The best remote is by far the MELE F10. What are you talking about 2-3 weeks battery life?! I own one for about 2 years and I've only had to charge it once and I use it pretty much every day. My guess is that you're leaving the air mouse on, just click the D pad in any direction or flip it over to turn it off. The MINIX ones are probably good as well, but I haven't tried it.
B.D.B. Have you had any issues with the IR learning stopping working? I’ve had mine for about a year now and it will no longer remember Ir functions. Thanks

Incredible video! Really helped me (a newbie to android TV boxes) get a handle on what makes a good remote! I went with the A2 lite, about $35 on Amazon Canada. There is an A3 now, but ten bucks more and just has the added voice feature - which like you I have little need of.
A excellent comparison, Roberto! And I share your liking for the Minix Neo A2 Lite. *However*, you did not include my very favorite remote: the Minix Neo *M1*. It is so small and lightweight ... and almost perfect for my needs (e.g., mainly Kodi). [It's one failing is the lack of a dedicated Home key. To exit Kodi (or some other apps) quickly, I need to turn to the A2 Lite. And, of course, there's no keyboard.] I use the M1 95% of the time. Highly recommended!
+Don Grimme Hey Don, thanks for the input, i used the M1 for a long time but one of my kids managed to lose the usb dongle so i cant use it any more :) But regarding the M1 it has a flaw to me which is the internal battery, i always forget to charge and when i need it arrgg no batteries :) Minix A2 Lite lasts a long time and when battery dies i just replace them :) Thanks. Roberto Jorge I agree about that flaw. I've gotten into the habit of charging the M1 every couple days ... and turning it off whenever I'm not using it. It's a nuisance, but (for me) it's worth it - in order to have the small size and light weight.

mele f10 deluxe at the end when you were typing in a website on the back keyboard you should have also show how the air fly mouse functioned because this was very important feature.

Two questions, have you come across any remote which works with the shield. I dont mind if settings etc dont work but back, home and select should work. The original works quite well as long as you dont use any app not designed for the Android TV OS. If you limit your self you will be fine. On the other hand if you want to use lets say a browser than you will need a wireless remote or airmouse and any of these will work great, its just a matter of personal choice 😃
Can I program my universal IR remote control to my MX9 Pro android box? I have all my Devices programmed to this remote and done easily. That being said I had a four digit code for all the other devices but my remote has a search feature for the code. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong but I just cannot program any android box to the programmable IR remote? I was also wondering if you would know who or what the website is for the builder of these boxes. I was thinking I could contact them and ask if it was possible and what the code is. Hopefully this makes some sense LOL!

Hi Terry, these that i used here on the channel i used them all in my living room at about 4-5 mts away and had no issues at all. At 10 meters it will be difficult for me to do but 4-5 is what i usually do.

Hi Herbert, to turn on any Box only with a IR remote. There is no wireless remote that can do it. With the exception of the Minix wireless remote A3 that has the function to turn off and on but only works on Minix machines

I am using minix x8 h plus, thanks to your advice and I am just loving it. Part also because of the included neo a2 air mouse. I see that it's your favorite too. Only downside is that I can't control my tv and stb with it. I am looking for a all in one solution. I have few queries on mele f10 deluxe. 1. Regarding the all in 1 solution i know how you feel but so far i havent had one experience that i would suggest for that needs. The Mele is nice but if you already have a A2 then humm i would not go for it, dont get me wrong its nice but not as nice as the A2. But regarding your questions: 1- I havent fully tested the Mele on the X8 but it will work without issues as it works on all other machines like the Z64. 2- I feel the A2 much better than the F10, Button press on the A2 as you know its a pleasure, really high quality rubber and the f10 its not so soft. The front buttons are ok but the back keyboard is smaller so harder to type. 3- The A2 has more space and easier to type, no backlight in any of them :) 4- I Havent tried the Rii but they seem very similar in terms of layout. Hope it helps :) RJ

I got the Neo A2 on ure recommendation to use with my MXIII-G and half the buttons don't do anything, for example the home button does not go home and also the audio cuts out when u plug the USB in. Something about it being routed thru the remote instead? How do I fix all this or can I even fix it?
Some boxes dont have compatibility with some remotes as i mentioned on the video. regarding teh home button what i do on other boxes is i use the back button to go home and the audio you will need to go to audio settings of the box and select where you want the audio to go, the remote or the HDMI RJ 👍👍

Hi Mathieu, i have one and the experience will be very similar with any wireless remote. Just make sure you have a USB connection on your tablet and you will be fine 👍
HELP! Just tried Mele F10 Deluxe. Works perfectly with my Shield. But I cannot make it learn the IR codes from my Panasonic TV remote. To my surprise I've read that it is not compatible with Panasonic remotes at all. And it seems other air mouse remotes have the same problem with IR learning and Panasonic remotes! What can I do? Any ideas how to solve this problem?

