After I got my Road King back from the stealership after the 1K mile break in service the original oil filter was left on and one bolt was missing from the primary cover. I said screw it and went nuts. Well I didn’t have any issues with my after market parts or my own install. Warranty is over and it still performs great! I have the service manual and proper tools and ability. I’ll take it from here H-D.
Read the Magnason-Moss act. They MUST prove without a doubt that the aftermarket parts caused the issue you are reporting... I.e. your exhaust didn't cause your wheel to go out of round
@@OnPointFirearmsM/M Act doesn't apply to non EPA compliant parts. Adam did address the fact that the after market parts could void your warranty for the part of the motorcycle that it affected.
This is why I will never buy any Screaming Eagle crap. Somebody paid off the EPA big time. What a blatant RIPP OFF! It's ok to have performance exhaust and be covered by warranty as long as it's the Harley brand stuff? Fn joke. If S.E. exhaust is legal and so great, why doesn't Harley put them on new bikes? Because it's all about Ripping their customers off for the Corporate Good. Oh well, maybe Polaris will buy them out and put them in the Victory file.
Very good explanation. Installing parts not being within EPA rules may also have a negative impact on your insurance. Well this can be the case in Australia. I was fortunate enough to have the Stage III upgrade (FXLR to 114) with SE mufflers and SE Air cleaner installed by the HD Dealer from day 1. As you say, everything is now covered under the new bike Factory warranty for the entire period. Imagine the 'pull' on a bike with a 114 (Stage III) and weighting significant less than your HD tourer - I love it!
So why doesn't HD put these parts on to begin with... Oh yeah, like buying a rum and coke for $6... But without the rum. If yA want rum, it's another $5.... Good thing I drink at home, huh? 😂😂😂
Confusing subject. Not what my dealer is saying. Bike still under warranty. If aftermarket pipes cause the problem, that repair isn’t covered. But everything else is still under warranty.
I wouldn't worry about a Harley warranty. they are going down hill anyway,, just my opinion. you couldn't give me a Harley,, well you could i will just sell it for a quick sale.
Good Video Adam. Warranty explanation is something I continually have to explain to people. Just a side note. If you buy the additional 5 years of warranty (Technically called Extended Service Plan) it "attaches" to the end of your two year factory warranty for a total of 7 years of coverage. All genuine H-D parts you install during the first 60 days of NEW bike ownership are then Registered to the VIN in all H-D's data bases on the SWR (Sales & Warranty Registration). Where Screamin' Eagle Parts are the most important of these items, ALL H-D Parts and Accessories can be registered under this "Custom Coverage" available in the first 60 days of Ownership. So Potentially you can have all your Screamin' Eagle Engine work Covered for 7 Years! Then as long as you don't exceed 75,000 miles you can renew your warranty for an additional 5 years for a total of 12 years risk-free engine work. Doesn't make any sense to get performance work done any other way. When are we gonna do a dual Vlog man?
Are you sure about that? I bought a new 2018 Electra Glide on Nov. 4th 2017 and bought the 5 year extended service plan and my contract says it expires on Nov.4th 2022.
Schnot, because its practically tradition that people customize the hell out of their Harleys. All this warranty red tape really puts a damper on that.
When you just spent 20-35k for a bike and you pump up the engine and it takes a shit because HD had a bad casted piston/part, do you want to pay out of pocket vs HD?
Cause bad parts do make it thru inspection and become lemon vehicles. Would you rather get a brand new engine for free or have to spend $5k for a new engine?
Adam.. in 1978 I bought a new 1977 Superglide the 78's hadn't hit the showroom floor yet...my Superglide came with an after-market 2 into 1 exhaust system from Alphabet..( covered under the warranty)I even had extended the warranty...I was in the service department every Friday for the first 5 weeks of ownership not because I was having problems, I was rolling over 500 miles a week and that was part of the deal... the owner of Hugo's HD thought I was having problems with my Glide...he was amazed I was able to work and rack up them miles...that's not a problem when.. (A) you ride everywhere and (B) you pick a destination for dinner 50 plus miles from home every night...oh to be young again...enjoy your videos...keep'em coming..
HD needs to, RIGHT NOW, rename that upgrade package to the “ASR Stage 4 Kit”, then send you royalties towards your mission, with every kit sold/installed. Why not?
