Fun fact: Brandon's actor, Alex Meraz, is a karate blackbelt. They were going to use a stunt double for these scenes, but when they saw how skilled he was, they decided to let him do most of it. Norman Reedus thought he was a stuntman when they first met during the forest fight.
Oh really? Aww that's hilarious. And yeah you can tell it's definitely him in these shots, and maybe its when he gets hit by the bell that they use a double, cuz I pay more attention for that stuff these days.
I've also heard that Lauren Cohan insisted on doing this on her own, that at this point she felt more comfortable doing fight scenes rather than having a stunt double.
Great callback to Steven Ogg and JDM'S behind the scenes on how they helped choreograph their own fight. "So what do two equally big guys who rely their size do when they fight each other?" "They start fighting dirty." "Yessir!" And how does Negan beat Carver? By fighting as dirty as a pig in a mudbath
Imma be honest, it was kinda a stalemate but when carver got the upper hand dog helped Daryl. I don’t think Daryl would beat carver in a straight up fist fight
At least they portrayed what fighting someone from a spec ops unit, or from a competent military...with experience for added spiciness/ with actual (possibly, contextually, elite) training would be like. This show/shows get reality all kinds of fucked up.
@@drahsyxip yeah he DID fight him. But we didn't realize it was him under the mask. Makes me kinda upset that they never wore them again, but also glad because we got to see the faces of the men in future fights.
@christopherkennedy4076 AMC used to restrict the use of the F word, especially The Walking Dead, and they would dub over the uncensored version like that one episode where Rick and Daryl first saw Jesus, Daryl said about him, "What about this guy?" Rick responded, "No f--k this guy." But in the censored version, Rick says, "No, not this guy." And episodes later, Negan had to drop at least 23 F-bombs but AMC censored the F word because of their policy at the time, but they changed their policy and limited TWD so only one character can say the F-word per episode.
He's special forces, everyone else was out of his league here. The man was trained as a killer pre-apocalypse. Mercer or Jesus would be the best bet to defeat him.
I mean Elijah is still really good but he's not military merc trained. And again, he's another character who, like Jesus was sadly underutilized and underused in fight scenes

Man I love this fight. And I LOVE how Carver was so confident of himself like, "Oh this is what you're doing? (Grins) Alright, let's Go!"
Guy probably is the most skilled fighter since Jesus, lol.
but overconfidence and his ego are his downfall. If only he went for a killshot and took his knife out instead of being cocky.
he held that hallway 3v1 but not immune to pocket sand unfortunately
Most Powerful and Skilled with Weapons by Hand to Hand and Guns than Jesus buddy

2:00 W Negan, being such an anti-hero!
"You killed my sister."
"Okay?"
It's kinda funny how he says "okay" so casually.
When you realize that in this fight only negan that were able to give damage to carver
Pocket Sand!!!
If only he had plot armor
Love this fight.
It's sad we never got a carver vs Daryl
we did
We did but with dog help

You mean the Anti Christ? 😜
Well ding ding.
I love this fight.
4k Carver, 🙀

Daryl did fight him?
Daryl managed to hold him off decently until his dog intervened.

Someone should make a short where the theme song plays over the bell smack 😜
