Thank you for representing your national dish. There are too many people misrepresenting the dish on RUclips by making a soup.

This is best, most complex and delicious looking Oil Down I've ever seen. She is an excellent Chef and instructor. This will be my first time making it. FOR ME, I wish she had described the tenderness and or certain textures she was trying to achieve for some cooking steps. Helpful tips and examples like; "not too soft or too firm," or cook it down so not soupy, look for oil to appear, etc. Cooking is sometimes by trial and error. I don't want too much error my first time making. I will definitely make it. ❤

Lovely video. One of my most favorite dishes. your spirit is nice and calm you seem like you're very patient and are a teacher at heart😊 one observation after leaving in Grenada for many years is that many Grenadains call turmeric "Safran" turmeric is a root while Safran is the most expensive Spice in the world and actually comes from a flower. Hope this helps😊

Hi there. Is it OK to use frozen Calaloo? It's fresh Calaloo that I used last time I attempted to make oil down. I didn't use all of the Calaloo, so I stuck the extra in the freezer. Is it OK to use it for a new pot of oil down?

    • @92spice18

In my opinion it’s not the same. What you guys make is actually called run down in all the other islands. Some Grenadians make the same dish that you all make in Trinidad and call it steam down or coconut rurup.