Hard break in ! Do the 1000 mile service... ride the shit out of it for 3000 more miles , change the fluids once again.. If she doesnt let go... shes good, then start modding !!!! S.E. parts suck ass. ditch the cat. Give the bike more fuel and air.... it'll run cooler and last longer. # 1 enemy for engines is heat.. The EPA mandates Harley to lean out the bikes for better emissions . good for the environment ? Yes, Is it good for longevity and health of an air cooled engine ? fuck no.
I guess I need to make said statement more clear. Harley motor company ; we believe if we are reading these corp. balance sheets right ; has about 500 million dollars "more" debt, than the 1.6 billion as reported. We believe is still true the last CEO of HD depleted most all the extra funds from the off-shore bank acounts in Ireland, and other accounts, before he left HD a few years ago. Harley simply is no longer able to generate the cash flow to service all these debts.... Now, the Mil-8 engine is big loser for this company. Twin cooling and oil cooling such an abortion for an air-cooled motor of this size. Is well known the Mil-8 factory "light pressure" oil rings will allow the motor to foul the spark plugs after 20k miles. Cam chain tensioner pads, and cam bearings still only good for about 20k miles before they explode inside the motor. Primary chain tensioner also problematic after HD went back to primary chain drive after running primary belt drive back in the 1980's. Also, Doc Harley confirms his practice of voiding factory and extended warranties based on "Black Flags" generated from on-board BCM computer module. All these are intention design flaws in order to continue to boast dealership "Shop Income" based on broken motors. We can only assume many other dealers follow the same practice, as we can read the source code software for the BCM. We Have HD Company e-mails and finance balance sheets we uploaded to Wiki-Leaks for further review. Many internal message traffic complains parts orders from catalog falling behind company sales goals. Bike orders of 500cc, 750cc, and Live Wire falling behind company sales goals. Given the steady decline of HD stock price over last five years, diminishing quarterly reports, and company now falling behind on loan payments, we predict Harley Davidson will fall into receivership next couple years.......
If you dont have every single service /oil change done at a Harley dealer (300 to 500$) They will deny warranty! Harley warranty sucks period and I'll never buy another new Harley again ....BTW screaming eagle shit sucks
Adam I don't think that is Harley Davidson is only warranty problem on the performance side. Hardly davidson has a hard time honoring the regular warranty on the stock motorcycles. As I said the idea that you stuff a piston with 22000 miles with new rings on it into a brand new cylinder. No mechanic shop would ever do that except for the motor company. The reason I went to a different brand a motorcycle where your reply lad to. Is because the motor company's terrible handling of normal warranty claims. Maybe a dress just normal warranty problems a and that will also solve a lot of the mistrust of the motor company because of problems with parts that come on a stock bike. Remember Adam they promote this motorcycle as a premium motorcycle
Your Right same with dealers forcing you to have services/oil changes done by them ..the BAR made that Illegal about 30 years ago but Harley is still trying to pull this warranty fraud anyways....which is why their loosing so much sales to Indian and metric cruisers...Because they actually stand behind and warranty their products!
Whats funny is those crazy rad high performance parts are actually just to make the bike sound like the motor company has led us to believe it should sound like. I love Harley but theyre acting like hypocrites
The EPA regulates all vehicle sold in the US, not just Harleys. However, the only complaints that I hear from other serious riders is from Harley owners and HD giving some Bull Shit excuse to not cover something under warranty. Like the dude I heard about on the news that had been buying HDs for decades and on his most recent bike the transmission crapped out. The HD dealer told him it was from the US flag on the back of his bike causing so much drag that it CAUSED the failure and was not included under warranty so he had to pay to repair a brand new bike! Hopefully, there was enough input from viewers that they decided to cover it, but it just proved to me, once again, that Harley is a scam. They are great at selling you propoganda, and PR, but lousy at building great bikes. HD charges a fortune for a shit bike that requires thousands of dollars extra to make it even close to be worth having, only to have it break down soon enough. The only bikes I EVER see broke down on the side of the road are Harleys...hence, my reason for calling them Hardly Runningson. People talk about the camaraderie of Harley owners, but this is because you just might need to help push one home and want the help. However, after over 50 years of riding I can assure you that there is no difference between HD riders and any other bike rider, they will all help if it is ever needed...it's simply a biker fellowship thing, not a Harley thing. Even Sonny Barger of Hell's Angels fame says screw Harley. He even goes so far as to say that if they had known the superior rides for a better price and easier to repair, when rarely needed, unlike Harleys, that the Japanese manufacturers were going to come up with, most bikers in that day would have said fuck Harley and rode a Honda, Kawasaki, etc. He went on to say that now that it has become the image, he rides an HD, because idiots expect it, but he would rather ride a BMW or Honda. I drank the Harley Kool-Aid, ONCE, and won't do it again. If you are new to riding, do yourself a favor and don't waste money on a Harley, buy a much better bike for much less money that will give you greater reliability, a smoother ride, less expensive to insure, cost less in any parts you might want to add, V-H makes loud pipes for most bikes now...if you are into that sort of thing...and since it is a pipe not made for a Harley will cost less, too. The ONLY thing that Harley is truly number at is being stolen. Just shows how stupid criminals actually are. Oh, and the Jap bike manufacturers won't void your warranty over some stupid B.S. like Hardly Runningson is notorious for...sure, blame the EPA. Fuck Harley!
