I bought a QX80 due to its quality and value…I don’t care about the poor fuel mileage as you save so much on purchase and low maintenance costs….plus I wanted a body on frame SUV to tow 8500 lbs
We just traded our 2021 Escalade ESV for a WX80. The Cad had 21000 miles. We had already went through two batteries on t to he Cad. I don’t know if the battery is to small for the car or what? But when the batteries go out you couldn’t even jump it. It wouldn’t charge on a charger. No grinding starts jump dead. Then our fuel module went out. Nothing worked. Stranded on the side of the hwy. The tow truck couldn’t find the manual over ride to put in neutral. They had to drag it onto the tow truck bed. We were going to trade for a Grand Wagoneer but after researching it had electrical problems also. These rides are expensive. People be careful!
I agree that Qx80 are under rated. QX80 is very reliable. Everyone talks about the analog display being outdated on them, but the fact of the matter is if those digital displays ever go out, what do you think of the price of repairs? I love my QX80, too!!!
@@christopherstreet2214 similar, its built from steel like landcruiser 200 so its over 3 tons and is very heavy and well built similiar to lexus. These are identical vehicles. Drive one yourself and you will agree with me for sure.
One thing I love about the "dated" infotainment system is the dial in addition to touch control. It's very handy when the car is cold (gets to -40 where I live), as no touch screen is reliable at that point. It only takes 5-10 minutes to warm up, but we don't always have that time to wait. Also, I can run it without taking my eyes off the road once you're familiar with the menus. Mid row seat has by far the most leg room of any of the full-size SUVs. The quality of materials is top-notch. For the negatives, the rear seat is quite far back, limiting storage space behind it. And they are quite uncomfortable for most adults. In town and avg fuel economy is abysmal. Although long highway trips are quite good fuel consumption for a full size.
Good job on the review my friends! That is one heavy beast of a vehicle. It might be old school, but for some people, that’s exactly what they want. Nice seeing Mason taking on some of the driving a s well! See you on the next review! 👍👍
QX80 these are very reliable vehicles. You won't go wrong having these vehicles. And the tech is way better than has been reported, too!!! Test drive one for yourselves. I was surprised by how well made and the power and the engineering too!!!
It's so interesting that all of the Japanese "luxury" brands have fallen so far behind with so many outdated products. This thing still looks good and for the price it's okay I guess if you can get a discount, which you likely can't in today's market. At this point anything else is better for the price, but charming and good looking yeah it is.
Yes, its as old as dirt. Even Lexus has given us a new LX. It is behind in tech, very thirsty, smaller against the Big 3, and the design is quite stale against the newer entrants. BUT: The V8 is one of the most reliable naturally aspirated engines made(the only one that was more superior was the i-Force that Toyota has since retired). It still has decent space, more offroading capability than most(again, the LX likely more superior due to suspension design and smaller footprint), and a substantially lower starting price. The only real concern for me is the Nissan Armada actually exists. Same powertrain and mostly the same overall experience(except dealership). In fact, the Armada Platinum gives up little to the Infiniti, even having more premium rear LED lighting over the Infiniti(those bumper mounted halogen turn signals burn my soul!). And one other thing that Nissan did that was so bizzare to me: They gave the Nissan Titan, which shares this engine, a modern(Mercedes-Benz designed) 9spd transmission that really helped with the driving refinement and acceleration, but left the luxury Infiniti and Nissan Armada with the old 7spd.
@@naveenthemachine i don't disagree one bit. The LX is such a let down. I don't see one redeeming quality it has over the LX570. Its cramped, losing the V8, interior seems dated already(especially the center stack area), and in base form it starts where this loaded model ends.
This SUV has such a good looking exterior (other than the incandescent turn signals), but the luxury in it js really is a shame. Probably the only major difference between this and the Armada is literally the Branding and maybe materials used
Can anyone explain why Nissan hasn't introduced a New Generation QX80 yet? Despite the fact 2 Generations of Escalade have been produced since the current QX80 was introduced in 2010?
