yet again another top notch video... been GasSafe for years now and only getting into indepth boiler fault finding for the last year or so and your videos are by far the best I've come across.. quality explained, many thanks.. cant wait for more of your vids..
Thank you for watching. :-) Got some more coming but need to get filming again ASAP.
Your videos a top notch mate with accurate information and logical approach towards fault finding with reasoning and gut
Great👍👍👍👍
Thanks. :-)
Logical & methodical, great video.
Until I came across this channel about a week ago I couldn't watch more than a couple of minutes of boiler repair videos.
Watched quite a few of yours now & they're all top notch, good information for engineers.
Looking forward to many more
Thanks. Im getting a lot of stick from people at the moment about putting this stuff up. :-)
@@HeatingGeek In what way?
Do people think you shouldn't share information?
@@colinjackson320 Exactly. Should keep it all secret. They wrap it up in safety nonsense though.
HeatingGeek bollocks to anyone giving you grief for making these videos, I’ve been an engineer for 17yrs and I learn something new every time, keep em coming, you want an apprentice lol
@@alanmurphy3584 I have a few more coming. :-)
“Get Over it” love it, thanks for post look forward to second vid👍👍👍👍👍
Had to be done!!! I was the last resort and the customer wanted it fixed. :-)
Really good logical faulty finding in real life situations. Brill Video. Keep them coming thanks Alex
Thanks for watching. :-) I will keep them coming.
I know it was years ago but your a man after my own t doing things
logically and clearly explaining
No problem :-) It was years ago too :-)
Another great one Ollie & a Top End one too on a SE boiler, even better. I loved the ‘running repair’, you know it made me laugh & I did get over it😂😂😂
Good wee insight into the Ignition Board & it’s functionality. I also loved your demonstration opening of the Combustion Chamber & noting the effect. Looking forward to the next one👍👍
Glad you understand it had to be done :-). Intermittent faults require different techniques to find. Like the Vokera gas valve video.
just received my injector cleaner nice little job...great vid by the way
You won't use it until you do.... Don't lose it in the mean time!!!
I’ve been an engineer for 14 years and I cannot tell you how helpful your videos are. Thanks
Thanks for watching them. :-)
Just the man Graham why does my central heating green light occasionally flash red every 10mins or so and when the boiler kicks in it flashes red a couple of times then goes to green again. It is a Worcester 18i junior..
Your help in this matter would be most welcome..Regards Sandy..
I got this boiler in my flat. Twin flue. I know it like the back of my hand now. Easy repairs
They are if you have access. Only common issue is usually poor installation. Hard to combat that with the low price though.
As usual, excellent!
Cracking video Ollie !
Thanks. :-)
First of all like to say a big thankyou for being so patient and making such a useful video for a new comer gas safe engineer like me.... specially your explanation of multitool voltage difference and linking up the flue stat.
Want to ask that as u link the flue stat on pcb .....can we do that on other end
Great vid really interesting. And frustrating.
It can be confusing when they use 240 on a neutral coloured wire, I "usually" treat everything as live until I have tested it, although I have had a few belts!!! I bet you've had a few too. Fab fix on the APS spade connector. Thanks for sharing great info.
Has a few. Its not the best way to test stuff but sometimes its the only way to fix it.
We need a batman style voice over to heighten the anticipation for part two! Lol. Excellent video and received my cleaning pin thanks and needed it yesterday for a fire can't find it typical! It will appear when I'm looking for a drill bit or something
Put it in the ashtray!!!!
Re-watching all your videos again to soak up some knowledge.. any update on future videos? Hope you had a great crimbo and new year oli
Great video mate 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed
Really good video.
Brilliant video! Not something I am going to tackle myself as I'm not trained, so will look to get a heating engineer in, but was wondering how much a job like this would cost?
Great vid mate 👍
Thanks. Thanks for watching it. :-)
Thanks again great video
Thank you.
Haha just spent 5 mins looking for part 2🤯
Sorry :-( Coming soon. ASAP
That's some serious faultfinding there, my bet is with that PCB . Excellent video again.