OK Adam I'll bite. I want to buy a brand new Harley Davidson road glide all truck did the screamin Stage 2. Upgraded the stereo and the speakers Removable lowers kit and removable tour pak yet 975 pounds empty $37000. They wanted to give me $10000 for the bike I bought From them 3 years before for 30. Granted I'm a high miles guy 48000 miles. Just couldn't do that again. Drove 2 miles down the street bought a highly competitive motorcycle to the road glide with everything the road glide had and more for 10000 less now 3 years later no problems no work no warrantee no problems. That road glide that I was traded in had a cracked front cylinder from the factory nobody could find for 22000 miles. Then Harley Davidson decided to buy a new front jog stuff the old piston in with new rings it and call it A-day. That was their idea of a warranty. And you know Adam as a mechanic you never stuff and old piston into a new cylinder. The rear cylinder still had 22000 miles on it. They chose to do nothing about it other than buy me a new cylinder and the labor for the front Cylinder. So the dealer knew he was losing my business after 10 bikes and offered to give me the parts at his cost and do the labor for free the rear cylinder cost me $97 to screamin Eagle pistons cost me a $102 150 For the ring set. Labor was free. So here's the deal it's not if you modify your engine even Harley Davidson has got a badd business model idea. Look they wanted to stuff and old piston in a new cylinder I wouldn't do that to my Briggs and Stratton Lawn mower. So that's my story of Harley Davidson warranty and it didn't have anything to do with poor performance parts he had had to do with the Attitude of the motor company. Remember I had 450000 miles on Harley Davidson before this experience. And as I say Harley Davidson the world's best motorcycle manufactured by the world's worst T-shirt company
Best way to avoid the void is to never buy a H-D. I was a service manager at a metric dealer for over 6 years and was never denied warranty consideration on anything ! Since Adam made this video he has switched to Indian. This fuzzy math and looking for a reason to say no to the customer has a lot to do with the reason Indian is winning sales from H -D . If you make a side by side comparison you'd be nuts to select the H-D
Richard Merrifield except an Indian isn’t a Harley Davidson. Harley is it’s own league and they compete with no one. People that want a Harley will always buy a Harley. I wanted A Harley. It’s brand new. 2020 Low Rider S. I’ll be buying other bikes next but I’ll ALWAYS have at least 1 Harley in the garage even if it means I can only have 1. Harley will be the last to go.
Harley 2 yr warranty ran out and went to dealership to extend and they offered a warranty from another 3rd party company what do you think about buying warranty from another company other then harley davidson , so, my local dealer offered a mechanics choice warranty on a 2019 street glide that I bought new 2 years ago your thoughts
Adam. I would first like to thank you for the well laid explanation on warranty. I’m a vet who has to make the change from 2 wheels to 3. But I am worried about the M8 horror stories. Has all the oil and break issues been resolved? Triglides are a lot more money, I don’t want catastrophic failed to fall into my pocketbook.
What if you still have HD factory warranty but the failure of a Screamin Eagle part (after its 1yr warr period has ended) causes the failure of other parts?
George Costanza the bikes warranty is unaffected so it’ll be covered. The 1yr warranty on the screamin eagle parts is for if the pipe or air cleaner cracks. That part is covered under the 1yr manufacturer warranty. Bikes warranty is unaffected and HD will look at it is a stock part.
Isn't this mainly on 2017 + models? I made damn sure when i bought my 2016 fxdb that i wont be voiding any warranty if i put Non screaming eagle parts on.
