A £10k deposit and £1500 a month is a bit of a decision to make. Are you going to get the most return on your investment through content on your channel from an R8 over something else???? If so, do it, if not re think. You are growing your business, only you know it’s financial status and it’s projections. So treat it as a business decision. The more successful the business the more you can purchase in the future. Good luck. Genuinely has me scratching my head. Why ditch the R8 when Audi are on the brink of their F1 journey, surely adapting the R8 with tech from their F1 team would be the icing on the cake.

You should buy an R8 with low mileage and good state. Just because atm they are not "rare" yet. Those things will become iconic legends at crazy value. See it as an investment + you get to enjoy owning and hearing 1 every day. You can't lose.
Tricky one, I like the R8 and have looked at them myself. Given your history with them I can see why you'd want one, and it would be a good addition to the channel. I love this channel, I think the content is excellent, the photography is outstanding and there's the right amount of humour. But, I'm torn. There's only three motoring channels that I watch every episode, yours, High Peaks Auto and Jayemm. I like the level of cars covered, mostly affordable ones. Ones that the majority of viewers can afford. There's a whole other set of channels out there dealing in the higher end cars and their ownership. Unfortunately, most seem to boil down to "What colour should I wrap it?", "Should I tune it" amd "I'm bored of it should I get a ...", same old stuff. That said, I think having the R8 would increase your subscribers, which is a really good thing, I think you can do more original and enjoyable content, Jayemm does a great mix and has highend cars and you end up with one of your dream cars! So, on balance, go for it I'd say. We'll all be here to support you!
I drove this exact car yesterday, these are a great bit of kit. R8 Spyder is prob one of the best comfy practical fast fun easy to drive cars in the world. 992 GT3 as well maybe.
Hi Joel, if you can afford to purchase an r8 in cash and not on finance then get the car you want ,but save your money and put that money towards paying your mortgage off , you can get as many press cars as you like but if you get the v10 and the engine goes boom could you afford to replace it .I don't mean to be a bore I love fast cars and have had quite a few but I'd rather speak to someone who said I've payed my mortgage of than some who bought a car on finance of 60k and still is paying it off , get a nice car just don't go mad . Just make sure you can afford it but don't regret it.

Why don't you get in contact with youtuber Salvage Nation and buy a R8, Range Rover L405 or any other car that's been crash damaged will keep costs down. Make it a rebuilding series and when you can go to London and get 'hands on' in the rebuilding process. You'll get a quality car at the end of the project. Check him out...at the moment he's rebuilding a DB11.
Also we love Matt Armstrong...he started from humble beginnings and now he's rebuilding super cars. Super cars are dream cars but not all of want to dream. An R8 is a realistic purchase for many. Hopefully you'll buy one and If you do don't forget about us guys that are buying cheap E class coupes for £2500 or are keeping an eye on Copart...you know, the guys that love content about cars on a budget.
There is a balance. It seems you and your wife have deep ties to this particular vehicle. That said making a major investment (which will admittedly depreciate more slowly because of its rarity) means you won't have the money to buy other interesting cars and see if you can make something of them. It's where you think your channel (and whatever else you do to support your family) is going in the future. Indulgence now or investment in your channel. BTW I recently downgraded from a 640i which I didn't drive enough to a Z4 - which I drive whenever I can. Forgot how much I enjoyed a roadster - had a Fiat spider 124.
I am a big fan of Audi, but the R8 does nothing for me. I think a TT RS Competition is better value and you get better bang for your bucks for a lot less money. Or go for a 911 and see your investment hold its money far better than the R8
I think it's a great car and very underrated and has been since day one considering the car came out at the same time that the Lamborghini Gallardo came out by got the Gallardo got all the publicity
