuff and then react to it in a roleplay-fashion as though you never saw it coming, this would be about how you'd do it. I kinda wish he was going all in though and just straight-up playing a character while he speaks instead of representing himself as himself the RUclipsr.
It's all really cool but like how would the dead zone be filling with lava like that for the adult to succumb?... Like, that super volcano must be so super it literally flooded 100% of the planet otherwise I don't understand how the 20km+ deep dead zone suddenly filled to the brim Basically it's saying Alterra digging in one volcano turned the planet inside out
Well the outer edges of the volcano leading to the dead zone would've broke allowing lava to flow but there would've had to have been massive amounts of pressure for the dead zone to fill completely so yeah I agree, the deadzone wouldn't have filled up like that.
Dude don’t act scared about something that is clearly scripted to not be able to harm you in any fashion. Don’t be scared of something that can’t see you. This was obviously extremely time-sensitive from the beginning and you took your time the whole way through. What did you expect was gonna happen? Just go in a straight line toward the objective and stop at whatever is on the way if you can, but with urgency.
Fun fact: the blaze leviathan was made by sock for 1 and is named after his friend and fellow RUclipsr blaza the bloop leviathan was also made by socksfor1
all of the lava becomes a huge island, bringing subnautica 3 which isn't actually subnautica because you're exploring a desert wasteland that used to be where the aurora crashed
