Which TEAM wins and goes on to the finals in your opinion? Team PURPLE, or Team GREEN?
I have no idea
Red
Purple 💜
Team Green is Better. Team Purples Game has a lot of wasted Potential
Team green
The decision to add the island with a lighthouse was inspired and totally won Team Green the challenge. It provided a visual anchor in the endless sea that was provided in the base game and also provided a focal point for the gameplay
It also just turned the game into plants vs zombies
@@Pr.BueJay And it also is a playable idea to build a working something in basically a day of work. Plus it had a cheery setting and more friendly interface. So i guess its kinda more cohesive? Just imo i felt it had something
as soon as they did that i knew i wanted green to win
yeah i thought that idea was lame
@@waves42069amazing opinion bro. keep it to yourself👍
Lighthouse Dev definitely won the challenge for his team with that addition
Totally agree
where does that start from.
@@astronaut5009 I'm guessing 6:30?
Init! That model was so nice! That Dev has some serious skills.
team purple could have got much potential for the gameplay, the day and night cycle is very interesting.
I liked that game loop a lot more than the round based loop
The simple menu on the green teams looks great, adding that light house to the game as the main defense point was a game changer.
While I really like the visuals and aesthetics of Team Purple, there's a lot of lost potential there and Team Green has a massive advantage in gameplay. All in all, Team Green easily takes this one

My Thoughts Exactly
true.
I agree
dev 3 on each team is just, DAMN I love what they did with what they had
Dude same!! The last purple guy kinda screwed it up though.
@@Indosentiasame for green. I like things in games to be organized and I also like more space.
Holy crap. One of the best starts I’ve seen in a vid. The guy that set up the base did a great job with the time he was given.
I absolutely love seeing these games come together through just the "little" interface changes done throughout the process. I love how both of these ended up turning out!
Green had the advantage of cohesion and an early established genre. That way the later devs could focus on polish and tweaking while purple was still changing how the core mechanics worked every round. Green felt like they worked together really well and created the most functional game
They didn't have an advantage they just did better.
Their last dev almost tanked them tho imo. Wrecked the UI, though removing the health bar from buildings wasn't a bad idea.
@@user-uk1ui8lm9i I mean they GAVE themselves an advantage by doing better early on
@@justinquiring445 ya I can agree with that.
Yeah there's really a lesson there that'll go unheeded
Next one should be 10v10 where there's only 2 teams
or no maybe the two losing teams against the two wining ones
E
The next one is team red Vs green lol
@@noblejesse after that
20 game devs work on a unity project without communicating
Where the heck is the last video?
What happened to the FINALS? It has been 9 months & the challenge was never completed?
I was crushed that the second dev on Team Purple didn't get rid of the defense button even tho he didn't want to take the game in that direction 😅 there could have been so much more of a difference between these games
Hope you’re doing good
100%! They have to convey intent somehow!
I felt the same
It would feel a little off if he had removed all trace of a tower defencd
That wouldn't make any sense, the first dev decided on the direction of the game by adding that button, you can't just remove his work and make your own thing
Team green for the win 🥇
Yeah I liked Team greens more
Yes
I haven’t even watched the video yet but sure
Look like a mobile game
Yes
Amazing vid lad, super fun to watch and really unique concept. I would love to see a similar vid but with more devs so the games end up more polished and or more time to each devv so that they can add their own touch and not having to sacrifice their turn just to polish bits and bobs
Where is part 3?
Team purple’s game had much better mechanics, but the time acceleration and the removal of the cables to connect things to make the little particles you need to click kind of ruined it. Meanwhile, green’s game was very simple in comparison, but the third dev added and improved so much stuff he fixed that. Overall, I think I need to give the win to green team, because even if the way the energy and cash management was implemented at the beggining of purple’s game was just genious, they just ended up removing a lot of that, and the final game was mediocre, while green team started off worse but was able to fix it at the end.
