I agree, you run your business the way you are comfortable. It is good that you are putting 20% of your earnings back into the business in case you would need spare batteries which can be expensive and wear and tear on your equipment.
I run a Handyman business and I do the same thing. I have a some big company customers and that keeps the costs down for my small senior citizens customers. I have just enough work to keep me busy but still get time off. Good luck you are doing a great job. 😊

Hi from central Otago southern New Zealand 👋 this your business. Not a lot of young adults can say they've started Thier own business and that Thier parents are supportive of your ideas so you run it and charge what you think is fair and right because I'm sure you've figured out there are plenty of naysayers who wouldn't have done what you're doing at your age or older and think they know better. Work hard and work wisely. You're doing fantastic, well done you😆👍

Just found your channel.. great job and its awesome your dad has you out there working hard. Small bit of advice from a fellow gardener, ive been doing this job for over 20 years im irish but ive done gardens this size and bigger. Id advise to charge around $60 for these gardens and $90 for bigger ones. You have to take into account petrol costs, Grass dump charges and then taxes.. dont be afraid to ask for more as most clients will definitely have no issues if you have done work for them before. My oldest daughter works with me and she has her own clients for side jobs. Shes a hard worker like you also so fair play

Congratulations on your business model. You can charge what you want since you are the owner of your business. You can cut yards for free when you see the need in hardship cases. Continue to develop your skills with equipment and the knowledge of grasses and mowing heights during seasons of the year. For instance, you described one of the lawns as high. Take in to consideration the 1/3 rule. You may decide that it is better to mow off only 1/3 off the top. This way the grass will still look green and protect it from the outside high temperatures. Clients like to see green grass and aesthetics in shaping the cut. Determine what’s best for your client in their particular yard. Hats off to you.

Way to go. 👍 This and shoveling snow is how I made money when I was young. I had around 10 yards I cut
most every year and shoveling snow in Illinois I could make big $$$ at in only half of a day. I treated my
customers right too. If it snowed again within 24 hours I'd go back and shovel them again for no extra charge.
So I had to keep an eye on the forecast to make sure I wasn't losing on those deals. Plus, I used my parent's
tools so naturally they never had to cut grass or shovel snow as a return for them.

I do not know the pricing of lawns today. When I was your age, I charged by the time it would take, how hard it was mowing the yard, and the agreement by the person and I on charging. I ask the yard to be clear of objects, as for I had many yards, with no time to move things around. The people are happy with your prices that is all that matters. Some of the yards I see you mow would be 30 mins or under and I would charge $3. This was in the 60s and early 70s when the hourly wage was about $1 per hour, which seems to be about what you're charging now. Times I would get up to $10+ a yard being close to $100 or over today. That would be a yard not mowed in a while, having to check the yard for objects, and taking much more time. You are doing a great service, yards look great, and you should be proud of doing a service for the people and community.

Excellent job. You are building a great buisness. Many millionaires exist that started by cutting lawns.

I like that you have a formula for your charges, and I hope you stick to it for everyone. You seem to have a great work ethic, and a great business plan. Lawn care is a great job, it taks lots of hard work, made easier by having proper tools. Keep back enough money to buy a replacement lawnmower. You never know when a person will back over a lawnmower in the driveway(my neighbor, and his mower).
Sort of short lawn story, skip it if you like. I once had a 'kid' offer to cut my grass for 20, 30, 40. His exact words. 20, 30, 40. So, I had to ask "which one is it? Don't let me choose." In my opinion, 40 was fair, which is what I paid him, (he still never gave me a firm answer) but he didn't weedeat, edge, or bag the grass, and he even used my lawnmower. The 'kid' was a 20 year old dude, living at home, no transportation, no driver's license even.
His dad often came to cut my yard, and he charged me $50, but he had a riding mower he rode to my house(2 houses down), which had a bagger, he weedeated and edged as well. His dad was helping him out giving up nearby lawns within a walking distance for him to have some spending money. In the end, the kid showed up randomly, maybe once a month, and sometimes he left the backyard uncut. Sad, I liked him, but he lacked effort.
This led to me letting a homeless couple cut my lawn, they randomly knocked on the door. To me it seemed they lived in the car they used, piling the mower and all the tools in the trunk, lots of clothes in the backseat. I didn't want to embarass them by asking, they seemed to just want work. They were the nicest couple. My neighbor 'friend in blue' was worried I was letting in random people in my home. My ex-wife flipped houses and rented some out, so I asked my ex-wife/best friend to help, she got them in her rental home. Part of her rental lease includes a background check, so it was all good. I paid them to help me remove lots of clothes and furniture to 'donate', most of which they took home or sold in a monthly garage sale. I didn't mind, I was going to sell my home, so it all needed to be gone..