Bro you did a wonderful job on letting us know about how the warranty from HD affects the parts you choose to add to your new bike the kit's ect. And enjoyed the video about your up grade as well brother and your correct about if you add aftermarket parts and products to your Harley it will avoid your warranty but SE been making parts since 1969-70 and it was mostly to hop up your motor's can kit's ect then they started making parts for Harley when they production of the SE line of Harley's a lot of the kit's were put into drag bike's SE has a hellva good line of kit's for the HD line my cam's in my Sporty are SE cam's and epa sucks that's why folks try to get more outta their motors and make them breathe better to so when you twist that throttle you haul ass and stay up with the pack but see my Harley is 21yrs old and I am getting ready to slam that 1250 kit come winter time and have a screaming Sporty it's fine now but need more HP myself so I can scoot down that highway Okay brother can't wait to see you and Scooter together again soon Hey Scooter how you like your Dad's new bike now? Love to the Scooter aka Roo. Ride Safe my brother's We are the American's Dream until all your Dreams come true Just buy the damn motorcycle. I will see you in July in Michigan brother bring Scooter to.
Hey Adam thanks for explained that warranty I don’t have a bike yet but I’m planning to get one next year and this is one of the thinks sometimes the buyers don’t consider because we’re all excited about the “new bike” but it’s very important I appreciate p.s. I used to have a 2007 HD NIGHT TRAIN and I miss it any ways thanks Adam great job!
So, if you fit a Stage-IV kit 6 months after bike purchase and a Stage-IV part fails 13 months later and takes out the crank, does the 2-year warranty cover you for the crank?
Well fuck...I bought a used '19 883 from the dealer and it came with Bassani Firepower 3" slip-ons already installed. I also bought the extended warranty along with it, but did not know about this part of it until recently. Do you think that this would effect the warranty if something were to happen to the engine?
Say I do as you suggested and put a screaming eagle stage 1,2,3 or 4 on the bike as I purchase it, before I take it of the shop floor. What happens to all them brand new parts including exhaust they take off the new bike? Do I get a bag full of parts leaving or can they keep them and give me credit for the stage parts
No other bike sold in this country uses it's "warranty" to make ownership a cluster.Rather, metric bike warranties are seldom used because of the quality of the product.. H-D warranty costs have spiraled to the point that their very survival must now depend on legitimate claim denial, ridiculous rules and no guarantee of the purchase of a reliable product.I really think it's too late for them to wake up .
Awesome vid. So if the parts are installed before 60 days it ties into the factory warranty and the parts are warrantied as well. But after 60 days it’s just the standard 1yr manufacturer warranty on the parts but the bikes warranty is unaffected. That’s a slick way of HD to push upgrades when purchasing a bike haha. Quick question though. I’ve heard of Vance & Hines parts (exhaust, air cleaner, fuelpak) not affecting the factory warranty. Can you confirm? Or are some dealers being extra nice (letting it slide) / shady (lying to you and voiding your warranty)?
I did the 5 year on my 16 Road Glide Special and right when I bought it I added New Bars, Boom2, and a few other thing and because it was all within that 60 days they all got added to the 5 year.... smart choice 😉
Any car or motorcycle manufacturer has to prove the part caused the failure. Just swapping mufflers and not touching the catalytic converter etc cannot cause any damage at all aside from the mufflers themselves going bad. I was going to just do stage 1 so I wouldnt have to deal with HDs BS on the issue and my dealer actually talked me out of it. Just ordered the pipes since I didnt really want or need an extra 5hp/10 ft lb torque
When did the channel turn into biker math for dummies. Carry the 1 and dived by torque and add in HP and now you wasted your day demonetized on youtube.
So I just have a question. I just bought my bike 9 months ago brand new off the show room floor brakes started squiling after 50 miles didn't have time to take it in due too me being a full time student and working full time. Then I had an issue not too long ago with my brake lights not working driving home from school at 11pm. Stopped by a gas station to put a new bulb in took it into the dealer and they had told me that there was a wire that had damage done and they just crimped it back and trying to charge me 109.00. They basically said cause I bought a bulb that wasn't harley Davidson? I'm just confused and would like some input on this adam.
I went stage one on my ‘19 RK. After the 2 yr warranty is up, I’ll get a cam , 2 into 1 V&H Pro pipe and FP tuner. If the tried and true M8 makes it 2 yrs, I’m good.