Yeah, i agree. It was kinda ruined at the end.
your comment summed up everything i wanted to say. it was hard for me to decide which team wins until team purple removed some of the features. it had a lot of potential.
E
Just what I wanted to say
Word for word my exact thoughts.
I kinda of wish they had a round two or more time, wanted to see these games developed a bit more
This is how i feel about many of their projects.
@@draglorr5578 Yea man, It's like just getting to the good part when they end the video, like every single time xD
@xecense yup. Every damn time. It's gotten to the point where even though I love the concept and the unique game ideas they produce, I don't particularly like watching their videos anymore because they have all these amazing unfinished games they just leave to rot. I get interested only to get screwed basically. Like Pingu Destroyer, game looked awesome, I loved the concept of a funny space shooter with minigames inside it. But when I tried to play it it was too hard, very buggy and lacking some content. And I know they'll never fix it. This goes for all of their games.
And so while i love the concept of the video, not a big fan of watching them anymore because of all the painfully wasted potential and the fact that they wont even go back for simple bug fixing. This channel is a graveyard. I've said my peace, that's how I feel.
Hope people are doing good
@draglorr5578 These games are all side projects for each of them. The games are "playable" and released but they aren't necessarily meant to be played. Its a fun way for the developers to show off their styles and talents outside of the pressures of management or potential buyers. If you see something you like from here, go find what else that developer has made. I guarantee you'll be more satisfied. This channel is for getting a taste of the developers. If you want to see their potential games, you have to go look at the ones they're putting their actual time and money behind.
my interest is so peaked into learning more game development now, thank you for your content!
I have to say, I like this version of the show even more than the standard single line of devs. It's cool to see the base game fulfilled in different ways, and it feels nicer knowing the base dev has a higher chance of seeing their initial vision come through in the end.
To really push the limits of this format, you could do a tree structure - one person makes a prototype, two people build on that prototype, then two people develop on that game. It obviously requires a lot of people, already seven for instance with only three passes, but it could be really interesting comparing the products at each stage
Super Pass the Game Bros. ultimate
Everyone is here!
There would be too many products to leave a viewer engaged, and they would just be confused after during the third pass. 1 or 2 similar looking but different games work, but 4, and then 8 and then more would just get too confusing.
You too got that idea from that initial graphic in the first few seconds, where we see a binary tree structure, yeah? :p
@@feha92 absolutely I did. Original thoughts aren't my style.
I also think it's unfair that in team purple had someone who was good at visuals and team green didn't.
i loved the part where blackthornprod added his own artstyle and final boss at the end of the game
Hope you’re doing good
The centipede was an odd choice though...
Bro doesnt forget 💀
I just wanted to say these videos are awesome. They legit have given me a whole new appreciation for game devs
Team Green definitely got the visuals down better, but in terms of actual gameplay purple seems much more interesting. Also Dev 3 on team green really pulled a lot of weight!
yeah, the level of who does what and which of them is pulling what, I feel like those challenge should be more quantify and qualify differently. Team requires like 4 different player; Graphic designer, Coder, Story teller and finally overall organizer / bug tester.
This is some gold content, just waiting for that 100 dev 10 hour video 💀💀
100 why not a 1000 devs 😅
@@Olat67 sure 💀
They'd probably be able to make a AAA level quality game
Both games look really cool, each dev did a great job! I think I’d choose Green as the winner, but Purple’s game was still really good.
i love these concepts its amazing just how different a game can be from a base template
Would love to see some sort of tutorial for how Codeer made the tile system for building the platforms! I think both games were interesting overall. Love watching these videos.
as plants versus zombies fan im happy the first team is leaning towards the genre more, missed opportunity to call it PANELS VS PIRATES tho. the more tidier game e is good.the other game's doesnt cut it for me, it looks messy
Both teams did really well, but team green's polishing gives it the win in my opinion.
