  • Hey friends! In this video we’re taking a look at all of my Hoyas! Hoyas are my favorite by far and I have more of them than any other genus. As usual, I have care tips included, but remember what works in my climate might not work so well in yours. All care tips are general suggestions.

    Really enjoyed your video. Nice to see a ‘gushing free’, informative, experience-driven video.
    So reassured @‘Hoya don’t like to be bone dry’. I didn’t allow mine to totally dry out between watering - until a ‘Hoya head’ I trusted said she lets hers totally dry out. The one time ai tried it, my beloved ‘Krimson Princess’ got dry rot and I lost 40% of it.

      For some people drying them out seems to work so well. I’m assuming those people either have crazy high humidity or don’t realize the inner layers of soil are actually still moist when they water again. It’s never worked well for me, it kept my Hoyas alive to leave them on the dry side, but they didn’t grow until I really started keeping them watered and fertilized at all times

    Hi, I thoroughly enjoyed this Hoya video! Great job! I’ve had Hoyas for years but it wasn’t until the Plant Craze started that I had access to some of the more uncommon Hoya. Slowly I learned that not all Hoya like to dry out and not all Hoya want bright light. It took me a while to learn which is which. Many Hoya do like bright light and they do like to dry out between waterings. It’s been a fun learning journey with mercifully a limited amount of casualties.😵‍💫. Loved all your beautiful Hoya as well as your tips and information. 👌🪴🥰

    I am also a part of the dead Hoya krohniana club 🙋‍♀️ I struggle with smaller leaf hoyas because I’m a chronic underwaterer. Trying to be better about it this year though!

    So refreshing to see a plant video without all the silly. Your knowledge is very helpful, I have several Hoya, and I’m hooked. I have a Carnosa, Pubicalix, Crimson Queen, Sunrise, and one I don’t know the name. I have propagated Crimson Queen twice, both beautiful results, the Carnosa is big and thriving. The Sunrise did not look very healthy when I got it 2 years ago, so I propagated that one, it still is not as healthy as yours, but gotta love them, they’re so addicting.

    I definately love hoyas, I live so north that we have no sunlight on winter and we don't have dark in summertime, hoyas (many of them) are really resiliant to keeping alive through winter, when it's dry humid and darkness, some makes new leaves on little extra light, in summer I take my plants to have some sunbath outside. Also as a cat owner I don't want to keep poisonous plants, so in every way a good choice as a houseplant!

    You have certainly increased my knowledge of Hoyas. I haven’t had much interest in them as a plant lover. You have helped me with this. I think that it would be fun to be required to be patient as they grow and then watch one kick into high gear as it indicates that it finally has what it needs to be ‘good to grow’ to coin your phrase. #hoyaheads

    Well tickle me green🎉. I just discovered you and the timing couldn’t be better. I have about 80 plants and only one Hoya for a year until I started to understand it. Kinda… This May I bought 7 new Hoyas. Funny the Hoya krohniana Black died right away. I tried propagating it. Nope. YOU answered some burning questions. Thank you.

      I got my sunrise as a cutting from my friend Michelle. I have a video of all the cuttings she sent me on my TikTok. There were so many I got from her including the poly silver, linearis, Wilbur graves, and icensis.

    You've had troubles with krohniana? That's surprising to me! Not to be condescending, I'm just genuinely sad you've had that experience when they've been so lovely for me. I have two super silvers from different sellers and they do have quite a different growing success compared to each other. My first one rotted roots just a while into me having it in my care. Re-rooted it in leca but it's been taking its sweet time, but fortunately gives new growth so I'm hopefull. But the one that's doing well is growing uncontrollably! Absolute champ of a hoya I had the pleasure to prop a good handfull of cuttings in a span of a few months this spring. I also have the Black leaves one and a silver splash, which is more of a speckled one with deeper green undertone. The black leaves keeps aborting new leaves but I think that's because of inconsistent watering on my behalf. I don't really know, but it's growing just fine otherwise, just not as bushy and not as frequent leaf density. It used to be in a cabinette but I've taken it out now to see if it does better and if I perhaps remember checking it more often. The roots look totally fine at the bottom of the pot so I don't think it's rot. I love all my krohnianas and they got me into hoya in the first place. I'm pretty regretful I didn't get a cutting of regulat green krohniana one time when I had the chance, thinking I don't need one because I have those special ones, but BOY would I have enjoyed it too. The person who had one had grown it absolutely gorgeous and big, it was flowering a lot and the leaf color is nice and soft light minty green. Seems to be an effortless gower too, and nontheless special. Anyway, my tip would be to try again with the super silver if you like it, because there might just be immense quality differences between individuals that are circling around on the market.

      I will definitely try one again in the future. I’m not sure why I’ve had such low success they’re supposed to be quite an easy one.

    Do Hoyas grow well in pon?

    • @Ajay.Plants
      @Ajay.Plants  Месяц назад

      I’ve never tried to grow Hoyas in Pon. I have seen many of my friends grow their Hoyas successfully in Pon. It’s able to be moisture retentive but it’s light and allows for lots of air flow around the roots so in my opinion it sounds like an excellent substrate for a Hoya to grow in
