Gohan actually achieved the real the Ascended Super Saiyan or what would be called Super Saiyan 2. This is the Super Saiyan level that Goku and Vegita was talking about and trying to ascend to. No bulkiness, nothing. Just pure super power made fighting.
2nd most epic scene after Goku's transformation against Frieza.
I don't know about anybody else, but I love how this episode lingers on the Super Saiyan aura sound for a few seconds, even after the narrator finishes his summary and the music stops.
On another note, I wonder if Alexis still thinks the Cell Junior's are cute after watching them pound the Z fighters' asses into the dirt lol.

Its always insane watching people see the end of the episode.
The feeling you get when 16 head is crushed especially when you realize he's not even like a humanoid androind like 17 or 18 so he cant be wished back to life.
That was thr final straw for gohan cause he realizes that if an android could love life so much and was designed to destroy goku but it made its own choice to protect it then gohan should do the same.
It was the necessary push to break gohans limit to reach the true ascended super saiyan form and let his emotions over flow.
In short terms. Gohan crashed out. 😅😅

“Gohan’s BEASTLY power as been harnessed” keep that in the back of your mind 😂 I’m not a dragon Ball fan. I didn’t really watch a lot of the series, but this is easily my favorite fight. Also, why not to send SS2 Gohan back to Trunk’s timeline to “fight” the androids? I quoted fight because it wouldn’t be a fight at that point. 😂😂😂
all simply because at this point in the series, Trunck is infinitely stronger than the cyborgs of the future, no need for gohan.
Because if u see. Trunks would eventually kill those Androids after going back to his timeline and kill them like nothing. Also why trunks needs Gohan. When he far surpassed evem semi cell alone. Imperfect cell was alone solo Androids. Trunks beat semi perfect cell. So why need help of ssj2 gohan. Also trunks beat his timeline's Android like nothing when he went.
@MeunierPoulet when I say I’m not a fan of the show, it means I rather watch other anime than Dragon Ball but I still like it enough that I still know things about it. Duh lol. I’m aware trunk is powerful enough at this point to take on the androids. I was just joking around saying how much of a stop. It would be if present Gohan went back in time. That’s all.
Gohan was asleep and has finally awoken. He had ascended to the next level beyond that of a super Saiyan and he now he reached and is the first Hybrid Saiyan to reach Super Saiyan 2! 😮

As sad it was to see Cell crush Android 16's head in front of Gohan, it was the final push he needed to awaken his true power. Even Goku knew back in the time chamber, that Gohan possessed that power, but since Gohan is such a gentle soul. The only way to unlock his strength and hidden powers is by making him mad. It also plays true in the Super Heroes Dragon ball Super movie.
I will never forget my first time as a little kid seeing gohan go ssj2. When people fjrst watched dbz gohan was a fan favorite, they hyped up his explosive anger since they first introduced him. The feeling of him going ssj2 and just walking all over cell was one of the greatest feelings an anime has ever made me feel. As the audience we just went through so much from the saiyan saga, to the frieza saga, it was such a long exhausting thing when i watched as a kid, and then the android /cell saga, the z fighters couldnt catch a break. So seeing gohan become the strongest snd whoop on cell eith ease, pure satisfaction. Its crazy this all happened because the zfighters all died, and gohan krillin and bulma had to cross the galaxy to bring them back. It caused so much to end up happening

Sad fact, Android 16 never got brought back to life because he was 100% android. I was build modelled after Dr Gero's son but is his own individual personality. Because of this he wasn't a real living being so he can't be brought back to life even if they wanted to. And even if they found a way he wouldn't be the same because him developing his personality was a malfunction. RIP to one of the best written misunderstood characters.

Your girl looked like she was ready to cry through that whole episode, watching the Z Fighters get beat down one by one, and seeing Gohans emotion, then 16s official death. This was a tough episode for all of us to watch till the end when Gohan finally broke thru.
When that last tear left that was the last shred of humanity leaving his body.

Gohan turning ssj2 for the first was so dope. The original version, where the Day Of Fate music was played during his transformation is still much better than this one though. Nonetheless, this transformation had so much meaning behind it. It's one of my favorites.

The song is for this scene and is part of Gohans youth dying and breaking into his anger. Thats as well the reason for the bird that gets shot, the bird is the symbol for innocence, that has to die so that Gohan can evolve.
And that is the text of the song.
But then you have to listen to the awful Japanese dub.

This was a legendary episode!
The biggest moment throughout all of this Hurcle summoning up the courage to throw himself into Danger.
And then, even when Gohan awoke in his new powers, you can still see the tears still running down his face.
Because Cell is forcing him to do something he doesn't want to do, Gohan has no remorse. At this point, he has no feelings.
And he's going to stop at nothing and destroying Cell, and he warned him not to push him.
This is why Gohan is crying, but then you see the tear slowly disappear.
That scream was epic

Yamacha gets a lot of flack, being weak. However, he manages to survive being attacked by Cell Jr.
Which inherited has perfect cell strength.
And I said this once and I'll say it again Android 16 felt compelled to help Gohan because they share a lot of qualities.
Both of them possessed gentle souls and Android 16 sense that within him, he also observed Gohan's personality.
He did not hesitate jumping in to try to take down Cell himself when he saw Gohan being abused.
They share a bond👍

Everyone always talks about ssj 2 Gohan but my take from this episode is how Piccolo is the only one that keeps up with the cell jr, not sure what his power level was vs the other saiyans here but must be close

Like his father, Gohan had to witness someone close to him die in order to unleash his full power. He's a basic Super Saiyan in the cell saga, Once he watches Android 16 die he unleashes his true power. It awakes Super saiyan II. All the abilities of Super Saiyan are now amped 10 fold. Untill Gohan transformed, no one ever saw it or dealt with it.
*Budokai 3 is my favorite DBZ fighting game of all-time and I've played them ALL*

Fun facts cell uses 17 and 18s reproduction organs to make the little cells and also Killen is the only one holding his own agenst 2 of them before he get distracted