Humm sorry, not familiar with that remote. But that is a function that is difficult with any remote as on the phone we need to select the text and thne press to show the "copy" option and im not sure if it will do with a remote. Hi Roberto, I am using Minix Neo A3 with Minix X8-H Plus Tv box and i tried with all rom's i.e the latest original 4.4.2 and Lollipop RC2 but i could not get the gyro gaming working on beach buggy racing, Riptide GP2 and some others games too. It never worked at all. I see in your video you have that working but i think you had shown it from some other video footage (maybe Neo A2). Please let me know did you get the Neo A3 gyro gaming working on any TV Box?

Hi Roberto I wonder if you can help me. I have just got a new USB remote for my MXQ box. The problem is when I put the box onto standby (pressing the red power button on the remote) I cannot put the box back on again using the remote. I have to unplug the box and restart it. I also found a lot of people having similar battery problem as mine. Some people only seem to last a day. I use my remote pair with an old win 7 laptop set up as a htpc using kodi. I just ordered a mxq pro 4k from ebay for 30 bucks. I will test battery life again using only android box. Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate that.
Soe Min Paing Humm that is the 1st time i hear it. I use the A2 Lite most of my time and across all my devices :) but the A2 draining battery that fast is weird. Have you posted a thread on the Minix Forum about it? If not i would suggest doing so to see what Minix has to say about it. Im curious to see what is going on with the A2 and if its faulty how Minix will react with the costumers Let us know RJ 👍

Good job buddy ! Nice video sir ! You're spot on - these keyboard / learning / voice remotes are a must now days, (even if one knows to use tinyurls for M3U paths :) ). Surprisingly, replacing multiple remote controls makes internet TV simple for elders too. I just got this new one, the S77 @$20+S&H, it's BACK-LIT. *Play Store has the "Voice Search" app that works with it ... "Ok Google" IS THERE and, It opens APPs, APKs searches words in a Dictionary App & Google Maps! ... I also bought a AA and AAA re-charger to keep fresh rechargeable batteries handy instead of using em up and buying more. The finger pad mouse Rii mini I used heavily for a year was usually tethered to a charging cable during the day. The S77 doesn't need that. I love the S77 !

Hi, yes it works fine with the exception of some keys like On / Off button, multi task key and option key which are exclusive to minix devices, other than that no issues 👍

I love tv boxes... such a good idea: I love the design of this ones … honestly i had a better experience overall with the GooBang Doo -the combo is really cheap and awesome-. I love how this has a huge range.. i can change a movie for my kids from many meters away ! :)
Yep these are universal remotes. Please have in mind that some remotes like the Minix and a few other will not work with all the keys like the turn on / off button etc because they are limited to their brand boxes but all the other keys and keyboards work just fine 👍

The original works quite well as long as you dont use any app not designed for the Android TV OS. If you limit your self you will be fine. On the other hand if you want to use lets say a browser than you will need a wireless remote or airmouse and any of these will work great, its just a matter of personal choice 😃
Can I program my universal IR remote control to my MX9 Pro android box? I have all my Devices programmed to this remote and done easily. That being said I had a four digit code for all the other devices but my remote has a search feature for the code. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong but I just cannot program any android box to the programmable IR remote?
I was also wondering if you would know who or what the website is for the builder of these boxes. I was thinking I could contact them and ask if it was possible and what the code is.

Should i go for it again or there is something better? Hi Terry, these that i used here on the channel i used them all in my living room at about 4-5 mts away and had no issues at all. At 10 meters it will be difficult for me to do but 4-5 is what i usually do.

