Bring a whole new meaning to CoD zombies, CALL OF DEER: ZOMBIES
Lmao 😂
That is such a horrible disease. It breaks my heart for the poor deer.
There IS NO disease. There is an overpopulation of deer due to a lack of environment for them to survive, in addition to a lack of predators to keep their population in check. Expect the government to allege all deer are sick and prevent hunters from using venison as a food source. WAKE-UP, people.

I remember a few years ago we had deer with CWD. They were also calling them zombie deer. I saw a deer with half it's face missing just mindlessly walking.
Oh that is so terrible
That’s terrible. There is a video on YT of a deer with it whole back just gone and it was just walking like nothing was wrong.
Having half its face has nothing to do with CWD, all that is is a shitty first time hunter shooting for headshots, its fairly commom to see deer walking around pretty badly mamed, especially missing parts of their face since thats where alot of idiots and uninformed hunters think they should be aiming.
I saw another one with CWD repeatedly ram into a a concrete barrier until it broke its antlers and shattered the front of its skull. Then it just started wandering away. Freaky stuff.

I remembered a report many years back about something called a "wasting disease" that made the deer look zombified. This was being watched closely in the midwest and entire herds were culled to slow the spread. I expect this to be that same disease finally reaching here.
If you’re talking about Chronic Wasting Disease, then I can see your point. However, the illness spoken of in the video and CWD are similar diseases, though they’re a little different (mainly in how they progress, and how they’re spread). I was thinking the same thing, though. Very sad.
If you want to learn more, I’d suspect that the CDC would have a page on the illness infecting the deer in the video. I wrote a research paper on CWD and its effects on cervidae a few years ago for a class in school, and the CDC was one of my sources
This is not wasting disease, this is just a virus.

Hemorrhagic diseases (Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease or Bluetongue) are common viral diseases of deer. Both viruses are related and have very similar symptoms but are different in that white-tailed deer get EHD, while Bluetongue is a well-known disease of domestic sheep, cattle, and goats, in addition to affecting deer. EHD/Bluetongue are completely separate diseases from Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). EHD is caused by a midge that will die when cold weather hits. The cases are higher this year due to the unusually warm temperatures we've all had.

While I don’t live in the USA, I’ve learnt about this when studying animal diseases. While it’s a pretty strange disease that slowly eats away at the deer, making them show signs of being zombie like, it’s just a natural thing that occurs and all deer are at risk of getting it. They can also develop growths all over their body. Unfortunately, this is just nature, and the best thing fir the infected deer is just to euthanise them

I looked it up & deer-hunting season in Ohio begins Sept 24 for archers, and Nov 19 for shooters. They said on this video that it won't transfer to humans, but is it really safe to eat deer meat when this is going on? What if the deer you kill just caught the disease & it's not yet showing the zombie symptoms?
This is an excellent question and I too would like to know the answer to your question.
I wonder if it depends on the part your eating. I would assume cooking anypart is safe but I'd like to be sure. Some people use raw parts for numerous uses but I'd like the Federal Game and Wildlife people to speak about this or something
What a sad horrific sport. Shooting a beautiful animal with a bow or a bullet. No need to harm animals as they are sentient beings with a central nervous system. Can you imagine being shot let’s just leave animals alone. Go plant-based, find another sport
@@pegerickson I strongly suggest you learn more about deer and why we have more deer today than in history. Despite hunting and what over population does to them. Now I do not agree with hunting for sport but hunting for your table is different. What are you going to do when your super market is empty. It's coming.
Many of these diseases can NOT be transmitted to humans, but a few can. You need to learn to identify signs and symptoms. Take the time to watch the animal you hunt before just firing away at any movement. Always cook thoroughly and dont eat brain matter as prions will transmit. Much of this was likely in the same guide about your seasons. Otherwise google it or call your DNR instead of relying on the comment section for your personal safety. Im correct but dont just believe me.

The much scarier "zombie deer" is one with chronic wasting disease (CWD)
CWD is a prion disease, similar to BSE( what most people know as mad cow disease)
If you see a zombie deer get as far away from it as you can.
It's harmless to humans, the only risk is increased odds to have a fight or flight response, and being it takes over the motor function part of the brain, they're less likely to resort to fleeing.
I was actually wondering exactly that. At first I wasn't sure if it had been renamed EHD or if it was another deer disease. So ty for answering that.
Or shoot the damn thing and let it rest. CWD isn't going to jump from the deer to you
if a deer gets "Cow" disease in the wild , its man's disign .... not nature ....
@@calebmarek it's much wiser to be cautious. While CWD may not be transmissible, BSE causes a separate prion disease in humans; Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. Prion diseases are 100% fatal