Wow.... some very talented game devs in this video. I liked how well they built on each others ideas.
It's good to see that Codeer is still alive :D
Team purple had a greater aesthetic and I liked a lot of the gameplay ideas, although they could’ve used more fleshing out and connecting to older dev stuff
Hope you’re doing good
@@zacharynguyen7286 lol, r u a bot?
@@anzeigefehler6495 yeah, it will not respond you because it's a bot
I was really rooting for Team Purple as they had cool mechanics and visuals but I don't think they can call their game complete, they still had lots more to do before it would be fun, they had a lot potential but Team Green takes the win, they kept it simple a clean and their game looks fun. By the way I wasn't* expecting the starting project that would be sent to both teams to look so good lmao, good job to whoever was the neutral Dev 0
Hope you’re doing good
The simple statement of, polish and visuals don't make a game
I feel like enemy types would have been a perfect addition to the lighthouse game, as well as some different environmental effects to explain the sea aesthetic. Maybe diving enemies or enemies that move faster when there's a storm? Ooh and a tidal system that changes how towers work.
"i wanted to make a game about green energy so i thought war would be a good addition to it"
balance is everything
Team Green easily takes this one in terms of gameplay and I like the cartoony artstyle more! Dev 2 and 3 from Team Green really carried this one hard and added a lot of big features while Team Purples devs added more small features!
Personally, I had a lot less fun Playing Team Greens game. It was boring as you very quickly got OP and from that Point forward, it was just boring.
You also got kinda OP in team Purple's game as well, but the Visuals were more satisfying to watch.
Nah purple is much better
@@farbencut nah
This series is seriously my favourite one I've ever seen it's just so great to watch people make completely random games from the others
I don't think I've literally ever commented on a RUclips video before but the little rowboat with a bigass cannon just sitting on it is the best enemy that's ever been put in a video game and I had to say something about it
I didn't like how team purple dev 2 removed the text of things in the UI and replaced it with icons. I think they did a good job overall with their part; however I just have to say how frustrating it is to have to learn a bunch of icons for every new game I play. Colors and icons can help keep everything from blending together but please for the love of god, keeping the four letter word "Sell/Sold" on the screen next to an icon would not take up very much of the screen.
I love the purple team's game visuals, also, the mix of various genres and experiences of the developers really creates a fun and interesting game loop in my opinion.
hmmm
Man, it's always a blast to participate in these! Love how both of the games took completely different turns after it went through all of the Developers :D
I tried my best to add stuff only on top of what has already been built, so hopefully I did not ruin the project 🤞
I'd say you were the MVP of the entire video, on both teams. You added a good amount of stuff and all of it made the game a lot better!
You did great
I love these team building videos. Seeing the games they make with no communication, makes me wonder what kind of game they could make with communication. Also, I thought it would be cool if half way through the contest, you make a random rule to throw them off a bit. Like, incorporate a dinosaur in the game, and see how they can adapt.
Finally, Team Green won this one.
0:51 this is literally just, power & chill.
Despite team purple having a well made user interface and satisfying animations+visuals, team green tops them with gameplay, variety, user friendliness, and polish. There is a lot of capability with both games, and if team purple were given more time I bet there would be an amazing game like greens. Green just got it done quicker I guess.
I still believe in the idea of having 24 devs do 1-2 hours each on 1 game
It could be one hour each and be called "dev hour"
That would be chaotic in a bad way because without communication how does a dev explore the mechanics of the game in the first place? i cant give a good estimation but it would take at least 30 mins for a dev to review the overall state of the game and that leaves you with 30 min - 1 hour and 30 min to do anything assuming you are an experienced dev who can easily grasp the game's state. The reason the time limit for these videos is 6 hours is so that 1. they can review the game 2. create ideas 3. use those ideas to build on top of the game. The time limit would greatly affect the developer's freedom and creativity. While you could say its a "challenge", its really not because instead of a 6 hour limit where you are challenging yourself to come up with ideas that will greatly impact the game while staying in that time frame, you are instead forced to create something half-baked not due to lack of creativity but due to a outside force called time which takes away the "challenge" and makes it just frustrating.