Thanks. I will get part 2 done asap. :-)
@@HeatingGeek excellent video ive had issues with my biasi riva compact my pcb was found at fault (there is only 1 in mine) i need to do the 3 settings now it installed do you any advice on how to do this i cant find it anywhere
@@Superklogz Its in the book that comes with the PCB or call technical and do it with them over the phone.
@@HeatingGeek it was a reconditioned board so i got no instructions with it. I have tried to phone them today but their phone lines were down. So im fairly stuck
Great job
Thanks! :-)
Great video. I have worked for Biasi for the last 24 years so get to know all the faults. I've been shouting the answer at my iPad for the last 10min. LoL. It's not the stat and please put some water in you will have the flow switch dropping out. I won't spoil it for every one.
Its always the same.
Oh you little tease Frank!! Ollie like his ‘Cliff Hanger’ videos too & keeps a captive audience. Rightly so, he knows his onions, on a multitude of manufacturers & their appliances. What’s the latest HE Biasi’s like Frank, any recurring problems we should know about? I’ve always thought that Biasi was a good wee boiler & fitted quite a few over the years👍
Yes good boiler now with 7 years guarantee or 8 if you are a registered installer with Biasi.
Tough boilers these.
Frank Bennett had one of these in my house , fantastic boiler never went wrong but had to update to a condensing ,went with vaillant , 2 repairs in 3 years already , honestly they just don’t make’em like they use to, I’ll need to look in to biasi again
The common on the aps isn't always the source of voltage, some boards output a constant live from NO and NC with the voltage then running down the common. With that type of switch both NO and NC are always live.
But how would the boiler know which has switched if both are live?
Genuine question, not being arsey. :-)
Hi, low water pressure, got it up to 1.5, now middle light stable red, others two flashing green together. No hot water, no warm rsdiators. What can i do? Tonight it will be - 8C
Hi I got biasi compact riva with the dhw dial temp to min still getting very hot water at the tap especially when central heating is on what you think plate heat exchanger blocked
No, probably a gas issue. Better get it checked.
nice videos, thanks.
Glad you like them! Are you an engineer?
@@HeatingGeek Yes ,i am. study everyday.thanks and stay safe.
Good video. When you return, can you film the underside of the ignition board to see if there are any dry joints / scorching. Thanks
I Have?????
Thanks. Watched the second instalment after I commented. Good job, clear to see the joints dried out.
@@gregmartin352No problem. Thanks for watching. :-)
Excellent video can't wait to find out if it was the pcb,i believe biasi has stop making these boilers, they were landlords favourite boiler's good price and five years warranty i wonder why biasi discontinued this model?looking forward to part two tanx HG.
I bet u had ur weetabix that morning u don't now ur own strength😃
@@ek6868 S@#t happens. Had to do it live.... BG would sack someone for that.
Who’s not done that with a Spade Connector, the insulation becomes very brittle on old appliances.
For future reference the flue stat is a manual reset and in my experience it ignition PCB especially with the intermittent ones
Ahh I did put my hand up there but didn't feel it!!! Thanks for letting me know. :-)
It seems I'm having the exact same issue with my Biasi boiler. The burners don't re-ignite, especially if I turn a hot tap on in the kitchen or bathroom.
Even just maintain the burn to keep the CH on. VERY frustrating.
Did you manage to sort this out? As I have the same problem.
Oh please someone help, I'm about to give up on my biasi, my one just locks the fire out after 5 seconds everytime, no error code, just the red light next to the reset button... I replaced fire sensor, ignition board, checked venturi device, all working fine, overheat thermostat fine, 2 ntc probes all good... can it be the gas valve? Does it have some pressure sensor or something thats gone? Or is it the main board? Im getting to the conclusion that its either board or the valve, there is literally nothing else here that could cause it....
Hi, Whereabout's are you based? I have an intermittent problem with the same boiler..I've had 3 visits from 2 separate plumbers but it still comes back..
Unfortunately intermittent issues are common. Wait is the best advice I can give you. It will get worse.
You need to call a heating engineer not a plumber and you may get it resolved 🤣….. sorry I had to.
