A friend's dad had dementia and I actually spent a lot of time talking to him. He remembered sogns that made him happy and there was always a smile on his face when enjoying it. It seems music, especially love for tunes and lyrics that make you happy is stored within the soul of their heart and is unaffected by dementia. There is an Oliver Sachs film "Alive Inside" about that very thing.

My daughter Lydia is only 11 days old and in the NICU at a children's hospital, but I sing this song to her every day. She usually opens her eyes for a moment, as if to say "Groucho does it better."