Why not 5000 do two minutes like a marathon? Maybe it can be an olympic game??
1/2 hour is gonna be hard to play, read and implement code, maybe if it was pure programming time
Maybe once one of these challenges pops out a steam game of the year we can try your idea
I think the defense button made team purple lose the edge. The second dev had really great ideas to steer the gameplay into an economy game and I had rooted for it.
Nice video as always, cheers
You‘re pumping these videos out one after another! Thank you!
I can never understand which team making which game. I'm not sure if thats just me but you can add permanent color indicators on somewhere in video. Like frame or a triangle on top left..
yea, that would be kinda useful
yes, a frame would be great
yo this is such a good idea amazing video
@blackthornprod: is there a way to get the prototype you send to dev1 ?
i will try it myself for fun :)
i suggest you do some sort of indicator of what team is currently showing, because its easy to get confused
yes that would be verry nice
It really is but look at the chapters of the video for the team
Agreed. The first part of this video of they were both just making generic tower defense games that looked similar.
they have an entire banner pop up displaying the name every time someone switches which is every 1-2 minutes
This one was waayyy closer in terms of quality than the last battle lol. Awesome stuff by Purple & Green! Both games look really polished!
Exactly. Hard to pick. I would love to combine these two games in one, each has its own strength
Hope you’re doing good
@@zacharynguyen7286 Riolu is hiding in Brazil
please make ur videos longer !!! we genuinely wanna see more
I was really confused through most of this, not realizing everytime it swapped the teams perspective. I think having a graphic on screen to show which team is currently being shown would be really helpful.
Maybe make a "competition", where one developer makes starts making a game, passes it on to two other developers, which then pass it on to two more devs per dev, ending with loads of different, sometimes quite similar, games!
Bro that makes the video like 10x harder to make
with 5 people that would be 80 devs, thats kinda a hard ask
@@deionalexeigonzales 31... but okay
@@deionalexeigonzales It's an idea I came up with while watching the video! It's no command. 😊
Team Green has created a well designed and great-looking game that appears to be quite enjoyable to play. Great job!
Would have loved to see each dev react to the game at the end…. A bjt more of the final result and gameplay would have been welcome
10 vs 10 two teams next!
I really liked Team Purple's approach! It's as if they already knew what features they needed to add. Team Green started rough from the beginning but had a more clean and simple, nevertheless both looks amazing!
You could dispatch the losing teams to the 2 others
Team Green's game just looks a lot more fleshed out in my opinion
ahhh just came across this! freaking amazing!
12:10 that's hilarious. Really highlights how important communication is, even if it's just avoiding implementing the same feature twice (with different controls).
I prefer team green's game. Mix and jam really polished everything up very nicely! Great job everyone!
3rd green team dev made a great comeback. Bro added like 50% oftue features. Green team for me
Represent my Brah great werk! Kan sien jy is n SA dev net by die VariableNames & VS en nie VScode nie lol
Team Green might have more engaging or advanced gameplay in a sense but team purple definitely has better visuals and has this cool “last person in earth” vibe because of how isolated it seems and I like how it kept both gameplay mechanics from the beginning it makes for a sick looking game
Hope you’re doing good
i be real wit u
green has less advantage in gameplay in my book, but it is more polished and graphically pleasing
a straight up tower defense isnt fun, and then one dude did a qol update but backwards, removed more fun by reducing map size
progress doesnt mean improvement
purple is less polished, but id imagine itd be a little more fun gameplay wise
I feel like there needs to be more Devs on each team, both games could use a lot more polish. I'd give it to team Green.
Hope you’re doing good
This video idea is very nice, I saw now like 4 videos in the last 2 hours, and it’s very fun to watch, but one thing wich bothers me a bit is that the games seem often not finished.