Hi Herbert, to turn on any Box only with a IR remote. There is no wireless remote that can do it. With the exception of the Minix wireless remote A3 that has the function to turn off and on but only works on Minix machines
These remotes also works if there is direct vision between remote control and receiver?

I am using minix x8 h plus, thanks to your advice and I am just loving it. Part also because of the included neo a2 air mouse. I see that it's your favorite too.
Only downside is that I can't control my tv and stb with it. I am looking for a all in one solution. I have few queries on mele f10 deluxe.
1. Can the remote be used as a plug and play for minix x8 h plus? I mean all the keys in the "my box" preset working with minix. The play, pause, vol up down, home, back, enter, mouse cursor.
2. How are the ergonomics of mele compared to minix neo a2 lite? Button press, tactile feel, quality, placement of buttons?
3. How is the keyboard compared to a2 neo? Is it backlit?
4. Between mele f10 and rii i25, which one would you suggest?

+Amardeep Singh Hey, and thanks for the feedback, this was not a easy one as i have been collecting remotes for almost 1 year hehe!! Regarding the all in 1 solution i know how you feel but so far i havent had one experience that i would suggest for that needs. The Mele is nice but if you already have a A2 then humm i would not go for it, dont get me wrong its nice but not as nice as the A2.
But regarding your questions:
1- I havent fully tested the Mele on the X8 but it will work without issues as it works on all other machines like the Z64.
2- I feel the A2 much better than the F10, Button press on the A2 as you know its a pleasure, really high quality rubber and the f10 its not so soft. The front buttons are ok but the back keyboard is smaller so harder to type.
3- The A2 has more space and easier to type, no backlight in any of them :)
4- I Havent tried the Rii but they seem very similar in terms of layout.

I got the Neo A2 on ure recommendation to use with my MXIII-G and half the buttons don't do anything, for example the home button does not go home and also the audio cuts out when u plug the USB in. Something about it being routed thru the remote instead? How do I fix all this or can I even fix it?
Some boxes dont have compatibility with some remotes as i mentioned on the video. regarding teh home button what i do on other boxes is i use the back button to go home and the audio you will need to go to audio settings of the box and select where you want the audio to go, the remote or the HDMI

Hi Mathieu, i have one and the experience will be very similar with any wireless remote. Just make sure you have a USB connection on your tablet and you will be fine 👍
HELP! Just tried Mele F10 Deluxe. Works perfectly with my Shield. But I cannot make it learn the IR codes from my Panasonic TV remote. To my surprise I've read that it is not compatible with Panasonic remotes at all. And it seems other air mouse remotes have the same problem with IR learning and Panasonic remotes! What can I do? Humm sorry, not familiar with that remote. But that is a function that is difficult with any remote as on the phone we need to select the text and thne press to show the "copy" option and im not sure if it will do with a remote. i.e the latest original 4.4.2 and Lollipop RC2 but i could not get the gyro gaming working
on beach buggy racing, Riptide GP2 and some others games too.
It never worked at all.
I see in your video you have that working but i think you had shown it from some other video footage (maybe Neo A2).

The problem is when I put the box onto standby (pressing the red power button on the remote) I cannot put the box back on again using the remote. I have to unplug the box and restart it. I also found a lot of people having similar battery problem as mine. Some people only seem to last a day. I use my remote pair with an old win 7 laptop set up as a htpc using kodi. I just ordered a mxq pro 4k from ebay for 30 bucks. I will test battery life again using only android box. Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate that.

Good job buddy ! Nice video sir ! You're spot on - these keyboard / learning / voice remotes are a must now days, (even if one knows to use tinyurls for M3U paths :) ). Surprisingly, replacing multiple remote controls makes internet TV simple for elders too. I just got this new one, the S77 @$20+S&H, it's BACK-LIT. *Play Store has the "Voice Search" app that works with it ... "Ok Google" IS THERE and, It opens APPs, APKs searches words in a Dictionary App & Google Maps! ... I also bought a AA and AAA re-charger to keep fresh rechargeable batteries handy instead of using em up and buying more. The finger pad mouse Rii mini I used heavily for a year was usually tethered to a charging cable during the day. The S77 doesn't need that. I love the S77 !

Yep these are universal remotes. Please have in mind that some remotes like the Minix and a few other will not work with all the keys like the turn on / off button etc because they are limited to their brand boxes but all the other keys and keyboards work just fine 👍
