    The Aqara TVOC Air Quality Monitor can detect the air quality (TVOC), temperature, and humidity readings of a room. It works with all smart home assistants (Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, Alexa, IFTTT, and more). All of the attributes are exposed with each assistant. TVOC stands for Total Volatile Organic Compounds, which are basically gases in the air from products like hairspray, paint, etc.
    The Eve Room can detect the air quality (TVOC), temperature, and humidity readings of a room. It works with all smart home assistants (Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, Alexa, IFTTT, and more). All of the attributes are exposed with each assistant.

    What are your thoughts on the temperature, humidity, and TVOC test results between Aqara and Eve?

    • @iFA88
      @iFA88 11 месяцев назад

      Hey there! I'm planing put that into a central ventilation system, when outside is smokie it should turn off the system. The question is that smoke smell (for example from burning wood) covers the TVOC?

    aqara runs on two button batteries, which probably means that it does not update the data every second. probably like every 5 to 10 minutes or so. also, one doesn’t know what kind of algorithm they programmed to calculate those readings, such as an average after readings every 10 minutes for 30 minutes or what. also, i read somewhere that there were firmware updates to address connectivity issues. so, how the product stood during the review may not be representative of how it is now. both of these devices measure VOC but not pm 1, 2.5, 10 so air quality is per use case and not the full picture of overall air quality.

    • @AdamsTechLife
      @AdamsTechLife  2 года назад +2

      That could be the case. I was using current firmware at the time. Thanks for watching! 😊

      @adiands850 Год назад +1

      Yes I think that's right. There's another YT group test of sensors, and the results showed that many of these devices update every 5 minutes.

    • @Brausmith
      @Brausmith 5 месяцев назад

      I agree with your comment. I have many Aqara Temp/Hum sensors, and they update values every 6-7mins.
      I wonder if the eInk display is on the same update schedule to conserve battery? And likely the same for notifications.
      I've found that all my Aqara sensors that run on button batteries update infrequently, but this also means they are extremely power efficient and last forever before needing replacement.
      It's the difference between needing a sensor that has better power delivery and therefore reacts quickly, vs a sensor that is power efficient and is better for capturing longer term trends.

    Without a known accurate testing device to use as a control, there's simply no way to know anything about the device accuracy for TVOCs.
    So while it is good to know if the results from a device are consistent through repeated tests; there's just no way of knowing if they're consistently right or consistently wrong.
    While I would not purchase this for proper TVOC monitoring, it at least seems capable of monitoring temperature and humidity.
    All the same, thank you for the effort you put into tests you did!
    You put in real effort and I appreciate your quality presentation of your methods

    Fantastic comparison! I'm not the biggest fan of how the numbers on the Aqara display look (reminds me of Short Circuit), but you can't beat that price, especially when compared to the Eve Room. Though the Eve Room is a looker for sure!

    • @AdamsTechLife

      Same here, I like the Eve layout better. Aqara has a $20 temp humidity sensor that I would recommend over this if TVOC isn’t important. The rechargeable battery with Eve is nice. Thanks for watching Dustin! 😊 appreciate your support!

    I ended up returning my Aqara unit today. It went No Response again and it won't reset without me removing it and reading it to my system. I will wait for the Eve TVOC/Temperature/Humidity sensor that has Thread. As soon as it comes out, I'll pick up one of those. I don't have Bluetooth in my shop so I'll either have to use something that has Thread, WiFi, or Zigbee.

    Can you do the Eve Room vs the Amazon Air quality monitor ? Im thinking about Amazon air quality sense it has a extra co2 sensor to know when to open a window . But wanna see how accurate it is against a Eve room

      @@AdamsTechLife true yeah and when it comes to HomeKit I give it to eve but honestly HomeKit isn’t everything, eve room only gives VOC, humidity and temp. Others give PM 2.5, PM 10,, Co or Co2, No2, formaldehyde, i Wii’s Dyson made air quality sensors , just take the sensor from the BP04 and make it a mini product ahhhh! But the more information the better, u can’t rlly do much with HomeKit that you can’t already do using IFTT, or Alexa routines .

  • @andy16666
    @andy16666 5 месяцев назад +1

    Before I forget, by far the best homekit air monitor is the qingping Lite. It’s superb, and delivers PM density and CO2, both good indicators that ventilation is needed. I use this for automation. For the purposes of automation, the Aqara TVOC reading is useless.

      @@AdamsTechLife I have feeling having power source attached to amazon will better help meet expectations as device doesnt have to worry about battery conservation in making readings, wifi antenna, zigbee etc. people are looking for real time readings and in theory amazon should come out on top.

    I recently bought the Aqara TVOC sensor and it was really disappointing. The response is not instant and the device doesn't update the status frequently. It is a kind of random. I needed to watch your video before buying it.😂

    Most of Aqara’s stuff is good. But I can confirm that this sensor is very inaccurate. I have 2 of them, one in a very clean smoke free room, the other in a sealed room where we smoke. They often read the same. Often we will be smoking and the Aqara will read “Excellent”. So it is indeed pretty terrible.

    • @AdamsTechLife

      Thanks for sharing your experience, that is interesting that multiple tvoc sensors were showing different results!
