When my Living 4D with Paul Chek podcast started getting going on all cylinders, I knew that I was going to devote an episode to the subject of open marriage and how the dynamics of having multiple partners can work in the real world.
There are two simple questions any man or women must answer before venturing into an open relationship:
    - Can you be honest?
    - Can you share your partner with someone else?
Many people like to dabble in open relationships in ways that feel far more like “puppy love” than anything really honest or “open.” Meanwhile, divorce rates are out of control, not to mention all of the shadow building that creates needless crises, emotional pain, guilt, deception and shame which ultimately leads to fatigue and disease.
I’ve seen first-hand how this deception devastates professional athletes - typically males - from within physically, emotionally and financially. I’ve watched them juggling as many as five women at one time. You just can’t compartmentalize your life like that without things falling apart.
In Episode 31 of Living 4D with Paul Chek, I talk about the realities of open marriage with Kyle Kingsbury and Aubrey Marcus of Onnit, two of my soul brothers traveling this same journey with me.
I so enjoyed my talk with Aubrey and Kyle that I wanted to share this really critical video segment in hopes that you’ll take the time to listen to our entire conversation at chekinstitute.com/podcast or on your favorite podcast service.
    One more thing…
If you want to know what I think about open relationships, here’s my stock answer: Until you can ride one horse really well, it’s really dangerous to try riding two or more at a time.

All in all, I don't think open relationships/polyamory is viable. It’s very difficult to pull it off without creating too many problems. It takes too much time, effort, energy and attention for one already, so to disperse that with multiple partners simply lessens that potential. Paul also mentioned in the description that, "Until you can ride one horse really well, it’s really dangerous to try riding two or more at a time." Yes it’s dangerous trying to ride two or more at a time, because you CAN'T ride two horses at once 😂... you have to get off of one before you can TRULY ride the other. Or, ride one while keeping the others on a leash. But again, when you're with one, you can't truly be with another. And this I what I think is going on in Paul's relationship or any other "multiple partner relationship.” It’s not that it’s wrong or impossible, it’s just that much harder when you have multiple parties involved. And when you introduce the natural tendencies of human nature, you create complications that heavily diminishes the quality of the relationship with the one you're involved with most. So if you want a deep, profound and meaningful relationship, I truly believe you have to dedicate your time, energy and focus to one person at a time.

      Hello,
My wives are both highly intelligent, capable women that would have no problem finding a suitable partner for themselves in my absence.
If you actually "listen" to the entire podcast, you'll see that we are not promoting monogamous relationships over multiple-partner relationships, but ARE promoting something much more novel, which is simply to "be honest with yourself and others you are in relationship with."
Your "intuitions" are not intuitions, they are assumptions, and they are incorrect. I've been in an open relationship with Penny from the very beginning because both of us were wise enough to know when we met each other that marriage contracts are more often social conventions than commitments from one's heart. Our agreement is, and has always been to stay together as long as we love being together more than being apart, and to give each other the space to explore their wants, needs, and desires openly and honestly. To try and control a person is merely to make them an "object", and the ego resents being controlled, which leads MANY to infidelity relative to their "marriage commitments". I don't have to keep secretes from my wives because our being together is based on a genuine desire to be together and explore life together in ways that we all agree upon. If that's not the basis of any marriage or committed relationship, then, you get what we have in the world, which is a lot of short term marriages, broken families, and worry about burning in hell for being human...
      Love and chi,
      Paul Chek

Just to make sure I got it right: I will use different colors of stones (from black to white and all in between) to gather the energy equally, and on top of the opening of the water charger, I will use an arch stone. Hey Paul. Thank you for sharing this podcast I love so much of your material. I was wondering how you could have a marriage like ceremony without legally getting married. Because legally being married isn’t something I necessarily believe in. But I do believe in having a ritual to show and claim officially your intentions.

