Dude, you have at least 90+ speech in life.
Your videos are really excellently done - watched it, understood everything, no questions, played. You made boardgame explaining into an art, thank you for this!
Thank you so much for the kind comment Moritz!t
He has consistently worked on his art. That's how you get excellent at something. Anybody can perfect their trade if they put in the consistency. As shown here. Most people just don't keep trying at something, that's the mistake.
Moritz I hope you can achieve a bit of excellence too, maestro😂
This is what I’m thinking every time I watch his video.
The use of time stamps or whatever they call it in the video is SUPER helpful. I don't know how time consuming it is to separate your video this way, but the value and usefulness goes through the roof!
So glad you're finding these helpful!
true, really neat feature for this format.
Rodney, one of the persons most qualified to say "Spice Mélange" properly.
I must have it
Jamey Stegmeier doesn't even know that the resource is called Spice. He couldn't remember it in a recent video.
I'm not really a Dune nutcase (though I've always held it highly compelling and influential), but I find it sad that any prolific designer doesn't know much about Frank Herbert's opus, as it has to be one of the most important works of the 20th century.
Designers: Reading is more important than your haircut. Please.
@@milanstevic8424 bam
Why is he most qualified? Curious.
@@Sheriff_K because it's a mix of English and French and that's what Canadians speak
Wow this game looks great and fitting of the Dune theme. I like how thorough Rodney was where he would repeat and reiterate certain elements that could be confusing. Great video as always
Glad you enjoyed Jorge!
true true. both the game and the video are excellent. good job Rodney!
So much love for the box flip but the 'trash' card toss was the true gem in this one.
Thank you *takes bow*
@@WatchItPlayed How many takes did that box flip take?
@@rameking1 Are you suggesting it wasn't the first time??!!! *gasp*
Oh no... this looks better than I was even hoping... acquisition disorder triggered
Thanks for checking it out - glad it didn't disappoint.
Same😅
Couldn't resist and bought the game without too much hesitation.
The Kwisatz Haderach himself would be envious of that box flip.
THANK YOU
You're very welcome!
Thanks, sir. Quality as ever - helping us get games to the table!
Have a great time playing!
Awesome and clear instructions! Thank you for teaching in such an easy to understand manner
So glad you found this helpful Cameron!
That man could successfully explain quantum mechanics to preschoolers.
I preordered this game a few months ago because of this video, and I have never been more excited for a board game. Thanks Rodney!
I hope you have a great time playing!
Pulled off the toss spin!
If box flipping was an Olympic sport, Canada would have a gold medal.
*takes bow*
Australia wouldn’t qualify in box flipping
@@WatchItPlayed So did you land the box flip on the first try or use fancy green screen editing to just make it look like it landed up right?
@@sully4071 Are you suggesting I don't get it the first time, every time? *gasp*
@@WatchItPlayed Not at all. Curious if you do, and which ancient master taught you the art of board game box spinning. I love your videos by the way. My favorites ones for learning a game.
Wow! Very clear tutorial! Thank you!
You're very welcome - glad you enjoyed!
Your tecnique flipping boxes is improving in every video, amazing
He is practising to get in the Quines records for a Person who spins the Gaming boxes most in one throw!
;)
My husband JUST bought me this today as a mother's day gift. Im soooo excited!
Board games make great gifts! Have fun playing!
Thanks Rodney, always useful.
Very kind of you to say James!
Great job as always, Rodney! Excellent rundown of the rules. Initially seemed overly complex (the 31-minute runtime was telling) but you broke it down until the basic mechanics revealed themselves. So it's worker-placement with a bit of deck-building plus combat on Arrakis--I love it already!
Great! Thank you for your work!
Very kind of you to say!
You, my dear sir, has earned yourself a the highest of likes for your endeavour!
Thank you kindly!
I don't have the tolerance to watch a lot of HTP videos. You lay it out there pretty easy. Thansk!
Very glad you enjoyed - thanks for the kind comment.
Another brilliant tutorial, thx Rodney
Thank you kindly Steve!
Nice work. Thanks
You bet Keith!
very useful to understand the game, thank you!
You're very welcome!
Always the best Rodney!
Thank you kindly!
Great video, thanks Rodney
You're very welcome - I hope you have a great time!
Excellent as always Rodney
Thank you Brayden!
Very good guide, thank you!
Thank you Boris!
Thanks so much. Read the rules, this cleared it up a lot for me. I gotta get into deck builders more, this game answered my wish for a dominion game that let's you have influence over a board
Very glad to hear you enjoyed what you saw!
veryyyy welly explainedddd thankssss
You're very welcome!
Great video, you are amazing. Sending love from czech republic
Thank you kindly - greetings back from Canada!
Well explained !
Thank you kindly Ron!
Here after just watching Dune 2. Loved it so maybe I'll love the game!
Hope you get to give in a spin!
Something the designer clarified in Discord: if you remove troops using a Combat card (like the second effect of the one demonstrated), you *lose* the strength they contribute (so, in this case, 2 per troop removed). The option is there to allow you to save troops you didn't need for victory, or to get out of a conflict where you aren't going to benefit from.
