I’m from Jamaica and I have been hearing about this meal. In Jamaica, we have Run down, which is made with coconut milk and salt mackerel with tomatoes etc. I’m definitely going to try this national dish. .

I wonder how people used to make coconut milk before blenders were invented and widely available

    • @robertreigman1335

@@MississippiJapan They would just grate the coconut by hand. After that the proces was the same as after she used the blender.

Looks delicious- would definitely like to try it. We, in Trinidad, make ours very different and less complex. We use one meat, typically pigtail, with breadfruit and all the other vegetables.

We in jamaica call it run down, but we use the coconut cooked with salt mackerel and and sometimes it is cooked down with food or we cooked the food seperate. I am definitely going to try the Grenada and Trinidad version

Love the vibe you voice gives to the video! however, This isn't the traditional GRENADIAN Oil Down, Maybe you can say Your version of it! Grenadian Oil Down does not contain noodles, the pot should not be stirred at any time as well as the meat isn't Brown before packing the pot, in fact it isn't browned at all !

No hard feelings here, since it's a one pot meal n both chicken n pig tail mix together in the same pot why u didn't season both together in the same bowl? Just asking maybe you have a reason why.
