    One important point to note...believe it or not level caps are overrated they do matter for non mage followers but for mages what matters is spells and that isn't affected by levels...so while serana can cast ice storm and chain lightning teldryn casts firebolt (also revenant versus flame atronach is no brainer) to explain more take Jzargo for example...no level cap but he spams sparks like an idiot levels don't increase damage for spells so he is basically useless whereas talvas who has one of the lowest level caps of 25 casts ice storms and fireballs like a maniac and uses armor spells and summons which Jzargo doesn't another factor is perks...Jzargo has no perks even though he could be freaking level 150 but talvas,serana and even other mages in the college have very nice perks for what they do so please please please as a professional skyrim content creator whom I respect and watch his videos as soon as they come out don't make this common mistake of only looking at level caps for followers people who watch your videos might get misguided by hearing those

    • @altabalder
      @altabalder 7 месяцев назад +7

      Totally agreed. Personally I like to use commands to break their level cap but that's unrelated.
      Weirdly enough, I've only seen Serana use Ice Storm after I broke her limit; before that she only used Ice Spikes, but maybe that's just me (She's a heck of a buggy NPC after all).

    • @alirafati9340
      @alirafati9340 7 месяцев назад +1

      @altabalder she starts casting chain lightning and ice storm from level 48(and is capped at level 50) she also has one rank augment Frost perk which makes her ice storm hit harder she also has necromancy (not dark souls unfortunately) and some one handed and light armor perks
      In my opinion her two most annoying things are that first off she might turn someone you want to make a dead thrall of turn into Ash and second she weakens your vampire lord drain spell SIGNIFICANTLY (you can fix the latter by the unofficial patch)
      One more thing that I forgot to mention are follower races teldryn and talvas have fire resistance for example and nords have Frost resistance (serana is immune to Frost because she is also a vampire and even when cured she has one rank magic resist which still amounts to lots of Frost resistance)

    • @altabalder
      @altabalder 7 месяцев назад

      @@alirafati9340 From my experience, I was around level 80+ when I tried breaking her level for the first time. She only used Ice Spikes before, I'm sure of it. But yea the Vampiric Drain thingy is rly bad; it made me think Vampire Lord was garbage for a long time because I always had her as a follower.

    • @TypicalPirate55
      @TypicalPirate55  7 месяцев назад +4

      That is true, but I believe that serana still uses melee attacks too, right? Been a while since I’ve had her as a follower to be honest.

    • @alirafati9340
      @alirafati9340 7 месяцев назад +1

      @TypicalPirate55 you're right serana and other vampire allies including thrall tend to close the distance because of their AI trying to force them into using the drain spell but the higher her level the less she gets up close and personal specially if you,your summons or her summons keep the enemies at bay...but as a vampire class she Also is good in melee she's slightly worse then teldryn in close range battles because teldryn has awesome one handed perks but she is more durable because of the constant heals (she is NOT my favourite follower not because she's bad but there's just plenty of better options) all I wanted to say was that just because her cap is 10 lower than teldryn doesn't mean she's weaker (talvas is level 25 and is better than both of them without any doubt for example) I keep coming back to the J'zargo example but there's just no better examples there XD he is useless and I fight anyone over this fact lmao

    Apperently circle of protection has a hidden feature that makes it nearly broken. The circle is a source of magicka that's seen as offensive magicka, even if it affects only certain level capped undead. Now with that being an offensive spell that typically doesn't harm you the player, it can act as an amzing magicka battery if you have some levels of magicka absorbtion. Like with the atronach perk for example. That circle with the right build acts as a limitless supply of magicka.

