    It seems all red, canon, blackmagic, nikon... Ect shoot 12 bit raw log that is 16 bit raw linier. It's just arri 35 than shoot 13 or 13.5 bit log raw that is 17bit linier.

    The Red Komodo X was my first RED. I was able to get my hands on the last stormtrooper body from B&H and I still have no regrets. It's a fun camera to work with, it's small enough to be great for run and gun (even solo) shoots and R3D is definitely worth the hype. I am VERY curious what the future holds with Nikon acquiring RED (especially since I have a ton of Canon RF lenses).

    Komodo X is a brilliant camera… that Red overpriced. If they released it at $6000, it would probably have dominated the market.

    I think a Z mount refresh bundled with an E mount adapter would make it a better deal. Global shutter is a gimmick for most use cases and doesn't warrant a 10k price tag, "wow look the helicopter blades don't bend" nobody cares!

    I think the argument can be made for having the Z9/Z8 or FX3 and get around the large R3D file size while having AF and IBIS. I don't think the people jumping to the KX did themselves any favors. It's two different ways to. shut. I'm not sold on the A9III global shutter and the dynamic range it produces. I would rather have the A1 and go with that and the Komodo X. r growth the OG K or KX and the DJI focus system. That DJI focus system gives new life to the KX and OG Komodo.

    Hard to invest in a RF mount system, in a 10K+ camera (that I rented and liked) when you know that Red has been bough by Nikon who owns the Z mount that opens compatibility and AUTOFOCUS with E-mount. At 10K ? You need a return on investment that is quick and the right project for it. So no, no KX for me. Rental is fine.
    I know inflation hitted HARD the USA and budgets of camera are very different than in Europe.
    A refined A-Cam with possibily no global shutter but a fast readout (Raptor style), same frame rate, better low light, and a Z mount would be a winner.

    • @d_FLDE
      @d_FLDE 6 месяцев назад

      You can sell rf lenses and get z lenses in case you need to get a body upgrade ? 🤷🏼‍♂️

      @Horizons_Roses 6 месяцев назад

      @@d_FLDE I understand you but no info on any upgrade path, well Jared said that It was always an exeption. I can only think that Nikon will use its production capacity t o make the next Red / Nikon Cine cameraS to get the price lowered compared to Red at this point due to volume. So I don't see them supporting current line up of cameras to be honest, and it would make sense. And trust my I would love a K-X right now.

    • @d_FLDE
      @d_FLDE 6 месяцев назад

      @@Horizons_Roses basic setup is 15 k without lenses. You need roughly 30-40 shooting days to get the invest back. That should be in less than half a year or not worth the investment. Local rental prices with full basic rig is 450 where I am, even higher at other places, specially the US. And what are you talking about. They updated the raptor sensors to global shutter - do you think they will want to go backwards to build black magic cameras with a lower quality? You want better low light in the Komodo with Sony sensors? It is far beyond all the Sony sensors out on the market that Nikon is using. They do have red sensors and do not use Sony sensors as Nikon does. 16 stops of dr and no native iso - that is what makes red red. You can shift the dr - the true magic for me of a red. Hence why red acquired it - not because they can sell Sony sensors :)
      Most people I know do not care about the rf mount or z mount anyhow, they want pl lenses. Or you would buy a Sony rather.
      By your logic you assume they will want to lose all current red shooters to get a whole different line up of clients. That would be wild by all the current new cameras popping up. I rather want to see a Nikon with a red sensor. That would be amazing. To round it up. Invest only if you have the jobs. Rent otherwise. Nobody in our line of work is bulletproof proof anyhow. Ai will kill 50% of all the jobs in the next couple years. So you need to adapt anyhow. Short term return only. I am lucky enough that I had an amazing year. My x was in after 40 days due to the year of my life. And now that I have it, people want to rent it 🥳.

    • @Horizons_Roses
      @Horizons_Roses 6 месяцев назад

      @@d_FLDE Great for your return of investment, but I'm in europe, France, and not everyjobs rent a 450$ for a camera a day, hence why sony is everywhere here from small jobs to higher ends, and FX6/FX3 are dominating.
      Something to keep in mind, as for Nikon / RED, OBVIOUSLY they will keep their High End, but did you hear the different interviews Nikon made ? Did you checked what a Z9 can do for 6K$ while being a stills camera ? They want to tagert both high end cine and "creator like" clients. So yeah I can only imagine them having a 6K$ video focused ZF Mount man, that just make sense, and obviously they will keep a high end line. Again, makes sense.

    • @d_FLDE
      @d_FLDE 6 месяцев назад

      @@Horizons_Roses .. if you need a red the budget is there. I lived in paris for 15 years until recently. I had higher rental costs and the clients never argued. I can not say the same about Germany. Most jobs simply do not require a camera like the Komodo. Get the camera you need, not the one you think would be fancy.