And if you don't have at least one troop deployed when the conflict is resolved, you're not included, no matter how many Swords you revealed earlier. You literally didn't show up. Yes, this could mean rounds where no one fights and no one gets rewards.
Makes sense. I only just purchased it and haven’t played the game yet. But… it seems kind of intuitive that this is how it would work. I take it that it wasn’t felt to be obvious in practice? (Rodney does stress your 2nd point, though, that you have to have troops in the conflict or you’re simply not involved. But it’s probably a point that needs to be stressed, because you could definitely see people wanting to play the card and say “that counts!”)
It seems intuitive that you need to have a troop in the conflict, not just swords. An army with only weapons but no soldiers can't win a war.
gr8 teach.
Thank you kindly!
Perfect as always
Thank you kindly Bobo!
Thanks for another great tutorial!
You're very welcome!
Excellent!
Glad you enjoyed!
Bless the Maker and his saucing of the spice locations every round.
Well done m8. Great game
Thanks - glad you enjoyed the game!
This was the most helpful how to play board game video I have ever seen, so clear and concise, covering every little nuance, quite amazing. Would have loved also an extra minute or two just to cover the one player / two player game extra sheet, but still quite a perfect overview.
Very glad you enjoyed! If you'd like to see the two player or solo game in action, we do have full play throughs of both on the channel!
Another great tutorial.
Thank you Adam - have fun playing!
Excelent explanation! Clear, to the point and easy to follow even for non-native folks like me.
Very glad to know this was helpful!
Your videos make me want to be apart of something like this. A board game channel that teaches and inspires people to pick up and play. Love the comedy, love the enthusiasm, and above all love the personalities on this channel! You guys rock! Im gonna be just like you when im grown up!( Even though im probably older than all of you 44)
Y'all hirin? 😂
I have you beat on age (47 here, Rodney). Thanks for the very kind comments on the videos, it really means a lot to know you're enjoying what we're doing!
Thank you for the review, i was hoping to get myself a copy and you made me sure it was the right move
Have a great time playing David!
Just got the game. Ty for making the best how to play videos 😊
So glad you've been enjoying them Daniel - I really hope you enjoy the game!
Thanks Rodney! I am late to this game and was hitting a wall learning it. It's actually been set up on my table for a few weeks now. This video will help a lot!
I hope you find this does help! Have fun playing.
I'll buy this on Steam today and this tutorial is really good, ty.
Thank you - have fun playing!
Thank you so much for all you do, you have been a major help to me and my enjoyment in this wonderful hobby. I always search to see if you've done a video on how to play anytime I get a new game, or sometimes even if I'm just thinking about getting one. For games I know how to play confidently, but maybe haven't played in awhile, I will always look up your video to remind myself of set up, and having the time sections broken up, makes it so easy to find something if there was one rule I wanna remind myself of before playing. Not only that, during the pandemic I've gotten my sister into board games and we play games online, and/or over a webcam. If I send her a new game or we're gonna play one online, I just send her the link to your video, and it makes learning it that much easier. So again thank you, second only to the people who play the games with me, you make being in this hobby better for me!
Rick that is an incredibly kind thing for you to share - it really means a lot to me to know that the videos have been helpful, and that they have been making your time in the hobby more enjoyable. Here's to more fun games and gaming in the future!
THE SPICE MUST FLOWW
You are the best🎉
So glad you enjoyed!
Rodney, Merry Christmas! Thank you for this video, as ever, you are the best at what you do! Highlighting a rule as easy to miss is SO helpful! I imagine that you must put in a LOT of time and effort because your instructions always make it seem so effortless!
Thank you kindly Richard, so glad you're enjoying!
Punisher first appearance spotted at 0:19 awwwwwwwww yeaaaaaaaaaaaah
Really helpful, just played my first game yesterday which was 4 players and won through brute force as harkonnen 😅
Nicely done - hope you all enjoyed!
I'm back after 2 years. Finally have this game in the mail on the way to me. Can no longer deny that this game is one of the great ones. Watching the video everything seems simple and streamlined so far, except for conflict resolution when there are ties etc. Oof... that could be better indicated on the reward cards themselves... rather than having it be a confusing rule set you must remember.
Yeah the tie rules feel like "something" when they are all explained out, but in practice I'm optimistic you'll find they aren't so clunky. Sometimes the "explaining" is more fussy than the doing. Have a great time playing Jeff!
Rodney absolutely killed it this entire video
Glad you enjoyed Brock!
thanks
You're welcome!
Thank you for this video and many of the others I've watched to help learn or teach a board game quickly. I love Dune and was excited for this game, even more excited after I read that you had a lot of fun playing it with your friends outside. Your videos are top-notch, efficient, and well-written.
Very, VERY kind of you to say - thank you.
I know I’m super late lol but my wife just got me this game for the holidays and we’re so excited to try it out! Thanks for the great vids!
You're never too late to discover a great game that's new to you! Have a great time playing :)
Again, Watch It Played makes learning a daunting game pretty simple. Thanks, Rodney!
