I'm viewing this in 2017, 5 years later. I hope she is alive and well. G. pulchra, such a beautiful species. I'm not currently active in the hobby, but I owned an adult female in the 90's. One thing to note about this species -- they can literally go forever without eating. Mine - and this is no joke - was bred and heavy, full bodied. This is where this becomes unbelievable, but with attention paid to a well maintained water dish she maintained body weight but refused food for about three years. This pattern ended with a molt which was disappointing given that I felt I had a good breeding. Never seen anything like that, and I kept a lot of species.
G Pulchra was our second tarantula, he's called Marley moulted twice and grown muchly! Thanks for the vid really interesting and helpful. Best wishes from Wales
Great vid =) G pulchra´s are gorgeous and i think it´s a nice specie for beginners , nice temperament , not fast or much skittish , weak poison , very easy to keep and it´s always beautiful to watch them grow =) she´s still not fully grown , is she ? i think they can grow up to 8" =)
Video Starts: AHHHHHH! Gorgeous :) Great Video ....I was just editing my G.pulchra Update vid & I Saw this pop up on my screen lol anyway she looks amazing :)Peace
@ThisKidVids They mature in 7 years aprox. however the frequency of feeding and high temperatures can accelerate their growth and at the same time reduce their life expectancy. Also it depends on the individual as well.
Before i got my tarantula i always said i'd handle it no problem but when i got it i was pretty nervous to do so which is why i'm getting a brazilian black as they are supposed to be handle-able. Plus there large and very beautiful! I've got a Guyana pink toe at the moment, seems to be doing very well i'm pleased to say!..
aww, I had one there probably the best spiders to get if your deciding to get a spider, not at all aggressive or anything really plus they don't run etc fast :). They also get to know your voice pretty fast! my knew my voice within a week.
My pulchra was .5 inch when i bought her. nows shes 1.5 and shell be a year old in july. how old are you and how old were you when u got her cuz when i go to college i have to leave mine behind along with my other 11 Ts so i wanna watch her grow up until then and i wanna know how big shell be within the next 4 years
I am just dreaming of this beauty. Have A.Avicularia and B.Albopilosum at the moment. The thing is, it is almost imposible to get G.Pulchra in Lithuania :(
What humidity do you need for these? it says on the internet 75 to 80 per cent humidity but mine seems to like it pretty dry to be honest I dunno? What do you think mate?
Nope. Their venom is pretty mild and their bite would not be considered medically significant. In addition to that their disposition is one of the most docile and nice of any tarantula you'll ever come across.
She is gorgeous! Looking forward to more updates of your favorite t's.

She's so pretty! I love the dark, velvety ones.
yeah I do not keep mine like that, I just give them water dishes and a light mist here and there like once a week. No issues.

So beautiful. This is gonna be my first tarantula when I get one.
nice, glad you like her! Yes they are.
For personality, they are very nice most of the time!
They like to dig up the place every once in a while.

her coat is nice.
how do these uhh evolve over time? do they 'recognise' voices and stuff? i have really no idea about spiders :) or do these still bite after 8 years

I have pulchra!
They are stunningly awesome tarantulas
I'm staring at my G.Pulchra while listening to this :)
My favourite T
Same here! :)
It's hard to beat this species. It's the best black T, it gets big and has huge fangs. If it grew a bit faster it would be perfect!
I sink my water dish to the surface level of the substrate so that the dish can't get pulled over. Really nice lookin t, ill have to get 1.
hi mate, what kind of camera did u film this with?
awwee she looks soo cute!! she looks like a stuffed fluffy animal lol