Great video!! Answered all my warranty questions. Dealership I dealt with were pushing after market exhaust and I didn’t really understand why if there was potential to disrupt my factory warranty.
There is a supreme court case, that made a ruling called the Magnusson moss warranty act. This is the end all to manufacturers for warranty issues. Understand "extended warranties" are different, and are actually service contracts that you agree to their terms. Many times they are not the dealers contract nor the manufacturers contract. It's typically (not always) a third party company. They are not under the same laws as the manufacturers new product warranty. The Magnusson Moss warranty act in summary states that warranties cannot be voided, but a part that fails must directly related to a aftermarket modification for the manufacturer to deny coverage.
Cody White unfortunately that act does not protect any engine that has been modified past the point of EPA standing. The government does not want unhealthy engines
john S EXACTLY. If your just doing stage 1 (pipes, air cleaner, fuelpak) most def keep the stock parts. God forbid your engine detonates. Easy swap back to stock. Then go get that free brand new motor.
@@Itsme-mx5tl that will Require a tuner ,,whatever tuner used will be registered by ECM regardless,, so unfortunately even if you change back you're fucked..
Still, I think the burden of proof of whether the motorcycle falls outside of the EPA regs, thus "voiding the warranty" would be on H-D, as they would be the ones attempting to void the warranty.
Stage 5 (which is really stage 4 + Tuner = Stage 5) voided my warranty ! The dealership blamed vance and hines quiet baffles for cooking my engine and told me because i got stage 5 i no longer have warranty.
Harley Breakout Guy, did you take it to another dealer? That sounds a little crazy. Guys can run 1 foot exhausts without issue. I have a feeling they didn't know or were to lazy to actually investigate and just blamed it on a part that is superior bit aftermarket.
Harley Breakout Guy .... if it was CVO BO they had a big problem w overheating more than a typical 110 motor does. My 14 engine cooked too. I found out on the HD forum that in 2014 HD had a disgruntled employee who was working on the CVO and put cutting compound in the tanks..yep...so it would screw up everything. When I called HD they wouldn't pay for anything..i paid out of my pocket...check out the story..you'll see..tc..ride safe
What if I purchase a stock 2017 (I did) with an extended warranty. It was a 2018 leftover with one season. The bike till had 17 months on factory warranty. I purchased extended. I'm covered until 2024? Anyway. Can I upgrade screaming eagle even if I'm second owner?
Excellent explanation but what happens if i got my 5 years warranty and i sell my bike in the third year? the remaining two years of warranty are transferred to the new owner?
Never buy new! Buy used, save money, why would one buy a new bike throw half away and buy more stuff? I get it that Harley is your sponsor however for the normal working man wet all can't afford to buy a new bike. And Harley won't service a bike over 10 years old. Still a good video though.
grayboo212 really maybe you'd like to try getting an EVO serviced at your local dealership. Harley has a policy you might want to check into it they do not maintenance anything over 10 years old
Evos are from the eighties/nineties. I think the last year for them was around 1998, so that's twenty years, not 10. Maybe it depends on what you're asking them to do to it. I ride an 05' Heritage and a guy I work with rides the same bike only a 97' with the evolution in it. He's never been turned away. Maybe certain dealerships have different polices. I wouldn't think so though.
Adam, what ever you have stuck between your cheek and gum, I wish you'd get rid of it. It makes you look like you have an abscessed tooth (or a blown out chipmunk) and you talk funny. Besides, I bet it's not good for your health.
I subscribed because in the beginning you did videos of getting out and doing good things and meeting veterans out on your journeys. But here lately it seems that your videos have become advertisements for your sponsors. I understand it takes money to do what you’re doing, but you’re getting off focus on why most of us started following you. More riding and less worries about warranties. Sorry brother but I had to say it.
Financing the add ons, what a joke. That’s why the warranty is set up the way it is, they want more cash. With the price of these bikes being what they are it should come with options. Do yourself a favor and buy one used and with the saved cash go on trips
I think it’s ironic how people make comments about “It’s not that hard to understand...”, but Adam has already had people make corrections to his explanation, people bring up the Magnusson Moss act, people haven’t thoroughly explained the EPA Consent Decree, and some people have stated it depends on your dealership or “dependent on your (relationship) with your dealership”. “Does my bike get flagged as non-compliant in the Harley database if I bring it in for a tire change and the tech sees aftermarket pipes on it?, etc...” It all seems so dang sketchy and no one ever seems to provide a crystal clear answer....so FRUSTRATING!