They will introduce it alongside the nissan patrol. Nissan patrol will receive a similar update in 2024 . It will be a complete change ground up. Same will happen with infiniti.
I mean i wasn’t surprised when i heard the gas milage. All i could think of was the old Hummer H2. This is efficient for that vehicle but thats just horrible for todays modern standards. An 8 hr road trip would cost u like $900 dollars for gas to fill this up 😂.
I got one and highway mileage is low 20's at 65-70 mph (110 km/hr). Issue is in town fuel economy. It literally uses as much fuel to drive 30 km in town as it does to go over 250 on the highway. Very nice highway cruiser. But absolutely sucks Dino juice in town.
This car has a lot of the same things we find in a Mitsubishi outlander , anyone knows the reason ?, I am surprised that a car half of the price has more things that this luxury car
Funny how this vehicle is so damn old, but it’s still relatively modern. Especially compared to the old sequoia which genuinely was terrible. Yes, I know the sequoia competes with the armanda. But this and the Nissan are pretty similar. Biggest negative for this vehicle has to be the cargo/passenger space relative to the exterior dimensions. Vehicles like the VW atlas and Traverse have similar or more space than this vehicle in certain places. I will say thi isn’t terrible value for 80K, aside from the fact that it’s kind of old. Then again a loaded Denali can now top 100K 😂
And why do these reviwers always think that the speed of hatches got to so fast? To all reviwers, the speed of the hatches is good. There're just fine. Now I agree that the speed of the seats up and down is slow, but other than that. Everything else is just fine.
Old is the word to use. At least its not ancient. Look how long the old sequoia lasted and see if this is ancient 😂. Hopefully Infiniti doesn’t keep the same look for a decade… unlike some brands 👀
@@naveenthemachine probably in space wise the sequoia was better but feature, comfort and tech. You can’t put that in the same sentence with the old sequoia. It didn’t get push button start until 2020. Materials used wasn’t that good. It wasn’t worth the 60k+ for the fully loaded trim. That generation came out in 2008 and been the same for years.
The QX80 is nice and pretty competitive… if this was 2018 or 2019. However now it seems pretty irrelevant. Especially when you look at the new escalade or navigator. I mean when u look at the Armada these 2 differ in little to no ways as far as features and styling is nearly the same minus the lights. Both also have that large underbite in the back as well 😬🫤😅. But when this being called luxury is quite a stretch when a GMC yukon is better and the armada is equivalent to this. I dont think this is worth 90k now because i would go spend that on a Tahoe High country and it’ll still be better. But to keep it short and sweet. Its just really old. Its aging and its obvious. Hopefully 2024 this will come redesign or what i think most likely it getting discontinued.
I don't get these big trucks with Electronic breaks and engine cut off at every light, its super annoying for sure. My Son had a dead battery in his Ram and could not move his truck out of the driveway by putting it in Manual and disenguaging the parking break like you can wirh a manual parking break, He needed to disengage his electronic parking break in order to get his other car in the garage so he can get head to rhe auto store and get the battery replaced on his truck, but because electronic break has no way of disengaging unless its powered up he had to call a cab to go to the auto store to pick up a battery. Electronic parking break and auto shut off at a light is terrible. The QX80 does not have Electronic parking break or Auto engine shut off at a light. I'm glad infiniti is not going with those horrible annoying features.
Nissan (Infinity), Honda, and Toyota needs to take notes from their Korean counterparts in Hyundai/Kia. While they are looking fresh and have the latest tech, the Japanese are way behind. It looks stale and dated. Look at this car. It looks EXACTLY like it was in 2014. At one point, I wanted this car. But it's so dated. The interior is barely better than it was before. The screen still looks dated. Analog dials? Cmon. Really? You're a 2023, it should be all screen like the ESQ. Nobody's going to buy this. Not for north of $80Gs. Going to a Genesis GV80 would be a much better buy.
I tend to disagree. The Japanese designs hold up well over time IMO and the Korean ones, while they look great to start, wear out much quicker and I grow out of them whereas I keep coming back to the Japanese builds. Oh well, to each their own. :)