So glad it was helpful :)
It’s kind of funny… I don’t play a lot of worker-placement games. But I’ve played “Lords of Waterdeep” and I found myself realizing that although there seem to be a ton of rules, each of those spaces really does a remarkably good job of telling you how they work. It might not actually be that complicated a game. I agree with you though, that it sure seems complicated the first time you go through a rules-explanation. And I plan to watch one more time before I break out my box for the first time ;)
Please do the other Dune game as well (because that's the one I own lmao)
Rodney is legit. Professionalé.
Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you for what you do! I've watched several of your videos and they are always incredibly informative. You are appreciated!
Thanks Travor, very kind of you to say :)
This looks awesome!
I love how well you explained this, you are definitely my go-to for board game how-to-play's!!
Thanks so much Eryk! Hope you have a great time playing!
Rodney you are amazing, I had many questions about this game and you explained everything thank you.
So glad this was helpful Ivan!
wow awesome explanation, perfect, covered everything, THANK YOU!
Very glad this was helpful Yann!
Getting ready to play for the first time today. I think I got this.
Hope you have a fun time!
Gotta say, this video did its job well! I knew nothing about the game coming in, and after watching I placed a pre-order for it. This one looks like it'll be a hit with my group.
I hope you all have a great time playing!
Thanks again, Rodney. Playing this weekend and we are using this video to get a jump start on how to play.
I hope you have a great time playing Jay!
24:00 when combat smiles upon you (-:
The spice must flow.
Thank you, sir, for the great job. You are a gift of God for the gaming community, seriously.
I’m super excited to get this one. Great video!!!
I hope you'll dig it (I think you might!)
Rodney, you're the best. Thanks so much for making this video and for making it so short! It's the perfect video to watch when we haven't played it in a while and need the perfect refresher. As it turns out we had been missing that rule about displacing someone's faction from a spot on the board, so thanks for that clarification as well! Your channel is the best :)
You’re very kind, and it’s wonderful to hear the video has been helpful!
Best video I found. I went from "game Ill never play because the rules are overcomplicated" to "best game ive played in ages"
So very nice to know the video helped you get up and going, and that you enjoyed the game!
Great video as always Rodney! Whenever I'm going to play a game with my group and they have never played the game in question, I always send them links to your video on the game, because you explain it better than I ever could. Would love a video for Root, because that one, while not too complicated to play, is a real pain to explain, because it's like four games in one! Love and appreciate your work!
So glad it was helpful Michael!
Must say: very high quality videos, very clear explanations, not going too fast,... Here now for Dune Imperium, and in the past I came here to check out the mechanics of Gloomhaven JOTL.
Thanks for the kind words Bernd!
Thank you. I will go to a tournament and play it for the first time there :D
Good luck!
Thank you :)))@@WatchItPlayed
I really have to give you a special thank you, because your videos are sooo crystal clear in explanations. THANK YOU!
You're very welcome - I hope you have a great time playing!
Great tutorial! Really helped me understand the game quickly :) Keep up the good work!
Great to know it was helpful Josh!
Mad props. Great production quality, and terrific content. This will be a huge help when I play my first game tomorrow!
I hope you had a fun time!
Played this for the first time last week. Had a fair bit of fun with it, and this video was a tremendous help with getting a feel for it beforehand. Thank you for the work you do.
So nice to know it was helpful and that you had a good time playing Nicholos!
Great video as usual! Thanks for explaining!
Thank you kindly Michal!
Thanks, that explanation was very very well made!
So glad you enjoyed!
Love these awesome videos!
As always, a brilliant distillation of some rather complicated rules in an engaging an entertaining manner! Kudos!!
Very nice of you to say Mark - have a great time playing!
I am finally getting around to playing this game, and thank goodness for your video, Rodney, I did NOT get any of that from the rules book. I a going to read it again, but I definitely got nothing from the rules that told me what I learned in this great video!!!
I think you'll really enjoy this one Frank - glad the video helped!
@@WatchItPlayed this game is so much fun! It's really cool to figure out how to best balance your resources and deck building!! Love it!!
I've watched other how-to guides but never felt I understood the game. This one is THE tutorial that helped us.
Thank you for your excellent work
Very nice to know this was helpful - have fun playing!
You make it sound so easy.
I hope you enjoy the game if you get a chance to try it!
@@WatchItPlayed I'll be playing it in two days! Thank you for all your work and your slick box/component moves. They don't go unnoticed ;D
Great as always, Rodney! You really helped us get going quickly!
So glad to hear that - have fun playing!
Just got invited to a game of this in an hour or so, clicked watch and now I feel like I could take on the whole Imperium myself, Thanks Rodney!
I hope you had a great time playing! :)
This video is so well done and complements the game’s instructions perfectly. Very helpful.
So very kind of you to say, glad you enjoyed!
Outstanding presentation. Thank you.
Thanks Scott!
What a fantastic tutorial! Many thanks Rodney and team.
So glad you enjoyed Jon!
