Dragonbreaks: • The MOST Confusing Con...
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

I agree it’d make a massive difference in our world but uh, the biggest? Conjuration lorewise could cause some pretty ridiculous changes. Alteration and mysticism would likely be used in very clever ways to basically break our reality. Restoration would be huge but it would just be like a super good medical community.
Alteration mysticism and Conjuration have no real-world corollaries and could break our civilizations.

A very interesting line of thought just crept into my mind. Could Restoration be the key to true Immortality? Have the Mages and Sorcerors of Tamriel been going about achieving this ambitious dream all wrong all along? Would such a feat be blasphemous if it was ever achieved? Is Restoration alone not enough? Would one need to combine another school of magic to truly become a god? Mages, we must confer!

    • @daviddragonheart6798
      @daviddragonheart6798 2 года назад +3

@@darkspawn4980 Alteration, Alchemy, and Restoration will be necessary. Restoration to keep the body alive by giving life to it. Alteration: to ALTER the physical form to allow the extension of one's lifespan beyond what should be possible (since Alteration changes matter and the physical forces to something else, makes sense). Alchemy would be used to either prolong one's immortality (by potentially reversing/slowing aging), or as the catalyst for both Alteration and Restoration to extend one's life.
Could it be possible? Most likely. However, it cannot come without a cost. Such procedure would be very costly materially and spiritually (magicka cost to even attempt such a feat would be too great for one mere mage). If anything, it may be more reasonable to EXTEND one's lifespan to live for longer, rather than give the metaphorical and metaphysical finger to aging by living forever.

@@FerunaLutelou I think restoration is basically needed as a melee character if you don't have mods for carrying absurd numbers of potions. • @FerunaLutelou
      @FerunaLutelou 5 лет назад +1

If you have problems carrying a lot of potions then its not cause you dont have enouph carry weght, its cause you dont know how to manage your inventory. Potions dont weight much, but that trashy enchanted sword you picked up from another bandit is as heavy as at least 15 potions. That enchanted armor that you use for smithing? Leave it at home, you dont need it in your adventures. You dont need mods to be able to carry a lot of shit with you. Picking up weapons and armor from enemies will not bring you much gold anyway. melee characters can live just fine without any restoration spells. All you are doing by using restoration magic is wasting time and magica. If you are not wasting magica cause of the enchantments then you are wasting an enchantment slot.
Nobody is saying that you shouldnt use restoration, its just that its a bad skill/spells and there are much better alternatives.

This gave me an idea for a RP build: the Missionary
A youth from Summerset, proficient in magic, but not having seen much use in learning Restoration. He also didn't see what was so great about the way of life for the races of man. Like many Altmer, he thought they were just naturally better. And their version of the gods too were superior to man's, especially Talos.
But then it was a Nord that got him out of Helgen, and Nords that gave him supplies for the road in Riverwood. Their compassion struck something deep inside him.
Following Riverwood, have him wander around, fighting beasts, you could say that he was mulling over his new outlook on Nords. Eventually, he contracts a disease, and that's when you make your way to Whiterun. But do *not* go to anything with a word wall.
Walking through the streets, he could feel his strength failing him, as the disease drained him. Eventually he collapsed, right at the foot of the Talos statue, and in his mind he scoffed at the idea that he was going to die listening to a man scream the praises of a god he didn't believe in. As his consciousness began to fade, all he could do was hold onto the shrine in a vain attempt to get up, as darkness clouded his vision.
But then, suddenly, there was a flash of gold, and his vision cleared. Not only that; he could feel his head clear and strength return to his limbs. Pulling himself up, he noticed no one around that seemed to have cast any spell, or was even capable of it, and no one spoke up. The only voice he heard was the priest praising Talos.
And it was in that moment he understood. Somehow, Talos was real after all, he had known the plight of the sickly Altmer laying at his shrine, and had decided, for some reason, thar he was deserving of a god's mercy, and had purged the sickness. But there was more. He could feel it inside him. The elf had been given a power, something he didn't quite understand, but that he knew he would have to find out. In that moment, the Altmer man became a worshipper of Talos. He became the Missionary, a man devoted to giving others the comfort and healing that he himself found in the arms of the God of Mankind.
From here on, have the Missionary learn the Restoration school. Heal others often, and without hesitation, with a Restoration spell always in his right hand. And in his left, a Destruction spell, with which he cuts down anyone who would hurt without caring, or an Alteration spell to strengthen his defenses.
The Missionary always wears an Amulet of Talos, and will try to keep Talos's shrine blessing as often as he can. For clothing, he'll be wearing the highest ranked Robe of Restoration you can put him in, and normal boots and gloves. While his neck needs the Talos amulet, an enchanted ring and circlet combo, both with Magicka enchantments, could be useful to the build.
His primary skill will be Restoration, as talked about previously, and you'll want to grab every perk
He studied Destruction for a long time, and everything but Master Destruction and Rune Master will be needed, because Destruction spells will be your damage dealer. You won't likely be using runes or cloaks often.
Alteration is what you'll use instead of armor. With all the perks up to Adept Alteration, plus Stability, it'll be like you're wearing full Ebony armor with how much damage you're resisting.
From Enchanting, give him Soul Siphon and everything on the middle branch up to Corpus Enchanter, allowing him to make a powerful reinforcement to his magic abilities by rings and circlets that he himself enchanted.
Lastly, give him everything on the right branch of Alchemy, all the way up to Purity, so that he can have a stock of potions to keep his meters full.
For factions, the Missionary will, predictably , join the College of Winterhold, where he'll meet the three companions I most recommend for him, and also Colette, with whom he strongly agrees with on the validity of Restoration and will eagerly take lessons and buy items from. He can also join the Dawnguard and Companions if you like, but most likely won't want to keep the monstrous forms of the vampire lord and werewolf. Going to Solstheim and helping out the Redoran, Telvanni, and Skaal are also on the table. He can join either the Stormcloaks or Legion, that part doesn't matter much, although I think the Stormcloaks fit better with the whole Talos thing. He absolutely will not join the Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild, and has no interest in Harkon's offer. He chooses the Greybeards over the Blades, for their connection to Talos and their greater compassion.
The Missionary has no qualms helping worshippers of the other Divines or even Daedra, as long as what they request is something good or can at least be justified. This means that getting Daedric artifacts are entirely plausible, even if the build doesn't have q use for any of them. Azura's Star and Volendrung are absolutely allowed because he gets them by good deeds. Sheogorath's quest can be seen as good in a sense because you're easing Pelagius's turmoil, so it can be allowed, as can Hircine's if you side with Sinding. Hircine's ring will also make keeping lycanthropy more viable if you join the Companions. Vaermina's quest can be done, but the Missionary will let the Skull be banished if he does it. All the other Daedric quests should be avoided.
In roleplaying, the Missionary is a completely good aligned person. He heals the sick, he defends the weak, he helps the downtrodden. If he adopts a kid, it should be the ones most needing it. He never steals from another person, he doesn't kill or hurt innocent people, and he won't allow injustices to stand.
Beyond that, don't let him interact with Dragonborn things until after the bit with the shrine, because in roleplay, he wasn't Dovahkiin until Talos turned him into one.
All this out of the way, he's all yours. Enjoy playing your very very good boy.

