    Ghost Division was shot at the Woodstock Festival Poland infront of over 600 000 people. Some say that during som part of the concert there was almost 800 000 attendees. Sabaton is massively popular in Poland as they have several songs of Polish heroes or events during history.

    •  Год назад +5

      @@peterkensborn8035 Yeah - That's right. Sabaton says this about the song:
      "In "Ghost Division" we wrote about the armored division under the command of Erwin Rommel. The guy was not an avid Nazi, he just followed orders, and at the same time he was a great commander who could show a lot of respect to the opponent and his soldiers. I think he managed to remain human after all. Even if he fought on the "wrong side."

    • @henrikg1388
      @henrikg1388 Год назад +1

      @ The Western allies fought on the "wrong side" too if you put it like that, because that's more than you can say about any Soviet general, whether he was in on the Stauffenberg coup or not. It is certainly not uncommon for Poles to dislike Russia as much, or more, for WWII.
      They both invaded Poland at about the same time, but Stalin killed about three times as much people in direct purges. If you are Jewish, it is another thing, and I understand and respect that. I am neither German, "Soviet" or jewish. I just look at the totality, and claiming a moral high ground for Stalin is nearly impossible, even compared to such an evil man as Hitler.

Great band with an awesome stage show. Their MVs are mini movies, Christmas Truce, No Bullets Fly, Bismarck, etc. Woodstock is an annual festival held in Poland, here 700,000 fans rocked out to a great band. Sabaton we love today is rather like Ghost Division (2008) and less like Rice of Evil (2006) in my opinion very dark and heavy. I love this Swedish band because they're modern bards who sing about war battles and soldiers from all over the world not taking side. The band started in 1999 and become successful from 2005. They have great songs, music videos, story videos, lyric videos, great concerts (plenty of them), the history channel and many more...
    Thank you for your reaction! Ghost Division song is one of many during the three day free festival in Poland (2012). I love this concert!!! :-) This August I was at the concert in Cracow - amazing memories!

    The difference between the "Rise of Evil" video and "Ghost Division" is that RoE was a vintage performance from that era, and GD was a more recent performance and they've had a much longer time to hone their skills and stage performance. And the band had become much more famous by that Woodstock performance as well. The band has undergone several major line-up changes over the years. With most of the instrument players (except the bassist) leaving in 2012 to form the band Civil War with the vocalist from Astral Doors. And that band did a Trilogy of albums based on the 3 Civil War books "The Killer Angels" which the film Gettysburg was based on, "Gods & Generals" the second film, and then "The Last Full Measure" the never filmed 3rd film. They just released a 4th album last year that is still military and Civil War themed, but not a part of the Trilogy. But looking through the track lists of all 4 albums, the song titles are all over the place in terms of what period of history they cover. Check some videos from Civil War. They're pretty cool as well. You'll have to do a search for "Civil War band" to find them.

    the songs you covered here aren't even scratching the surface of what all they covered. Yeah, loads of people here have already pointed out that they're a Swedish metal band with a focus on military history, but they're also a *warmetal* band that have been awarded the Swedish "Enlightener of the Year 2022" for coming up with a new way for anyone listening to them to look further into a person/event that most of their songs have covered, and they're showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. You'll probably want to take a few weeks to go through their library.
    They're basically bards of the modern age.

    my brother introduced me to Sabaton a few years back and at first i was hesitant due to him liking screamo music like death metal and the like which i really don't. so i wasn't to keen or expecting anything out of the ordinary of him when he recommended it to me. but after a little bit of coaxing telling me that he was recommending it because he knew i was very knowledgeable and interested in WW1/2 and the song he was recommending me was the song Night Witches. i had never heard of them before so i listened to the song and found up it was just basic rock, which i like. but i also liked how it was basically a heavy metal history lesson that was actually enjoyable. after looking up who the Night Witches were, i learned that they were a Russian an all female night bombing regiment called "Night Bombing Regiment 588". they made the Germans shit themselves with how much damage they caused them despite using obsolete WW1 planes and only numbering 40 at their largest. they were so feared in fact that if you could prove you downed a Night Witch you automatically got an Iron Cross, which normally took about 25 confirmed kills to get. so think about that downing a plane was normally 1 kill, downing a heavy bomber was considered up to 3 at once, while 1 Night Witch, despite using obsolete equipment and horribly outnumbered, was automatically worth the 25 you needed to get the Iron Cross. thats how scared the Germans were of them when they made an attack.

    Wow, it's been a minute since I've heard "Rise of Evil." That off their 2nd album "Attero Dominatus." Their signature sound wasn't really solidified until their 4th album.

    @Cheezy their song Christmas Truce is one of the most moving songs I have ever heard, of any genre. Watch the official video, even the credits .The voice over the credits is married to Sabaton's drummer). I have not yet made it through with a dry eye.

    Perhaps now is good time to check out Nightwish, Finnish🇫🇮 Symphonic Metal Band. Ewry single song from Wacken-13 Party is pure Gold. Most reactors start with 'Ghost Love Score', no matter what song you pick up

    They could very well have been finish but no, Swedish. And you should listen to en Krigstid i bön and livgardet in Swedish (with subtitles).

    Oh, that's the aftershow band for the upcoming Babymetal tour. Kinda slow, but nice to flatten the energy after Babymetal.
