This is quite possibly the greatest Smash video I've ever seen, the animation, the editing, the references, the representation, and humorous parts like the Waluigi part, it's marvellous. An amazing tribute to celebrates this franchise's 20 year heritage.
The reason the animation might look like that is because it's a style different from traditional animation. Instead of drawing frame by frame, they draw individual pieces and make them move kinda like how one would a puppet. Hope that explains it.

That last shot under the tree is actually a really fun way of representing the franchise as a whole; it's cute on the surface, but features deceptively dangerous fighters in their respective debut games, one from each Smash. Kirby debuted in 64, Popo came in in Melee, Olimar in Brawl, Luma in Sm4sh, and Isabelle in Ultimate. Not only that, but the famously unbalanced "floaty" games (Brawl and Sm4sh) are closest to the outside, with competitive-friendly Melee and Ultimate directly beside Kirby, who practically represents the series as a whole.
Would have been great if a closeup of him and Pirannha Plant (plus maybe 4 other silhouettes) popped up for a split second right at the VERY end of the video.

特にDSで登場した「ワルイージピンボール」のBGMは屈指の人気を誇っていて、３DS（７）での不参加に猛抗議するファンがかなり居たみたいです。（７にはコースのみ出現。ちなみに７のスタッフゴーストはワリオが担当。後の８では再び登場）
その他の設定として
・かなりマメな努力家（テニス64時代からこの設定は存在する）
・ナルシスト？（最近はこの傾向が大きい）
・ワリオとはパチモン及びワル仲間（兄弟ではない、が相性は仲は良い方）
というのがあり、これらの設定で魅かれるファンが多いのかな？という点も挙げられます。
