I completely missed the rule that each production track starts on 1! No wonder I have been finding it so hard to do anything in the early game! Thanks you Rodney for another excellent video!
Only with the standard game as explained in this video. With the Corporate Era (extended game), "players start with no extra production of resources" (except from Prelude, ofc).
I got this game for my birthday last spring and it has quickly become one of my favorites. I got Prelude and Hellas/Elysium expansions at Christmas. This video will be a great resource to tell my friends to review before playing with them. Excellent tutorial once again, Rodney.
Thank you for video! This was the most detailed info about rules, also with explanation of consequences of actions. Surprisingly, despite that game is seems to well known and played, most of videos has just some review and very basic infos, which do not help, but confuse... So ones more: thank you for your work!
Finally, been waiting for so long. Waited for a month before deciding to read the rulebook and playing. It seemed very complex at first but your video will help others so much in getting over the first hurdle. I will be playing again soon, with some right rules now.
Uh oh. I am so glad you did this video, Rodney. But now I REALLY want to get this game...... ugh. We just got Scythe and two upgrades, Wingspan, and Wildlands. So we agreed to hang back for a little bit. Now, I don’t know if I have the fortitude to resist this game!!!! Nice work!!!!
We got the Trayz yesterday and played with them last night. Didn’t get to finish, but oh man, what a great accessory. Wife still LOVES the game!!! She can’t stop thinking about it. Or beating me at it.
@@WatchItPlayed absolutely true!!! I am really stupid. I only ordered 4, thinking that we would only have at most 4 people playing. But there's only 5 players possible!! My only concern is the stickers are not staying on very well.....
Rodney, she had a score of like 168 last time. When we play, there is not usually a single hex that has not been terraformed. We tend to play games in a different way than most people; almost cooperating with each other, and trying to maximize the play time. ( like in Scythe, we almost alw end up with 140 to 155 dollars). We just have fun playing the games and being able to spend time together.....
Thank you so much! Your guide was really excellent, and with your help we could immediatly play the game, with only very minor checks every now and then in the rulebook!
Thank you so much Rodney! I tried teaching this a month ago without your assistant and really flubbed a major rule, this will help a lot :) much appreciated
Was in two minds about ordering this game because it was a big jump up in game weight for what I’m used to, but this video is fantastic and makes everything look so easy. Cheers Rodney, the game is here and I can’t wait to get it on the table.
This is very helpful. I was going through the rules trying to figure out how to explain it when I play with my grandfather today and commented to myself that it somehow felt more confusing than Twilight Struggle (which we played recently). @@WatchItPlayed I'm looking for help on how to use corporation tags. I see they can be used in some cards and on milestones. However other then that some tags seem useless.
@@WitchDoctor87 I can't really answer this without going through the cards and finding the ones that relate to the various tags, but in general terms, there are cards that score points or have effects based on tags - and some can be quite rarely used. The game has a variety of expansions now and some of those might use some of those more obscure tags more often.

Very kind of you to say!
Just bought the game. Another Master Class from Rodney. Thank you so much you Hero !
Have a great time playing!
Thank you so much for this!! I've had the game sitting on my shelf for a while and haven't gotten around to reading the instructions. This will make it so much easier to get into it and play with my friends, as I'll be able to send them a link to the video to help get things going!!
I hope you find it helpful and have a great time with the game!
I completely missed the rule that each production track starts on 1! No wonder I have been finding it so hard to do anything in the early game! Thanks you Rodney for another excellent video!
Very glad this was helpful!
Thank you Mark! Glad to hear you've been enjoying the game!
Thank you for video! This was the most detailed info about rules, also with explanation of consequences of actions. Surprisingly, despite that game is seems to well known and played, most of videos has just some review and very basic infos, which do not help, but confuse... So ones more: thank you for your work!
Very kind of you to say - glad you found it helpful!
The best board gaming tutorial channel on youtube.
That's very kind of you to say!
Finally, been waiting for so long. Waited for a month before deciding to read the rulebook and playing. It seemed very complex at first but your video will help others so much in getting over the first hurdle. I will be playing again soon, with some right rules now.
