  • Hi guys! Short one today... I need to make some room, so we're going to get this sweet old 1951 Kaiser Special tidied up and put it on the lot! First thing we need to do is install some unbroken glass... I had some help, so we decided to get it out of the barn for a closer look... Good thing Tom is here to make sure it goes according to plan!
Thanks so much to everyone who ordered a 1937 Chevy shirt! They are being shipped now! Cheers from me and Miss Frankers!
See you on Saturday for the SOS...

Hey Scott, glad to see the Kaiser catch some air and sunshine.... that body design is really something - someone sat down with pencil and paper, and drew what they wanted to see. Now, you've got some soulless dweeb punching abstract degrees and angles into a computer. And the end result is the overpriced, underwhelming crap of the 21st century. Enough rant - I just wanted to say that I appreciate what you and everyone connected with CWM does to keep the classics on the road. I hope to add to your "Mail Call" stash, and with my b-day roughly three weeks away, I am looking forward to getting my '37 Chevy T-shirt. Cheers from the Land of Lincoln!

In the early 1960s I spent a lot of time at my grandparents home in a small town. I'd accompany my granddad on neighborhood walks. Granddad held a grudge against birds who were fouling car paint and having a good throwing arm he used to fling rocks into their nesting area to discourage them from setting up shop. 8 year old me standing next to him one day reached down and promptly flung a rock into his neighbors red Kaiser breaking a rear glass window. Then came the long walk to their front door to fess up. Sixty years on and I can remember every bit of it.

Henry J. Kaiser built Liberty ships to counteract losses by German and Japanese navys. So the Kaiser has a grudge against Japanese. Good thing Ash moved his Datsun or the Kaiser may have Torpedo T Boned it ! 🤭👍 Thanks for doing something with it. It should park next to the Frazer as they were linemates at Kaiser Frazer Willow Run plant. Cheers 🍺🤛😎👍

If the floor and frame of the Kaiser Special is as solid as the visible part of the body appears to be, I think it'd be sweet to make a driver out of it with whatever engine that will run and move it under its own power along with the usual safety things like working brakes. Something along the lines of the Frazer. I'd say at this point Hunny Bunny isn't just a good sport, but an outright treasure. Love hearing Tom's stories about rescuing cats which makes me respect him even more.

Nothing like having a pack of willing collaborators to make the challenging extraction of a 73-year old relic from its its decades long Rip Van Winkle resting place look like fun. Well done, blokes and of course, CWM’s esteemed ‘Honey Bunny’ who keeps it from falling off track just like Frankers and Tom do. Can’t wait for Saturday’s adventures!

The Kaiser is a very good looking car for it's time, and the Fraiser too. It's interesting that they did not sell a lot better. Wonder what happened there. Did they suffer the same fate as Tucker? I remember that the Henry J was more commonly seen than it's bigger siblings. At least, in Corpus Christi, Tx. where I lived. Thanks to Scott, HunnyBunny, Tom, and Frankers. You make my day.

    Hi Scott,
I like the Kaiser, what a unique car design, with heart shaped windscreens front & rear. Would love to see it run and move under it`s own power, body looked fairly straight, little rust along the low line areas. You sure helped save it by keeping inside since some of the side glass was broke out completely. Honey Baby, is a big help, I think she`s a car girl 👍👍👍

I have 2 of em 53 Traveler and 54 Manhattan with all options to it . Loved to see you making a daily low budget restore of that Frazer years before. Would love to come around for havin a beer with you smart and easy guy. Keep heavy steel alive and in mind for the next generations. Hey Scott, never thought I be 9 years older than a 51 Kaiser! Those Kaiser/Frasier cars were odd balls back in the day and fairly rare when new. It's great to see a survivor come back to life! It took some 'nads to own and drive a Studebaker, Hudson, Henry J, Kaiser, Frasier, Nash or even a La Salle in my Baltimore County neighborhood but of course I gravitated to the guys that had the taboo units including the Model A's that were only 20 years old back then! Your collection represents all of that and much more! I drive a 97 pickup and a 98 sedan both older than those A's! Sadly I sold my fully restored 66 VW last year. Mega Cheers for you, Honey Bunny, Tom and all the agents for keeping the dream alive!!

What an amazing looking car, so sleek for the 50s!! I'd never heard of a Kaiser car, (only the one from WW1 lol) , I can't believe you let her sit so long, and once again you bring her 'back to life' with some cosmetic repairs and 'serviceable' tyres!! :) I really hope you get her running, would be nice to see TWO Kaiser winter beaters, you're show is definitely becoming an icon for this era of motoring, I still folks about how you rebuilt the Fury, what you started with and how you did the triple splice. Superb!! Loving Honeybunny being your new 'regular' on the show every week, long may it continue!! :) Wish you were in Scotland!! G.

For sure you've gone this far, do some more detective work and get her running so she like some of your others can move under her own power when necessary. If the Chrysler can, the Kaiser can! Man that Kaiser would be an amazing driver. The sort of 50s classic you aren't afraid to send into traffic every day. Good enough condition to trust it, but juuuust weatherbeaten enough that you won't lose sleep over paint chips or shopping cart dings.
I'd love to see this thing driving around again!
Speaking of driving around...my 71 C10 is insured and it took me to work, then from work to the RC flying field, then from there back home again without flaw. Ran like a sewing machine! I dare say I have the engine reliable now. Just need to change the clutch and I can start dailying it. As it is, I'll be taking it to work once a week...it's at that stage of putting one back on the road where it just plain and simple needs miles put on it.

I've not had the pleasure to be in the company of many (okay, any) woman who'd crawl under the carcass of a late 50s flattop Buick to claw out parts known and unknown. It'd be hard to believe that you can't get that Continental 226 to run, especially seeing the previous success with the Frazer. The styling is so cool. Like Kaiser said, "slap a Buick nameplate on it, and It'd sell like hotcakes!"

if thats a "Continental 6" they were in a lot of vehicles including Willys Jeeps

I've got to admit, that is a good looking car. I've never seen one in person so I never would have guessed Kaiser made such a car.

The Kaiser is one of the sweetest cars you have, gotta give it the old college try on getting it to run.

@13:40. To determine pos. or neg. ground look at the hole in the end of the battery cable. I think that the negative post is always smaller in diameter. My old '48 Packard was "positive ground"

Getting the Kaiser under it's own power would be very helpful but the projects are starting to multiply.... again. Thank You for the mid week show Scott.
Tom had good advice, it's 420 somewhere.
Best Wishes to everyone at Cold War Motors, their Families and Friends.

It's such a unique looking car, and forward looking in some ways such as the absence of rain gutters. It has to be on the road to show it off and let people see it. As for 'worthless', maybe in Canada but I'll bet it would fetch a pretty price in Australia. It's great that you have turned your gaze onto it at last. 😊👍

The Australians would probably find a way of converting it to right-hand-drive as well, to be truly unique.

What a sweathart, waiting patiently for all those years for her day out in the sunshine. I'd rather have a 51 Kaiser Special in my garage insted of a 51 chev any day of the week. (She's so charmin, even with the proverbial curlers in her hair and wearing her sun bleached housecoat...)😉😍