So how does it work if you bought used from A HARLEY DAVIDSON DEALSHIP? Cuz I bought a 2014 street glide and got the warranty, and I know the mufflers that are on there when purchased are not screaming eagle and the rear lower kit sure ain’t either?
Love Harleys.. reason folks don't buy Harley parts, cause they cost Triple the price!! Ridiculous! U can have the Warranty..... I'll take safety loud exhaust for a decent price to help save my life than pay triple for Harley exhaust cause their money hungry and care nothing for the Rider Family ! (Not talking about those who work for Harley mind u... I'm talking about those who think they bought a name they could Whore out) parts are Waaaaay over priced, but so are the bikes. I love Harley bikes , so I buy and put on other parts.✌
I just bought Jones Full Boar slip on’s, will a simple pair of slip on mufflers affect my warranty? I only care because I purchased the 5 yr extended warranty on my RGS...
I have a 2020 and the 2 yr warranty is about to expire.I bought the bike 6 months ago.If I was to do a screaming eagle cam and tuner but have a thrashin exhaust and let’s say something failed in the motor would harley not cover it ????
Does this extended warranty valid for Europe or only for USA? My Harley Davidson Dealer from Bulgaria sends me for some additional warranty to some German CG Car Garantie Company.
Dang-it Adam, you just explained my important questions concerning my new purchase of a 2018 RGS. And my choice of adding stage 2 exhaust and intake Screaming Eagle upgrade at the closing of my deal at Dealership. Always got fuzzy answers when I asked about warranty. You nailed it spot on. Hey you folks out there in U-Tube land, this is exactly why I subscribe to Adams vlog. Thanks Brother......
Ok Adam, I’ve watched all the videos and gave them all thumbs up and commented on every video Ashely is in , I absolutely respect and love what your doing and hope to ride along side u someday, but my question right now is am I now part of your “ tribe “?
Will changing the muffler really cause the engine to breakdown faster than the stock exhaust? Like if you slip on screamin eagle vs vanes and heines.. which brand wears down the harley engine faster?
After I got my Road King back from the stealership after the 1K mile break in service the original oil filter was left on and one bolt was missing from the primary cover. I said screw it and went nuts. Well I didn’t have any issues with my after market parts or my own install. Warranty is over and it still performs great! I have the service manual and proper tools and ability. I’ll take it from here H-D.
Read the Magnason-Moss act. They MUST prove without a doubt that the aftermarket parts caused the issue you are reporting...
I.e. your exhaust didn't cause your wheel to go out of round
Kevin Taddeo I was looking for this comment before I posted the same. Thank God I didn’t have to scroll too far. Well done, sir.
Only works if you have a lawyer. You say Mag-Moss, they say sue us...
Great video! Love the new patch as well👍🏻
Thanks for the info Adam👍
You look up performance upgrade s for your bike and S.E. is never in the mix. My conclusion is overpriced for sub par performance...
So why doesn't HD put these parts on to begin with... Oh yeah, like buying a rum and coke for $6... But without the rum. If yA want rum, it's another $5.... Good thing I drink at home, huh? 😂😂😂
whats next ? power point..
So would S&S’s new 2 into 1 with a cat void the warranty?
A Tho more then likely
Confusing subject.
Not what my dealer is saying. Bike still under warranty. If aftermarket pipes cause the problem, that repair isn’t covered. But everything else is still under warranty.
Does the extended warranty include labor and parts?
That's something you'd have to contact the manufacturer about
@@adamsandoval Will do thanks bud! Great vids by the way keep them coming. I love to learn about HD!
Thanks for tuning in! 👊
The warranty sucks!
truth
Matt Laidlaw
I’m ready let’s do it. Inbox me on FB
Two of my favorite motorcycle creators right here. You both bring something unique and current. I for one would love to see this.
Are you sure about that? I bought a new 2018 Electra Glide on Nov. 4th 2017 and bought the 5 year extended service plan and my contract says it expires on Nov.4th 2022.
Yea, so you bought the extra 3 years. Look at your contract and see which box is checked? It's the 5 year, not 7 year that will be checked.
Why is everyone so worried about the damn warranty? Just ride the damn bike!