So glad to hear it's been helpful!
I think you might dig this one Frank :)
@@WatchItPlayed I am sure that I will!!!!!
Great work, I haven't come across a video previously with a host that could explain a game so well.
Very kind of you to say Dion - thank you!
Wow! What an excellent and clear instruction in how to play the game, Rodney. You have a real talent there. Great stuff.
Very kind of you to say Alex, very glad you enjoyed!
Thank you, out of all the explanations I've watched yours was the most clear and easy to follow
Thank you kindly - so glad you liked it!
We got the Trayz yesterday and played with them last night. Didn’t get to finish, but oh man, what a great accessory. Wife still LOVES the game!!! She can’t stop thinking about it. Or beating me at it.
They make quite a difference!
@@WatchItPlayed absolutely true!!! I am really stupid. I only ordered 4, thinking that we would only have at most 4 people playing. But there's only 5 players possible!! My only concern is the stickers are not staying on very well.....
Frank Minogue Contact GameTrayz for replacement stickers.
Hope you have a great time playing!
Thank you so much Rodney! I tried teaching this a month ago without your assistant and really flubbed a major rule, this will help a lot :) much appreciated
I hope this helps!
Was in two minds about ordering this game because it was a big jump up in game weight for what I’m used to, but this video is fantastic and makes everything look so easy. Cheers Rodney, the game is here and I can’t wait to get it on the table.
So glad the video was helpful - have a great time playing!
This is very helpful. I was going through the rules trying to figure out how to explain it when I play with my grandfather today and commented to myself that it somehow felt more confusing than Twilight Struggle (which we played recently). I may just show this video to him since I feel like I may risk forgetting rules or being unclear if I try to further synthesize it
I hope you find it helpful and both have a good time playing!
Yet again, another brilliantly executed explanation Rodney. This will help BIG TIME this week when we add Terraforming Mars to our tables :-)
Ah, so nice to hear. I hope you have a great time playing!
Thank you, Rodney. I don't know what I would do without you.
So glad to know this was helpful - have fun playing!
Thank you very much for your tutorial. We were struggling to get through the rulebook - basically because we didn't find the time to do it - but with this video we feel ready to try it out. Thanks!!!
So glad to know this was helpful - have a great time playing!
Real easy to listen to and understand. Another great video. Thanks Rodney. I bought many games after watching several of your various videos.
Thanks Steve, really nice to know that these have been helpful!
Seriously Rodney - I got some new games from my tax return (2nd Christmas) this year including this game and I was like...surely Rodney has a video for this...YUP published 2 days ago!!!! Thanks for what you do, my wife and I enjoy watching these before we dig into a new game - makes it SO much easier to get right into it. Also for future recommendations...Gloomhaven watch it played including walk through of first mission....I know I know - it's a super small request.
So glad this timing worked out :) Have a great time playing!
I just bought this and was utterly bamboozled by the rules. Thank you for guiding us through ☺
You're very welcome Nina - glad this was helpful!
Then you so much for this! I really wanted this game but I have dyscalculia so it was such a challenge trying to work out the instructions.
You did a great job explaining!
So nice to hear this was helpful - I hope you have a lot of fun playing!
I would love if you did an Anachrony - How to play.
But I suppose Im asking a bit much of you. Great video as always Rodney, you are making us boardgamers a huge favor!
About time! Finally I'll get to play terraforming mars
Hope you enjoy!
Good instruction. Like the way you first show the set up and then explain the play.
Glad you found it helpful Bri!
Currently my favorite game. I'm looking forward to playing with all expansions active.
Even if I know how to play a game I still watch your how to's. Sometimes there is a rule I missed but generally they are just nice to watch.
Let me know if you catch one here!
thanks for the video Rodney! Your "How to play" videos are one of my most favourites!
Hey, so nice to hear it - thank you!
You are saving board game nights. Thank you my man.
Ah, very nice of you to say - happy to team up with you :)
Dang Rodney that workout journal is upping your hand eye coordination as well. Keep it up! Can't wait for more vlogs!