Restoration is a must-have for any battlemage. Being able to burn your enemies to cinders means nothing if you don't live to tell the tale, and being able to instantly recover from that one stray arrow or spell that might otherwise have done you in is well worth having to save some magicka that you'd otherwise have spent casting a slightly more powerful fireball... Remember, if your well of magicka runs dry, it'll eventually refill, but if your health runs out, that's it for you...

The only thing I hate about resto is the fact that it is forced artificially to level up super slowly for no logical reason.

Skyrim Build Idea: The Cursed Guard
Backstory: There was once a hold guard that worked in Whiterun. He was the average family man, and worked his hardest. But, one day, something bad happened to him. He was turned into a werewolf... Now, he can turn willingly, or he turns every full moon. No-one knows his dark secret as of now, and the player is that guard.
    Equipment:
    Whiterun guard helmet
    Whiterun guard robes
    Fur boots
    Axe of Whiterun
Whiterun guard shield (Depends of weather the axe of Whiterun is one handed or two handed)
Torch (Depends on the same conditions listed above)
    Lives in: Breezehome
Note: You can use whatever hold guard you want, I just found Whiterun's needed equipment the easiest to get.

I wonder how far the magic in the restoration school can go. Can you maybe heal your age like go from a old body to young again. Making wounds heal inmidiatly making you a unstoppable force. Or even create new life on your own.

Restoration is the best school of magic, wildly versatile over various different character styles, whether I'm playing as a pure mage glass cannon that slings destruction spells or a 2h heavy armor wearing brute I always take the time to use and level my restoration magic because it's saved my life more times than spamming minor heal potions has

I'd like to see a super powerful cold-ass restoration master who, through creativity, used restoration in battle to great effect in the next Elder Scrolls.
You see some bandit insult him because he uses restoration spells instead of his vastly superior "flames", after which the bandit spontaneously grows large cysts all over his body and eventually explodes in a bloody cloud. Asking him about it he just casually claims that _"too much healing with nowhere to go can be quite volatile."_
Restoration could possible be the most brutally horrific school of magic, huh?

This is how i think it should be
Mysticism - wards, soul trap, reflect, absorb, Mark and recall, conjuration spells(conjuration is mysticism specialized in the relms of oblivion) , weakness , enchanting , anything that alters magic at a fundamental level
Alteration- invisibility, the flesh type spells, muffle, levitation, paralyze , fortify, burden, restoration spells(restoration is alteration magic specialized for living beings) , anything that directly alters reality
Destruction fire , ice , electricity, and spells that harm undead , other elemental or harmful magics
Illusion- frenzy, calm , fear , anything that effects the psyche
Shadow magic- the manipulation of the "shadow" cast by items , events, or people cast to control the past , present, and future , pure padomaic magic

Even though I don’t use it all the time, I like restoration, and is handy if there is a sword in your right hand to stay in the fight longer.

Now, this is the story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
    Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the Jarl of a town called Windhelm
In southern Skyrim born and raised
In High Hrothgar was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' in peace
And all letting some FUS-RO-DAH to release
    When some thousand elves
Who were up to no good
Startin shedding blood in my neighborhood
I got in one argument and Arngeir got scared
I said 'I'm movin' with my brothers to go to war"
I whistled for a horse and when it came near
It had a big carriage like a mighty pioneer
If anything I can say is that this ride is primm
But I thought Man forget it Yo home to Skyrim
I pulled up to a castle about seven or eight
And I yelled to the driver 'Yo homes smell ya later'
    I looked to my kingdom
    I was finally home
To sit on my throne as the Jarl of Windhelm

It's ironic how mages pursuing immortality will spend their entire lives researching almost any field of magic EXCEPT restoration. I mean... Come on. It's the ONLY category of magic that _explicitly_ revolves around keeping people alive and healthy.

Using restoration to attack undead is like the magic trying to force the impurities (undead mind) out of the undead body to "heal" (destroy) the undead.