    • @PaulChekLive
      @PaulChekLive  5 лет назад +1

      Absolutely.
That's what we all did together to consecrate our relationship with Angie (Angie, Penny and I).
I'm legally married to Penny, and have been for over 22 years. Marriage is only marriage when there is true commitment that is "Lived".
All one need do is look at the % of people with infidelity in their "marriages" to see that legal marriage is no indication of ethical or moral marriage.
At the end of the day, a marriage "contract" is no better than the actuality of the relationship.

I am neither but as a woman I would rather be alone than share my partner with another. You either have been lucky enough to have found two women who don’t care that much or perhaps they would rather share you than lose you. It’s also interesting that the one that has 2 partners is you and not your wife. But the only thing that puzzles me is why you feel the need to explain yourself? You are well respected in your field, why bring your sex life into it. If you are all happy, carry on, stop explaining. Silence is more powerful. Keep up the health tips physically you are inspiring 👏

I have been to every PT in my area and a couple chiro's and I am amazed at how uneducated they are.None have helped me.
I am one month in following the course and have made drastic improvement which no local "professional" could do.

Yes his SCC & SBT programs are like core foundational programs for every personal trainer or PT. Purchased it myself and made some leaps in my knowledge on how to adequately strengthen the core. Your rotated pelvis comes from other muscles imbalances that are discussed briefly in the course but as long as you have the drive to figure it out, this course will be essential in providing one of the pieces to the puzzle.

A couple of questions come to mind that would help me understand your decision to choose polyamory.
-Can your wives bring men into the relationship if they desire so? If not, why?
-It is difficult to get along with one woman, let alone two or more, and then the dynamics of them all needing to get along makes it much more difficult to create peace in the home.
    - I could see a disagreement with one woman causing you to need space; you could make love with another to blow off steam, so to speak. Oh, the drama and resentment that could cause. Especially if the women can go have sex with another guy as well.
-The amount of time and energy to keep everyone happy seems intense, and I can only imagine adding STDs from other sex partners into the mix. Now, unwanted pregnancy, which may have happened in your case, I don't know for sure?
-Did you talk with Penny, and did she agree to you having a child with your second wife? Was she ok with it in advance? Kids are expensive, and more wives equals more potential for kids, which equals more time and financial investment.
-California has very punitive family court laws; I could only imagine going through 2 separations in the state and the legal ramifications associated with that, and child support and alimony from multiple wives are costly.

    • @PaulChekLive
      @PaulChekLive  5 лет назад +1

      HI,
Based on our conscious or unconscious values, we draw the line.
The truth is though, that the more righteous we are in the creation, or defense of "this", the more we substantiate "that" as equally real.
For example, an atheist rejects the idea of God, yet, as Jung rightly points out, "something must be real to be rejected."
The more one makes something "good", the more polarity they generate, and to the degree that good = +, the negative is simultaneously created; Good "creates evil."
This is why Taoists, for example, practice "The Middle Way"...not too much...not too little....and in that path we both find balance, and leave room for others to live what is true for them.
      Love and chi,
      Paul Chek

I reread your post about the diva you met in 2007 who told you that earth is in bad shape due to human insanity. You said only those who learned to love and respect the earth and themself will ascend to a diffrent planet.
Maybe im stressing to much on the topic but im curious to learn what the criteria are for a soul to be allowed to reincarnate on a diffrent (higher) plane.

Hearing that you receive nasty letters from Christians saying that you're going to Hell because you're polygamous leaves me conflicted. I'm a Christian and I believe that the Old and New Testaments are the historical narratives that the Creator gave to us to show how He has interacted with humanity from the beginning of recorded history, up through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Now, do I believe polygamy is the way to the ideal relationship between human beings? No. The Scriptures, which date back to 3000~ years old, hold that monogamous relationships, in the context of marriage, are the ideal relationship for human beings. Why?
Take history out of the equation and look for the wisdom behind the story of Jacob in Genesis 29. He worked for a LONG time to earn his two wives, and he got what he wanted. But his family was full of jealousy, scheming, drama, and even murder. Did that marriage of multiple women lead to the nation of Israel, the line of David, and ultimately Jesus? Yes.
So what's the point in bringing this up? According to the writers of the Old Testament, polygamy leads to potential complication and strife... BUT (and this is a big but for a lot of people) even though it's not the ideal human partnership as laid out in the beginning, it can still be used by God for good.
Am I in support of polygamous relationships? No.
Do I think that monogamous relationships are a better way to realize love and human flourishing? Yes.
Am I going to judge Paul for his decision to have multiple wives? No.
Do I wish I had access to Paul's reasoning on why he chose to have multiple wives? Yes.
I'm open for discussion on this so if you have thoughts, drop a comment but at least recognize that you're talking with another human being and if you can use the Internet, you can have a respectful conversation. Love your work in the health, fitness, and wellness community, Paul!