Schnot, because its practically tradition that people customize the hell out of their Harleys. All this warranty red tape really puts a damper on that.
When you just spent 20-35k for a bike and you pump up the engine and it takes a shit because HD had a bad casted piston/part, do you want to pay out of pocket vs HD?
lol
Coz people are scared
Cause bad parts do make it thru inspection and become lemon vehicles. Would you rather get a brand new engine for free or have to spend $5k for a new engine?
This all just makes me want to buy used and modify my bike as I wish.
Adam.. in 1978 I bought a new 1977 Superglide the 78's hadn't hit the showroom floor yet...my Superglide came with an after-market 2 into 1 exhaust system from Alphabet..( covered under the warranty)I even had extended the warranty...I was in the service department every Friday for the first 5 weeks of ownership not because I was having problems, I was rolling over 500 miles a week and that was part of the deal... the owner of Hugo's HD thought I was having problems with my Glide...he was amazed I was able to work and rack up them miles...that's not a problem when.. (A) you ride everywhere and (B) you pick a destination for dinner 50 plus miles from home every night...oh to be young again...enjoy your videos...keep'em coming..
Screw the EPA!! To much government in my business and my wallet.
Harley’s Warranty SUCKS
Stupid how Harley puts their own customers in a bind.. just give me the 120r standard👍 what if you buy used?
Brilliantly said Brother! Any new info on what new bike Ms. Ashley is considering?
They MUST prove that ANY aftermarket part that you put on causes said problem. That is the law. So most of what you are saying doesn't add up.
Your Right same with dealers forcing you to have services/oil changes done by them ..the BAR made that Illegal about 30 years ago but Harley is still trying to pull this warranty fraud anyways....which is why their loosing so much sales to Indian and metric cruisers...Because they actually stand behind and warranty their products!
yeah and they still try to convince you to use the screamimg eagle tuner even tho it doesnt work with aftermarket anything
you just answered my question on replacing baffles
If epa hit harley so hatd..did they do it to crotch rockets? Do they say no no to performance part or after market parts?
Whats funny is those crazy rad high performance parts are actually just to make the bike sound like the motor company has led us to believe it should sound like. I love Harley but theyre acting like hypocrites
Adam is getting so serious about this he's white boarding.
4-n lol.
I’m glad you found the bike that’s right for you 👊
Best way to avoid the void is to never buy a H-D.
Nothing against Indian bikes, but Harleys look better.
So your saying next time around I should buy an indian ?
Harley 2 yr warranty ran out and went to dealership to extend and they offered a warranty from another 3rd party company what do you think about buying warranty from another company other then harley davidson , so, my local dealer offered a mechanics choice warranty on a 2019 street glide that I bought new 2 years ago your thoughts
I don’t know enough about that to provide an opinion 🤷♂️ wish I could be more helpful. a google search might be more helpful
If you buy used and opt for an extended service plan can you still custom/mod since it’s not a factory warranty anymore?
that's something you would want to check with the company about. I wouldn't think so
So, if you fit a Stage-IV kit 6 months after bike purchase and a Stage-IV part fails 13 months later and takes out the crank, does the 2-year warranty cover you for the crank?
that's something you'd have to talk to the manufacturer about, I'm not entirely sure
@@adamsandoval Thanks bud, appreciate the reply. :)
Perfect timing Adam. Hubbys picking up his new 115th Street Glide tomorrow!
Well fuck...I bought a used '19 883 from the dealer and it came with Bassani Firepower 3" slip-ons already installed. I also bought the extended warranty along with it, but did not know about this part of it until recently. Do you think that this would effect the warranty if something were to happen to the engine?
Im not entirely sure about the. You'd have to contact who handles the warranty
@@adamsandoval Thank you Adam, I will see who I can reach out to!
On my 2017 ultra I got the extra 3 years extended to my 2 year warranty !! Wish I had the extra cash to do the extras at purchased !!
Adam you have to wonder who is making the money on extended warranty .....
Someday I'll have a cool sled like yours, someday.....
No other bike sold in this country uses it's "warranty" to make ownership a cluster.Rather, metric bike warranties are seldom used because of the quality of the product.. H-D warranty costs have spiraled to the point that their very survival must now depend on legitimate claim denial, ridiculous rules and no guarantee of the purchase of a reliable product.I really think it's too late for them to wake up
.
210
Hahahahaha "harley davidson track motorcycle". Race applicated. ROTFL
New intro is kickass!
