Holy detailed! A lot of that stuff you’d think would be common sense, but for those never having done it before it’s the best instructions ever! No IKEA instructions here!
Thanks so much for all the tips.. I had good results with a mix of stratum & sphagnum propping a Bertoneae and Scindapsus.. but now I’ll add coco husk!💚😉🌱

Hi April, I would like to see videos where you highlight different Hoyas with care tips and any other information you would share. I visit your website quite often but I think that seeing the Hoyas in videos would be helpful. Thank you!
Thank you so much! On the works! If you have specific requests, let me know. When I go to the greenhouses, I get overwhelmed which one I want to do a highlight of 😂
@@unsolicitedplanttalks Hoyas Caudata and Rotundaflora are two I struggle with. If you could highlight the care of these two I would appreciate it. Actually. I would like videos of any Hoyas since I have acquired this Hoya obsession. The two I added to my collection this week are my new favorites. (Gunung Gading and Verticillata)
Thanks for so much information you give ♥️ Also, you know, you mentioned the curved shears…it’s very beneficial for pruning, and something I discovered by accident that works SO well (in a similar curved fashion) - lobster scissors! I just found them at Smart & Final, lol, in the kitchen section. I think they’re also called seafood shears. They’re so strong because (obviously) they’re designed to break open lobster shells, crab legs, etc… but they’re also curved, blunt tipped & can cut extremely delicately if you need them to! I like the style of yours too cause they’re a little shorter 😊
Th strawberry pin tip is clutch. I was using hair pins and they would open and the stem would move. These pins are soooooo much easier and cleaner to work with. 😁😁😁
Thanks for the information! That plant is so so beautiful! I just chopped a huge old carnosa and propagated like this. Keeping the vines at proper orientation is so confusing sometimes!
Hi April - could you do a video on why buds blast? Why they turn yellow? How to avoid this from happening?? I’m losing my mind because it keeps happening!
For the time being, the best answer I can give you is it is likely due to environmental issues of some kind, or even pests depending. Things like too little light or too much water would be a good place to start.
I still do them during winter but that’s because we grow in a greenhouse and it’s controlled. If you are growing indoor, you can do it too! Just know that it may take a little longer if you don’t have a tent or a space where it’s controlled at all times. But not impossible!
Thank you so much for the video on Latifolia (Sarawak). Is there a difference in the size of leaves on all of your Latifolias? Do they all get large leaves?
I have a Sawarak; I cut the top in hopes of promoting growth/new stem (nothing yet). Should I leave the stem in my prop box, as there is at least one node on the stem,? How long does the stem normally take to produce a leaf? Thank you.
A cup of perlite sitting on a saucer with water might be a good idea! ☺️ Make sure your cup of perlite has drainage hole(s) and as soon as you see the roots long enough to touch the bottom/water, you can up pot the plant to its permanent substrate ☺️
FML, I can't decide which I liked more, the video or that shirt! 😂
😂 Both!
Thank you April for these deep dive educational videos 💚

Thank you April for the educational video. It would be nice to have an update on the new mother plant once it starts putting out new leaves

Oh my gosh!! Thank you for sharing. I’m gonna get me one!
Thank you for the information very informative.
You’re welcome 💚
Great vid 🤗 i keep thinking, have those sticks rooted and what is the situation nowadays 😊?
Cuttings with leaves must be growing.
I forgot the rooting hormone on mine. Crud!
You can look into watering with mycorrhizae ☺️💚
@@unsolicitedplanttalks Oh thank you! I'll look at that.
Beautiful Hoya! Do you have elephant Hoyas?
Wow, what a gorgeous Sarawak. If you get time to reply, just wondering how long it took to grow to that size? Thank you for great video
Hmm I'm not sure exactly how long, but around a years time 😊
@@unsolicitedplanttalks For a full plant like this, how many cutting do you start with?
Hi April - could you do a video on why buds blast? Why they turn yellow? How to avoid this from happening?? I’m losing my mind because it keeps happening!
Hmm that can be a tough one! There are so many factors that can contribute to this, but I will definitely add it to the list ☺
For the time being, the best answer I can give you is it is likely due to environmental issues of some kind, or even pests depending. Things like too little light or too much water would be a good place to start.
Wow, it is very bushy. Love it 🤩 Do you have to water every day at this rooting stage or do you waiting till the top coir is dry ? Many thanks.
I recommend not watering until the top is dry ☺️ Less is more when propping!
Thank you very much, April.@@unsolicitedplanttalks
What a beautiful plant! Do you take cuttings and propagate in the winter months or just Spring/Summer?
I still do them during winter but that’s because we grow in a greenhouse and it’s controlled. If you are growing indoor, you can do it too! Just know that it may take a little longer if you don’t have a tent or a space where it’s controlled at all times. But not impossible!

Thank you so much for the video on Latifolia (Sarawak). Is there a difference in the size of leaves on all of your Latifolias? Do they all get large leaves?
They all get large leaves! Some just vary a bit, like the “dinner plate” latifolia is flat and seems to grow bigger faster than the (Sarawak) ☺️
I will look to see if you have latifolia dinner plate.
🙏❤️

Recommendation for propping substrate in a drier climate?