      Hello,
Not sure where the Scientology comment comes from?....
I think if you "listen" to the entire podcast, there will be many fruits of awareness that can be used by anyone.
If you listen carefully, you'll find that A. I'm not promoting multiple-partner relationships for everyone, by any means (If you can't ride one horse well, its never wise to try and ride two at once...).B. If you look at the statistics regarding infidelity in committed (married) monogamous relationships, you'll find that something like 52% of people in them are having extramarital sex on the side, but trying to hide it...so is that something you prefer people do as opposed to being honest like Aubrey, Kyle, and I are??
      C. I'm not trying to "sell anything", but am offering AWARENESS of issues that are swept under the table. All you need do is look at all the sex scandals within the Catholic Church to see what happens to people that repress their natural sexuality, and play "games with God, children, and others!"
      Love and chi,

Anyone that lives true to their heart, and departs from the social norm is labeled just as you've labeled me here....It doesn't matter if it is introducing new concepts such as the Swiss ball, postural calibration, food intolerance and food allergy testing, listening to one's soul and eating as a vegetarian for a period to experience, clean, and clear, or what-have-you...small mind always react with projections of their own inner-world onto those who are doing their best to live, love and share their wisdom.
If you think I'm running a cult, then clearly you've never understood, nor practiced any of my teachings as taught; I teach my students to:
      1. Identify what you love enough to change for, and go for that.
      2. Balance yourself
      3. Make dream affirmative choices
      4. Have core values to guide your choices with regard to what is happy making for you, diet, sleep, and movement.
These are all a means of creating "individuality" and encouraging people to think for themselves, create their own happiness, and make a contribution to the world.
If you spent even 20 minutes actually researching what a cult is, and how cult leaders function to control their followers (think Hitler, or Jim Jones for example), you'd see that I would make the worst cult leader ever!
Your comments and the fact that you "left the cult" are only clear indicators that you were not ready to learn to think for yourself, be honest with meeting your needs, and devote your life to supporting others in their own growth and development.
      Many Blessings on your path...

So your 'legally' married to two women?

    • @PaulChekLive
      @PaulChekLive  5 лет назад +1

      No, I'm not.
I'm legally married to Penny and have been for 22 years.
We created our own marriage ceremony between the three of us to state our commitments to each other, thus having our own "sacred marriage contract."
Being legally married doesn't mean that 'YOU ARE MARRIED'. All it means is that you've followed a socially accepted, religiously motivated convention. As I shared in an earlier question from you, if you do your research on the issue of fidelity in "legal marriages", you'll soon see that a legal marriage isn't "a marriage", but honoring your commitments to any person you are in a committed, intimate partnership "is a real marriage."
Mark Twain once said, "Don't let your schooling get in the way of your education."
It may be worth meditating on why he said that...

You having two chicks is your own thing. But what I'm wondering is by coming out openly about this, are you trying to promote it? Or in someway normalize it? Also, the other dude saying his chick sees other men... Hmmmm. I don't think that's winning.

    • @PaulChekLive
      @PaulChekLive  5 лет назад

If you actually listen to the full podcast, you may be in position to answer your own questions... This is not about "winning", but it is about living and loving true to your heart, and doing your best to support others in doing the same. FYI, I'm not, nor are Aubrey or Kyle making a statement that monogyny is better or worse than multiple partner relationships. What we "are saying" is that one should be honest with themselves, and their partners in any committed relationship...which sadly, is VERY uncommon in most any of human relationships. Just turn on the TV and pay attention to what you see... Try looking within your own family....