Given this is about warranty, have you heard or read about SB(service bulletin) m1450 and the SE stage 3 and 4 kits on the M8 engines?
Excellent video and warranty explanation Adam. Hopefully you’ve shut down all the negative comments.
Why don’t they just tune the bikes in the first place. (I know the answer)
Eff the warranty, I’ll take my V&H pipes any day.... H-D made enough money off of me already, so I might as well have the smile. 👍🏻
Sunbear805 if your running V&H and something goes wrong put the stock exhaust back on and bring it in
john S EXACTLY. If your just doing stage 1 (pipes, air cleaner, fuelpak) most def keep the stock parts. God forbid your engine detonates. Easy swap back to stock. Then go get that free brand new motor.
Just put all the stock parts back , and put the stock tune back in the MCM before you trailer it in for warranty LOL
@@Itsme-mx5tl that will Require a tuner ,,whatever tuner used will be registered by ECM regardless,, so unfortunately even if you change back you're fucked..
Still, I think the burden of proof of whether the motorcycle falls outside of the EPA regs, thus "voiding the warranty" would be on H-D, as they would be the ones attempting to void the warranty.
apb-law.com/understanding-magnuson-moss-act-relates-aftermarket-car-parts/ And here's a law firm confirming my position.
Thank for the video Adam.
I have a feeling they didn't know or were to lazy to actually investigate and just blamed it on a part that is superior bit aftermarket.
probably that exhaust is what voided your warranty.
i went to consumer affair fair trading, they also said if i install after market exhaust then they cant assist me.
yup, I hope this video helps some people understand it before the upgrade
It'd be worth asking your local dealer
Where is the ride video?!
Excellent explanation but what happens if i got my 5 years warranty and i sell my bike in the third year? the remaining two years of warranty are transferred to the new owner?
yes
Where was you at Paris harley-davidson
Never buy new! Buy used, save money, why would one buy a new bike throw half away and buy more stuff? I get it that Harley is your sponsor however for the normal working man wet all can't afford to buy a new bike. And Harley won't service a bike over 10 years old. Still a good video though.
Not sure where you got the "Harley won't service a bike over 10 years old". That's absolutely incorrect. Actually, it doesn't even make any sense.
grayboo212 really maybe you'd like to try getting an EVO serviced at your local dealership.
Ant Squirly sorry. Nothing in there, just my ugly face.
Ant Squirly Wow! Are you always this rude?
Old ppl are difficult
I subscribed because in the beginning you did videos of getting out and doing good things and meeting veterans out on your journeys. But here lately it seems that your videos have become advertisements for your sponsors. I understand it takes money to do what you’re doing, but you’re getting off focus on why most of us started following you.
More riding and less worries about warranties.
Sorry brother but I had to say it.
Well done, great explanation
What If I add speakers on my saddle bags, would that void my warranty?
Speakers will not effect drive train warranty
Financing the add ons, what a joke. That’s why the warranty is set up the way it is, they want more cash. With the price of these bikes being what they are it should come with options. Do yourself a favor and buy one used and with the saved cash go on trips
I would greatly appreciate a response thank you
do you sleep in your shades too? lol
Nice explanation! Keep up the good work!
FYCK epa, it's mine!
Nice Job! Until Next Time...
That’s something you’d have to defer to your warranty to figure out. I’d hate to pass on false information. Good luck brother 👊🏼
@@adamsandoval thanks for getting back to me I appreciate it
Harley track bike bagger
Ya ya. That’s the tickets
Buy older bikes fix them yourself or get a independent to do it
Save big time
Does this extended warranty valid for Europe or only for USA?
Hd is very fair on warranty issues imo. Problem is many ppl are unethical and try to take advantage of hd.
Thanks for the breakdown
Will changing the muffler really cause the engine to breakdown faster than the stock exhaust? Like if you slip on screamin eagle vs vanes and heines.. which brand wears down the harley engine faster?
Thank you Adam..so, what if you plainly remove baffles from exhaust? Warrenty? Still covered? Thx ahead of time.
Is any other brand warranty friendly? Like SS?
I'm not entirely sure about that, youd be better of contacting the manufacturer. Sorry I couldn't be more help 😎
just put what you want on it (no tuner) if bike keeps blowing up (third time) lemon it and go get another brand bike. ;)
Can you upgrade cams straight off the showroom or do you have to wait till after break in period?