Maby it would be even more fun to watch if the devs get like 8-9 hours to develope the game, and the videos would be longer, wich would be also very nice.
Nice Content, very fun to watch
Might be interesting to now switch, and have each team work on the other game. I.e. borrowing ideas and see what the end result is. Would they two games suddenly merge, or personal preferences keep them unique?
both teams did amazing, i loved both end results. but in the end i liked team greens outcome the most
I would love to see a competition where you provide five elements and three different teams compete to use those elements. Each team uses a different engine, unity, unreal, Godot. To see the kind of games that might be created by the people using the three different engines.
I would love to see a version of this challenge where the first, original dev gets more time so that the two teams are moreso making two versions of one concept rather than having two completely different games.
Moonleaf studio did an INSANE JOB!!! So did everyone else but damn, he added basically a whole game lmaooo
most would judge by what we have right now but in my opinion the better game is the one with the most potential and with lots of room for improvement green feels very done with the waves it doesn't leave room for much else however team purple is a game that could last endlessly with lots of variety and can expand over the whole ocean
Exactly. I made a whole paragraph on my ideas for it. It has... A massive amount of potential that could potentially engage users. I would like to see it further developed and made into an official game.
I would say team purple for me. It looks less flat and more directional, and I like the more complicated/advanced mechanics. The glow visuals look great as well!
Hey can you add a little banner thing in one of the corners that let's us know what team the current developer is on, I often found myself unsure what team was currently being shown in the beginning
Now, have all the devs collaborate on taking the best parts from both games and incorporate them into one game to sell on Steam.
Then give all proceeds to charity.
Team greens project was more polished and seemed like it had a better game loop. I actually preferred a lot of the art from team purple but it didn’t have consistent style.
While I love this series so much, I haven't clicked like on any of them so far due to the Replica plug. It feels kinda funny to endorse any AI performance software while the WGA is on strike in America.
I can't stress how much I love this series! Thank you for making it!
Team green as more polished version, team purple as more satisfying version. So technically team green, but I'd vote purple, if there were a lot more time for it cuz that style in core is more complex than Plants VS Zombies style.
The lighthouse and the turtles were so, so great for green and made it super close, but overall I feel purple won. Their game was much more intuitive, polished, and well-thought out. If there was just more content and land masses in purple's I feel like I could play it for hours nonstop it looks so chill and relaxing.
Team green's is so simple yet polished, i really like it
team purple started out well, I loved the thought processes that occurred, but team green won in the end by creating a cohesive game play pattern
Hope you’re doing good
Simple review: Purple look good, green feel nice. Green win.
Purple looks more fun with some extra work but green is conceptually easier to understand and is a better basis for more development.
Should do one where the team starts with a previous Collab game and has to make the sequel from scratch.
You need more videos like this
Funny thing at 16:34 only team green is written in a different color than it should be
I think I am going to have to give my vote to purple, greens feels more completed, but purple just has a certain charm to it
Green is also just plants vs zombies, and I'm mad no one has noticed it.
I really liked some of the innovative features team purple added, but overall the clean ui and polished gameplay made me prefer team green in the end more!
Team green! Moonleaf Studios really made it work, and the next guy brought it home.
I really love the team purple idea about day night cycle
I like the look and mechanics of team purple more than green, but both games are good!
I think they need a bit more time. But the games still turned out great. i think the lighthouse one wins. Way too much happening with those collectible orbs exploding around in the other one
team purple, I also noticed that you put yellow as the color for the text for team green in the competition "flowchart" XD
team purple because:
It sticks more closely to the original intent which I felt was pretty clear, in addition to having that "ooh I cant be stopped now" vampire surivors-like appeal that makes you want to keep playing
Awaken and moonleaf studios turned up big time 💪
Well done to all the devs!
These are easily some of the best videos ever