These guys think they're so woke. The most important thing in the world is God, Health, Family, and your Purpose. Polyamory breaks apart the Family. Its lovely to see that you are observing....I'd suggest you put the same level of observation to those in traditional, monogamous relationships....you are likely to see that wherever there are human relationships, there are challenges, which are "growth opportunities"....Being true to your heart, and learning along the way is what's most important, regardless of what path one takes.
Christ is being found all the time. When you look at yourself in the mirror, water the plants, pet your dog or cat, love any person, place, or thing, you are expressing and embodying the Christ Principle.
Christ is the Buddha, Lao Tzu, Mohammad, Krishna, for the very word "Christ" means one who has united with The Universe, or "All That Is".

@@PaulChekLive Do you agree with me that family is an essential value? If so, what would strengthen the family unit more, polyamory or monogamy? History has shown that monogamous relationships are essential strong families. Polyamory leads to the disintegration of family.
The word "Christ" actually comes from the word "Christos", which means "anointed one".
Christ himself warns of others claiming to be him.
As someone who followed many Eastern philosophies and ways of thinking, I was deep in the New Age, I experienced how this open loop system is what leads people astray. If your mind is so open to everything, you'll go in every direction and end up no where! Life is too short!
That's why Jesus came, to show us the path. I learned that I don't have to keep being a "seeker", because the answers are in the Bible. Christianity has created some of the most successful people in the world, with the most fulfilled lives. What more can one ask for than a great and fulfilled life?

    • @PaulChekLive
      @PaulChekLive  5 лет назад +5

@@ElRevelator Our views are always a product of the stage of conscious development we are at. Our "ideas" are only "ideas" until we've lived them. Each person's experiences are uniquely their own. Jesus said, "Lift the stone, and I will be there. Split the wood, and I will be there." This means he is EVERYWHERE and within All things. This doesn't mean that Jesus Christ is "only with persons who believe in Christianity"....GOD is the Source and Sum of ALL, and when Jesus said, "I and my Father are One", he was stating that he is "One with ALL that IS, and that includes all living beings in any form, in any dimension of reality, in any space-time reality, for all are products of and inherent to The One." Christianity itself is a composite of many different philosophies. It doesn't take long at all studying the history of Christianity to find that is a river composed of many streams.
To the degree that one's "opinions" cut them off from love, respect and appreciation for all, they are not practicing "Religion", which means to Link Back, to connect to, to Unite. Humanity at large emerged from tribal societies, and we lived without marriage contracts, and monogamous relationships; "It takes a tribe to raise a child".
I'm glad that you are passionate about "your way of living and viewing the world", and I hope your heart expands (like Christ) to love and include all, or you are separating yourself from "The rest of GOD", and that means illusions are being created out of "ideas". If you read The Metaphysical Bible Dictionary, by Charles Filmore, you will find that your definition of Christ is much more narrow than its actual meanings. If you read "Rivers Of Life or Faiths Of Man" by JGR Forlong, you can see the history of all religions, and will soon find that they are all amalgams of many previous belief systems stemming from the worship of trees, the lingam and yoni, the serpent, fire, the sun, and branch progressively from there. If you study the Christian Mystics, you will find that their teachings are congruent with the teachings of all great teachers. This fact is clearly seen in the book titled "Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, Lao Tzu - The Parallel Sayings, by Richard Hooper.
Personally, I feel that if the way one lives is supportive of their ability to love, then they produce love.
If you study the history of Christianity, it is rife with crusades, and destructive acts of evil against people of other faiths; there is a big difference between "real Christianity, as taught and practiced by mystics such as St. Bernard, St. Hildegard, Myster Eckhart, St. Francis, Father Thomas Keating, Mathew Fox", and "corporate Christianity", you will find a degree of difference that can be exemplified as the difference between the Dali Lama and Donald Trump.
      Many blessings on your path.

      Paul Chek
