I strongly believe we'll see large guitar manufactures begin growing fields of bamboo in the future. It's a viable material for solid body guitars. Fast growing and renewable.
you could easily make 3d printed hotswappable neck profiles that could fit those tubes. you could make them magnetic too. you could scan any neck via a variety of tools and cad model and print them. you could go from a 70's strat neck to a strandburg endure.
I always had something against headless guitars. I dont know why but in my eye something isnt right. But this guitar? This guitar stopped me in my tracks. Like maybe, MAYBE I might start changing my views 🤔🙃 you have an incredible eye for design, and I really love seeing bamboo elevated like this. 👏
I've used bamboo in one guitar, from a chopping board obviously! But as a feature down the centre of an ash body to cover where my pickup routes had gone wrong and it looked really good. It wasn't very kind to my tools though! I love how this guitar is in completely contrast to the one left in the garden to weather dramatically!
Now where the heck will I get my fancy cheese if there will be a uprising of charcuterie boards turning in to guitars! All in all, this is gonna be one hell of a guitar! I just hope that is gonna sound Gouda as it looks!
I've also been thinking about building a guitar out of a charcuterie board! Every time I see a really nice and big one I always think "that would make a great guitar body" 😄
it'll be very interesting to see how the neck reacts to the tension of the strings, will the neck bend at all 😮? Have you decided which string gauge to put it? it's looking incredible, super creative way to split the board into a bigger total surface tho👏👏👏
Also, hands down you are one of the most creative builders out there. Can't wait to see this beauty finished. Question: what brand is your hardware, I'd love to build my own version.
I bought the hardware simply cause it looked cool. The finish was impeccable and it was overall much shorter than most other bridges. But I'm regretting using this hardware. The tuners do not have any type of bushing or bearings. they are nearly impossible to turn by hand.
Good question. It machines wonderfully. The end mill creates chips just like wood. However, the bamboo does have a "grain" in that the strands will break if machining in the wrong direction. From what I've read, bamboo is harder than oak on the Janka scale. But it is much easier to work with wood tools than oak.
@@MarkGutierrez and now i'm tempted to see how much bamboo charcuterie boards sell for... don't have much access to the usual guitar woods down here in Australia. so this good be a good option.
There are several operations. Each operation isn't longer than 20 minutes. But there are quite a few of them. I run the CNC for about an hour every morning. I guess in total the machining took about 4 hours.
A most excellent marriage of art and engineering. Serious next level work. It's coming along nicely; it'll be a fine machine. I too am constantly finding cool guitar finishes in everyday objects. So many builds - so little time! Now I want to see you do something in brushed aluminum! .
Same here, always seeing guitar parts in everyday objects. I seriously was considering taking apart a bike frame. So many useable pre-finished pieces can become guitar necks in those frames.
@@MarkGutierrez I'm sure you'll get it done in time and I'm really curious and how it's gonna sound. And you've got the off cut if you decide to match it up after lol

Very true. I'm surprised this is the first bamboo guitar I've seen. Great work as always!
Been wondering about this myself, it's used as scaffolding so it should be strong enough for a guitar.
That would be great
You can also eat it. Also it makes a very beautiful guitar. Dang fine work.
You are not only a great luthier but an amazing designer. This is a very interesting concept, 100% unique. Love it.
He is a Great artist ❤
The bamboo looks great. Really like the crisp edges too
Ingenious, highly original and creative. Fantastic

awesome as always mark
You make it all look incredibly simple, the result so far is beautiful man!
as avid watcher of woodworking youtube channels one thing I'll never build is a cutting board but this warms my heart!
You have some of the most unique ideas I've ever seen

Beautiful guitar build!!
Looks totally Cool.
Yeah man. This is something. I think you’re onto it. Excited to see more!
That looks awesome Mark, and I completely agree about bamboo, I'm looking forward to using it in more of my future builds 😀
Fantastic. As expected
Amazing!
Awesome

guitarcuterie
Fab work as ever
amazing !
Yes!! Been waiting for this video. I love the guitar
You are making me want to cut up a headless guitar kit and do something like this...

Это невероятно, мужик!!!
Ты гений!

Same here. I got one for xmas one year, it was Purple Heart, and wedge, looked just like a body blank.
So many interesting things happening at once on this.
i love avanc 9 string guitar.. someday they have a avanc aluminum neck single billet aircraft aluminum
Incredible! Love how that all came together. The subtle epoxy use in there too.
What’s that bridge?
Have you ever thought of creating a Cnc guitar course?

I already have it strung up. The tension isn't pulling the neck at all. There is zero relief. I have 10s on there now.
It’s……amazing ! What to say else ?

What finish did you use - Salami fat?
Can someone explain to me the use of a nut in a headless guitar. I thought the headless guitar setup removed the need for a nut?
A headless guitar just moves the tuners to the bottom end. The nut and / or zero fret stay up at the "headstock" end.
hows the bamboo to work with? looks a bit like pine, as in a little prone to chunking off if you aren't careful with routing?

Hi nice guitars you build. Im thinking of buying shapeoko 5 pro to build my own guitars, would you recommend it over onefinity or x carve?
I've never used any other CNC brand. Mine Shapeoko its old and it still rocks.
Great concept. How long your Cnc took to complete the whole carving?

I like cheese, but then i also like guitars... I know!
Looking awesome , but did get slightly OCD triggered when the pattern in the cover plate didn't match lol
lol, I wish I had the time to focus on those tiny details. I'm barely gonna finish this build by the deadline.

it looks just fine unmatched. i like that it's unmatched. @@MarkGutierrez
Making guitar put of simple material is cool... but using a cnc machine to do it just defeats the purpose.