Follow a few heating engineers on RUclips and like the videos and holistic approach you post
Your certainly the wheat amongst chaff
(Holistic thinking is the inquiry of a complex whole. In the case of business organizations, holistic thinking takes into account its purpose, values, function in its environment, process, and structure. It is the basis for the development of the business design construct , systems thinking , and strategy formation .)
Im confused now!!! Thanks for watching though :-)
👍
Does the black dot only mean red light i have flashing red light in middle and stable green light on right but the manual doesn't correrspond to that
go to 32 seconds and it shows you the lights.
Black is on. Not flashing. Just on
Thanks again fantastic video good man
Thank you for watching. :-)
How about if it is not the PCB????? can return it for the refund or it is your loss????
Maybe I was sure before I even opened it up. :-)
have similar problem only that it's just had a new pcb board installed. it's not running.
Then get them to diagnose it properly. It can take time
Nothing like safe isolation
But then you need to work live...:-) Weird.
Where did you learn about the electronics and diagnostics testing for combis
Through doing it. When ever I took parts off the boiler I would look to see if I could find out where it failed. :-)
@@HeatingGeek That's called Auto didactic; the best way to learn.
@@Hitngan I didn't know there was a word for it. :-) It is the best way to learn because you have to explain it in words you understand. :-)
@@Hitngan I'm trying to learn about Arduino and programming at the moment. I have tried to learn to program twice before.... Hopefully this time I can get into it. :-)
@@HeatingGeekThe lockdown is a great opportunity for learning. Everyday is a school day for me. I'm using the time to do my CEng.
Good one again ollie, you mind your fingers!! I didn't realise how similar they are to the ideal minis
Same boiler same PCB different Brand name on it. Except Biasi have continued to evolve the mini (24s) into this.
faulty pressure switch.those old type always drop out. or pcb. id just order both up
or neither. :-)
I’ve got a really stupid qs but I need help 🙈 To turn on the radiator I set it to auto. But then there’s no button to switch it off so I just switch the entire boiler off. Anyone know which button switches it off? Thank you
It's one of the worst timers ever made. I cant remember how to turn it off.I hope you get it sorted. Reply if you find out please;-)
That looks like the same PCB that's on the Ideal mini. The bigger one.
It is the same boiler (bit newer this one)
How much for the diagnosis and repair?
Insurance, so a great deal for the home owner. Probably £25 a month
Loads of these on my patch there so much fun? Keeps me busy.
Mr heating geek are you self-employed or on the books?
Self employed.
wiggle test ... brill
You know it works though!!!!
Hi , I have Sam problem with my boiler what can I do ??
Sorry I didn’t respond to this comment. I didn’t see it in my feed. :-(
Great videos Ollie ! The black and red wires tell the main PCB when the ignition PCB is in a Lockout state. I manufacture a replacement ign PCB for this boiler get my number of Jason I'll send you some parts for your vids (Baxi Sol) :))
Sol!!! How you doing. I will get your number from Jason. Didn't you have something going with BG and diverter valves? ;-)
How much cost for fix??
Depends what's wrong.
Yo my one is not working my one just dosent work
So how do you fix this
Watch the second video
HeatingGeek can you come mine and fix for me buddy
@@khingondating Where are you?
HeatingGeek bham
@@khingondating Just get yourself a local guy. They will be able to sort it for you.
I love your perseverance even when it is a piece of crap Biasi boiler...........Most people would have ripped it out and replaced with a half decent A rated boiler!
I like Biasi. I didn't use to, but they have grown on me a lot.
Tough easy to work boilers.
I like them think they last really well a lot longer than some well advertised brands. Fitted mine 16 years ago and still going strong. Never installed one for a customer! At the end of the day it has a lot to do with water quality of the system it's been installed in.
I know its a year old but I could see the issue immediately,it had no pressure!!!!
:-) Or not . :-) The pressure is the least of the problems.
Get over it! 😂
I'm waiting for the trolls. :-)
As you went to take it off, I could just see it happening lol great vid once again
@@TheIcebon it was already a bit broken. I only saw when I was editing. :-)
I smell shite
Stop talking then :-/
I know its a year old but I could see the issue immediately,it had no pressure!!!!
Yeah, if only that was the problem. :-)
