You made it look pretty easy, Mark. I am envious. Okay, jealous. I'm the same shape as you, might be older, and getting in past the steering wheel is a freakin struggle. I guess I'll have to keep my eyes open for a good deal on a T&T column.
I have o e of these factory installed but I enjoy your reaction at the end - I can totally relate to the easy of getting in and out when you tilt it up.
So why not eliminate the rag joint and tighten the steering up with a universal joint? Those nuts are 2 different sizes so you don't mount the steering wheel upside down.
Does the new column allow the steering wheel to move back closer to the dash than the original one? I'd like to have a bit more stomach/chest room in my car. Thanks and great job!
Yes, it allows the steering wheel to be moved farther away from you. If you’re a big guy I think you would like the difference. Next time you’re at a car show and you see a C3 with the tele-column, ask the guy if you can test sit in it.
What year is your Corvette I thought the only years that had issues with the steering column is where the 77 according to Ben the guy that's always on RUclips about vets I didn't know that 73 also had an issue with the steering column
There was no particular issue with the column on my 73 Corvette. I just wanted a tilting telescoping steering column so that I could slide in and out of the car easier. I’m 61 years old.
Mark I just purchased a reconditioned telescopic / tilt column for my 76. Like Michael below asked do you have any information on the steering wheel that you have on your column?
Oh boy, there's a fun project! Good work, Mark!

It’s a real job. Keep after it.
Thanks. My refurbished column is coming back next week and this will definitely help with the installation.

Yes it’s plain to see that I am genuinely very happy with that steering column
That is quite the project!
Looks good
Nice job, I think Im going to save some cash and do my `74 myself.Thank you!

Great video! Do you have any information on who makes that new wheel? Is it smaller that the factory wheel?

You going to love it Tux.
I bought the steering wheel off eBay. That’s all I know about.
I think every c3 should have come standard with tilt wheel. Unfortunately mine does not have tilt, and it's very hard to get in and out.
I agree, at some point Chevrolet did make it standard equipment.
Who did you buy the column from?
I bought it at the Jefferson Wi Swap meet.
That's one sorry looking rag joint .
HAHA, yeah, I was surprised he didn't replace that while it was all apart.
