- Join me as i attempted to salvage a 2011 Volvo S60 with minor rear bumper damage... and many unknown problems along the way! This one is going to sting for sometime to come!
I've been at copart cars for a year and a half now and at the lower end of the market. I've done well on about 40% of the cars and lost on the rest. I treat it as a hobby so it's not a major one when I take a bit of a loss as I enjoy the process but it does get you down when you end up having to take a loss. Chin up bud, great video and you learn from everyone you do so onwards and upwards 👍
@@jamieasson5261 this! This is the type of person the world needs! Cheers mate, yeah I'm not overly concerned by the loss because thankfully a "rescue" car became available which will set me right. I'm more annoyed by my own mistakes but! I'll soilder on because like you say, it's just a bit of a hobby and fun really. I just want to document the journey and if even one person can learn from my mistakes, that's a dub imo.
The lower bumper with white writing could have been filled where holes were and then sprayed with Rattle can Satin Mat Black. PVC Cleaner may have got white writing off.

Yes another skill, I wouldn't try a big panel such as a bonnet though without assistance@@CurrusOfSalvage

Yeah you spent too much on this, given it's age and commonness. Shame you've lost money but glad you've realised your mistakes. I'm looking forward to the Mondeo, what is wrong with it?
@@Theworldsobvious tell me about it! But, one more car saved for now I suppose...? Ohh the Mondeo is a full on investigation car, definitely going to be a one to stick around for.
Hand sanitizer will get the chalk writing off, brake cleaner will also do the job

100% has to be brake cleaner, gets allsorts of sticker residue, glue and chalk markings off with next to no effort
Great video mate, ive been toying with the idea of having a go at copart/ebay. Its the transport costs that are putting me off its at least £150 to get one transported before i even start .
@@benbb5786 for Copart, to myself, it's about 20 miles and they charge £120 and they delivered it on a large 6 car loader that couldn't make it down my street, where as a local company charge £80 but I've bought a car privately which was closer to home and that was only £50... Hopefully that's helpful lol.
I have had a similar problem and managed to dissolve the white lettering with meths, may well work for you
