The above points highlight positive perspectives and thoughts that can potentially change our lives. They emphasize the importance of positive thinking, adaptability, seizing opportunities, living in the present, and respecting others. These help us develop positively, seek success, and happiness in our daily lives. - Stoic Legend

Stoicsm and Ryan's influence on my life has been phenomenal. Just recently, I was stuck for hours at the shanghai Pundong Airport. My brother was restless and suffered during those long hours. I, on the other hand, remembered this video and decided to enjoy the airport. I literally took more than 100 pictures and made more than 5 friends, and I completed a short course on coursera. I made the most of it...

I've found Stoicism to be helpful and it's the philosophy I most closely align with. It's particularly great when I'm mainly concerned with my own actions. There's greater struggle when in a leadership position are you're not only trying to balance competing interests, but even competing needs. This struggle is borne out by the difficulties Marcus Aurelius and Seneca had in maintaining their principles in those spaces. Epictetus didn't encounter this as much because people could come and go as they pleased from his tutelage. He didn't have to compel anyone to do anything. Is there a good book that addresses this issue head on?

You talk the talk so well. But how do you actually stop worrying. It's fine to think and believe all these incredible quotes and advice from these amazing stoics. But putting it into practice is something else. I think being busy and having a busy life helps hugely with not worrying because you're distracted but what if you're alone, don't have many distractions and are sometimes a prisoner of your thoughts. What would your advice be then? My anxiety and intrusive thoughts are the worse part of being alive. I read and listen to this amazing advice but sometimes I can't get out of the cycle. Get busy? Is that the only way?

@Themis33 I feel your struggle and share your pain. I think that in order to overcome years of negative thoughts people need not only a Sage or teacher to present us with the guidance but you need an actual person to talk to. I believe that without the actual human contact one can’t overcome the demons that haunt the abyss that is our mind.

    • @Themis33

@@nadameify thank you for your reply. Yes, I guess I did worry less when I had friends to talk to. My dog is great at hugs but isn't really the best at conversation. Lol. I'm going to keep going and hopefully make some friends next year by pursuing different hobbies etc. I lost all my friends when I was trapped in a bad relationship. Once it ended they had all gone. My fault but in a way I'm glad as they were mostly fairweather friends and not people I had deep connections with. I would only ever want a few friends who were good decent honest people. And they're rare. Until then I shall keep strong and carry on. Thanks again for seeing my comment and replying.

I’d rather not see him interview any politician, at all, and certainly not those whose ideas do not align with stoicism. I admire him for his ability to articulate the benefits of stoicism, but find myself having to look past some of his personal views.

It's great that you're consuming good content bhai. 'Do not be unhappy before the crisis comes' means that if something bad is going to happen in the future, do not spend time being sad about it, because it's just a waste of time. If you're sad before sad times come, then you're just robbing yourself of peace and time. Let the crisis come and choose how to feel when you're in the midst of it. Peace🙏
