I don't know if most people can appreciate all the creative work you do filming and editing videos like this one. It all flows very naturally when watching it, but there is a wide variety of techniques and angles used in presenting something that is very repetitive, yet not boring at all. The use of drone shot is so well done and not overused, which would be something very tempting to do for an amateur cinematographer. There is a lot of care that goes into making videos like this and I just want to point that out. Thank you Pete!

Thanks so much, Pete & Hillary. The gift you give to us old folks is priceless. At 80 & pretty busted up, my hay makin' days are over. But I've got a ton of memories that come rushin' into my senses every time you plow, or cut, or mow, or work in your shop doin' a restore. You always bring them back, including the smells that go with each of those labors of love. Makin' the hay & puttin' it up in the barn is the best! I wouldn't trade farm life for all the tea in China. God bless you❤️🙏❤️

Pete, what are your plans for your old New Holland Square baler. I retired from that company after 35 years of service. Worked on the assembly line in the early 70's making a model 273. We had 2 10 hour shifts running, each shift would produce 42 balers then 2nd shift came on and did the same thing. Of course this was before the round balers were ever around, and the little square balers were king. Then In 74 I decayed the 1st ever round baler New Holland ever produced with a draper Chain for winding the bales, but did not take them long to switch over to roll belts. Always enjoy your channel, especially watching you restore the tractors. My Grandfather was a dairy farmer and had Super C so that restoration you did on yours holds special place in my heart. Thank you both for all you do that bring back so many memories to so many viewers.

Creating dry windrows takes a lot of logic and math to properly do with the least amount of overlap. Then there is the final cut that should end up with a bale as the last windrow. A lot of calculation to end up with a baled field. By the looks of the cows munching down on the hay they truly enjoy the end results. No fustrating mooing just eaing. Great video of the solitary life of the farmer.

The haying videos demonstrate a very well polished and efficient methodology. I'm especially fascinated with that baler though! Having done my time with square bales 55 odd years ago as a young man, I can certainly appreciate the 'modern' methods. But part of me feels sad that young fellas won't have those experiences of working outside in the hot summer sun for 75 cents an hour... Damned hard work but at the end of the day you felt like you did something worthwhile. It's evolution I suppose.
Thanks as always for having us all along with you on your daily business!

Admire your steady pace...nice to see the moments spent together with Hillary. We typically try to finish hay by mid-September on strips intended to remain in meadowcrop...sometimes do a later cutting on strips to be rotated to corn. With the shorter days and heavier dews, getting the crop dry gets more challenging, although it doesn't bleach as much and tends to be softer.
