- William Forsythe talks about the new version of Sergio Leone's 1984 classic Once Upon a Time in America that screened at the 52nd New York Film Festival. www.filmlinc.com/NYFF
Sergio Leone’s final and perhaps greatest film, a New York gangster saga housed within an intricate construction that shuttles through time, with Robert De Niro, James Woods leading a remarkable cast. This restoration, including material previously unseen in the U.S., preserves the director’s original structure.

“You will never see a movie like this again”, no truer words were ever spoken.
Only thing I feel that’s remotely close is “The Irishman” (the last time you’ll see a Scorsese mob 🎥 starring DeNiro, Pacino, Pesci, Keitel)
@@dthill96 I disagree. I liked _The Irishman_ , don't get me wrong, but it didn't feel _epic_ .
If you see William Forsythe on the screen, it's gonna be good.
Predator 2.
@@MINDxWORM lol
@@MINDxWORM is he in predator 2?? Which I like btw.. But I think you're mixed up with Gary Busey. He isn't in P2
"Raising Arizona": that character = NOTHING like "Cockeye"!
Brilliant underrated and overlooked actor, all his work is excellent.
Definitely he is one of my all time favorite 😎🎯 top shelf
William Forsythe is really an underrated actor. So many solid roles in great films and TV. And even when he's in schlocky movies, he is always still great.
A masterpiece.
This movie stays with you .
Totally unrecognizable from the characters he plays. Terrific actor.
a very fine actor
He seems like a class act. And yes this might be the greatest film ever made. At least deserves to be in the conversation.
Once Upon a Time in America. The very best, and the only spaghetti gangster movie... One of my all time favourites, along with a few other Sergio Leone movies.
William Forsythe takes everything in stride, with respect.
i have watched just about every gangster and mob film going, the irishman, the departed, the godfather film, the lot, but this one is THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN,not just a gangster film, its a coming of age story,a love story,a story about relationships and friendships, and the ennio morricone music score is just beautiful, i watched the 4hr 10 minute version and didnt want it to end, this film is a MASTERPIECE
True this is the best movie, this is better than any other gangster movie that has been ever made. The soundtrack and screencasting is the best I have ever seen, and just the way Sergio leone has directed it with the zoom ins, and everything. God I love this movie.
Personally, I think Forsythe’s best performance was in Raising Arizona. He nailed the comic aspect of that role perfectly. And partnering him with John Goodman was a great casting coup too.
Sammy Gravano in HBO’s Gotti was great
Loved him in Boardwalk Empire. I never would have recognized him in this movie, even though I watched it years before BWE was even an idea.
He is such a brilliant actor. Like a chameleon. He appears so different in all his roles. The Rock, Dick Tracy, Boardwalk Empire, Cloak and Dagger, Out for Justice etc. It's unbelievable that it is the same person!
Badass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great actor.
Akta dig
In my opinion it’s the best picture I ever seen. Best director to ever film a movie honestly. This movie captures New York City like none other I’ve ever seen. The cast was epic, the script was brilliant, a true gem 💎
The best movie I ever saw
same
True this is the best movie, this is better than any other gangster movie that has been ever made. The soundtrack and screencasting is the best I have ever seen, and just the way Sergio leone has directed it with the zoom ins, and everything. God I love this movie.
Best gangster movie I ever saw
HOLY SHIT. I’ve never seen him interviewed and it’s amazing how different he sounds. I’ve only ever seen him be a NY palooka on screen.
Same thing, and I've been watching this guy for over 30 years.
Great movie.
Hell yeah.
By far the best film ever made
I always liked him. Very good actor!
The movie was , PURE ART. Cock eye was brilliant
William Forsythe, Philip stein (Cockeye) is one of my favorite character in the movie "Once Upon a Time in America". I enjoy his music as well. The fun he was having with the baby milk bottle was hilarious. That was a very bad behavior and then he end up sticking his chewing up on the name plate attached to his stolen uniform. That movie is excellent!
The Best movie ever made. The best soundtrack ever made. In. The. Same Film.
"Anybody seen Richie!???" ;)
I wish i could watch the whole 6 hrs film
Same man
Why about the 8 hour original version :D?
I agree, I would love to see all of the footage too
@@oliverolsen77 THAT EXISTS?
@@adrianothegoat It was _filmed_ but probably no longer exists.
Onde upon a time on América, devil's rejects! Great moviel with William Forsyth!
Raising Arizona too
@@roromoho he was also great on boardwalk empire
Things to do in Denver when you're dead.
It's Manny Horvitz!
If I had one criticism of Leone’s epic, it’s probably that Patsy and Cockeye didn’t get enough focus for characters who should have been so much more important to the story. While they aren’t underused, I really wish they had gotten more attention. Maybe they did in Leone’s intended 6 hour cut or the 4 and a half hour version.
Will done fantastic job. Love the movie
He is talking about artistic freedom!! Its just as important as freedom of speech.
Great actor.
He was brilliant as Sheriff John Quincy Wydell.
Best character in all those movies….pissed me off so much he got killed
Glad to see Morris is alive and well!!!!!
Best gangster flick
he was so great as Flat Top in Dick Tracy, as well as the villain in City by the Sea
He sounds just like Robbie Robertson the guitarist from The Band. The sound of their voices is identical.
Raising Airzona!
happy soon bday.all the beststy legendsty.
"Anybody seen Richie!!!"
Anybody know why Richie did bobby lupo
True magic
knew a good tune, cockeye did.
Anyboy seen Ritch-- oh wait, here he is.
I'm gonna keep coming back here until someone remembers seeing Ritchie
Did Raging Bull 2 get a release eventually? Be good to see.
It's almost forty now😊
Was gonna happen is gonna happen
Me and Gino bang heads...
Ice
He was great in Deuce Bigalow. 😂
Pisses me off, they ruined everyone of Michael Ciminos movies after
"Heavens Gate" which I the final cut is amazing.... I think because these men showed life objectively
Boardwalk empire, Gotti... Great performances.
Big Bill is very good.
Sergio picked actors and actresses that had a certain quality for the roles a lot go for this few accomplish it
Over twenty years ago, I rented it and turned it off at the telephone scene. Just recently I watched it on Netflix and it was great. I don't know whether the version I didn't watch was the good one or the butchered one.
I gotta agree: this film gets 99/100......Why not perfect?
Because of that damn telephone.
The best movie in the all time
Cockeye!
Good actor...👍..agent fbi in the movie dead bang..whit don jhonson😉😉😉grat movie🌟🌟
Sophie Marceau father
I dont think so
How can he speak so highly of the original cut yet he never even bother to watch it 😅😂
The U.S. Version is much like the US ..shit!
You project your prejudices.
Clean your own house.
right here, he looks like Jimmy Hoffa.