    Healing Spells are very good for tanky One-Handed/HeavyArmor combos because with certain perks they will also heal your stamina which you need for heavy attacks. With the right entchantments you can basically achieve unlimited heavy attacks especially with the health/stamina healing combo

    Alright first off great video i always enjoy your content
    Now let me add some things to what youve already mentioned...someone did mention the absorb glitch i wont say that gain but heres another tip...unlike illusion,dual casting doesnt affect the level caps for restoration spells but there is a single exception which is circle of potection allowing it to affect even high level undead...another things that does affect it is the necromage perk which you can use to affect higher level undead.
    Second tip,bane of undead is one of the two master spells that can be dual casted (ikr) the animation doesnt change but you use up 2.8 times the magicka for a 2.2 times strength(still wont affect higher levels see my first tip)
    Third tip: for cloak spells including the destruction ones the magnitude doesnt affect the damage but the range (wont change the visuals) dual casting and potions and other fortify restoration affects (not enchants except a few exceptions) increase magnitude and therefore increase the range so makes them viable for mages.
    Finally my last tip: there is one instance when lesser ward is better than higher level ones and thats versus dragons,you see dragons breath deals damage in lots of very low damaged ticks. The stronger the dragon the faster the ticks but ticks are still minimal damage each...how wards work is that when they take a hit they lose some hp which starts to regenerate fast since the ticks of dragon breath deal very little damage each the shield heals back up completely before the next tick and you can stand the strongest dragon's breath by only using lesser ward :)))

    Something that I feel is very overlooked for two handed weapon (or non-mage centric) gameplay is the power in the restoration skill branch that also restores stamina when casting healing. Makes killing dragons a breeze and damn near eliminates the need for stamina potions outside of desperate situations when you cant find a pause in a fight. Plus when you get the upgrade for faster healing time when double casting makes a seriously broken combo where you can just constantly power attack with 100 dmg+ weapons

    My big problem with restoration is not much to it, you either heal, ward, or scare away undead. Wards are pretty much useless since enemy mages will quickly break through them. The only fun thing about Restoration is that Poison Rune spell.

    I believe Repel Lesser Undead is in the top five in the restoration tree. However, it's not for its intended use. Restoration is notoriously hard to level and takes ages to get anywhere meaningful. RLU gives an insane amount of experience and hits many targets as well as not costing an insane amount of Magicka.
    Once you can cast the spell once go find some draugr and cast it on all of them. Wait for them to run into a corner and wait an hour as you are not in combat if they are feared for some reason. Then repeat. It gets easy when they bunch up in a corner and you will level very fast. You also gain the xp if its on a target you conjured

    The idea behind poison being in the Restoration school isn't related to the Undead. It plays off the idea that too much medicine is poison. So it's like an overdose of restoration.

    The turn undead spells are great for leveling restoration even at higher levels you can find lower level enemies from time to time. The main use of the undeal heal and necromantic healing in my mind, has always been the use of the wrathman. They are an undead equivalent to the daedric summons, Wrathman have more HP and a slightly better weapon, but deal less base damage, and have no enchantment on their weapon. However, unlike the daedra that can't be healed at all, wrathman can constantly be healed to use as a barrier between you and your foes.
    In contrast, Daedra summons have higher weappn skills and a 25 damage fire enchantment. They do about 50% more damage, but have about 65% as much health as the wrathman. And absolutely nothing can heal them, meaning when you resummon the daedra you can get bpc aggro.

    Undead healing spells are for undead thralls and Healing Hands are to be used like Flame, it's a status for a small time period, so just rapidly click it to apply more layers of effect for less magicka cost, all the turn undead spells deserve be at bottom, a spell that drain so much magicka but deals no damage.

    Why is serana your only target for the undead healing spells?
    Reanimations and undead summons count for this as well.
    I also want to point out that the undead heal spells don't heal less than the regular ones. They just heal faster. The regular ones are technically less than .03 mana per hp more efficient vs the undead focused ones and that variance gets even smaller once all enchants and parks are obtained.
    You need to remember their base healing value is balanced around the necromage perk.
    They are very useful if you're going for a necromancer build. Enemies tend to focus whatever is closer so you can stand back pump all your points into mana and just let your thrall kill everything while you're free to blast destruction spells and heal them as needed.

    At higher levels still appear undead of lower levels so turn undead spells aren't completely useless.