One was released just this week, did you catch that one already?
Played this for the first time last night. I wished I had seen the explanation first for a better game experience. I'm sure my next time is going to be a lot better. Great stuff, as usual. Thanks, Rodney!
Have a great time (re)playing this one :)
excellent how-to-play instructions - i wish i watched this video before i sat through the confusing directions of the other two i found; thank you
So glad you found it helpful!
As always: the best explanations available on RUclips.
Very kind of you to say!
Yooooo this helped so much! Now we actually know what we are doing
Have a great time playing!
Thank you so much for this!! I was having a tough time interpreting some of the rules just to get started (mainly the starting credit situation). The game came so highly recommended that I bought it unplayed with a deal from Amazon I couldn't turn down. This was so helpful!!!
So glad this was helpful John - have a great time playing!
How much you get it for? I just bought one off ebay! Amazon was OOS.
@@JMang101 I got one of the last ones! It was right at $30 I think.
@@johnrmc70 Sweet. I'm learning to play this tonight via this tutorial. Expanding my board game collection with the quarantine situation. How do you like the game so far? This is my first "engine building" game of this calibur!
Having watched the entire video, I can now confirm that I have indeed been playing correctly all these years. Thanks Rodney!
A pleasure!
Really awesome tutorial! So clear, fully of details and well organized! Thank you and congratulations! Watched the tutorial of TM Ares Expedition too, same quality.
Very kind of you to say - glad you enjoyed!
This is SOOOOOO much better than reading the directions, thank you!!!
You're very welcome - have a great time playing!
As always, the bar is established for an excellent tutorial of for a game! Kudos!!!
Very kind of you to say Mark.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO!! Your scythe video is how I taught my friends to play and now I can finally help them understand this game!
I hope this video helps as well Josh!
beautiful video. I haven't played before but i feel like i understand the whole game already and it was easily understandable
I hope you have a fantastic time playing. I’m really glad the video was helpful!
When you doing another fundraiser/kickstarter of you do love get on a level where I could play a few games so thankful for everything you do. You help me learn so many games make it easy fun an even help with me teach others.

This is a great game. I've played it numerous times w my husband. I didnt know u did older games.. cud u do one for Star Realms Card Game? True there are other videos out there but honestly I just think yours are the best. You speak so clearly & understandably yet not too fast. I've saved to watch later Quantum & Detective. When I was at a game store recently The Detective game box caught my eye right away it had the Watched It Played symbol on it. Once again u make learning a game so much easier n quicker that I now purposely look for ur symbol on game boxes when considering/purchasing a new one. Thank you Rodney! ⚃⚂🙂
Shaina, thanks for the kind words :) I'm so glad the videos have been helpful! I avoid pre-announcing games I might cover as my schedule can change and I don't like to disappoint.
Rodney is the best in this business of "how to play" videos. No doubt!
Thank you kindly!
Thanks so much for this. It made what seemed like an intimidating game very accessible.
Very nice to hear - have fun playing!
Here we go! Been waiting for this one!
me too!
PirateNipple me too!!
Can an event card stay face up for as long as you want? And then flipped when resolved? If so, is resolving an event considered 1 of your 2 actions?
Hi Ian, I shot this long enough ago, I'm not quite sure what you're referring to - can you provide a time stamp to the section of the video you are asking about?
@WatchItPlayed I think we figured it out :) also man, you are just the best board game resource. We are always dissapointed when we get a game and you haven't done it.
@@iandayhew8648Very kind of you to say - I'll keep it up!
Just got this game recently from my board game group's give away. Can't wait to play it and always thank you for the tutorial videos.
You're very welcome David - congrats on the giveaway :)
That flip on the box cover at the end was too cool.
The best explanation I watched. Thanks, man.
You’re very welcome. Thanks for the kind comment!
Thanks for doing this one! There was only one other good teaching vid online but I love your consistently high quality
Thanks Devin, glad you liked it!
This is so well explained. Thank you.
Very kind of you to say - have fun playing!
