I have type 4c hair and with my locs(coils) water helps it tangle up so I sprits with water before bed and when I wake up and throughout the day. I care for them like little plants watering them everyday
Bro finally someone answered my questions i got my starter locs about 4 weeks now and i was wondering if i sprits water in my hair will it bud it faster without detangling my hair too much 😊
Thank you for sharing. I'm glad I came across your channel. I started mine last night. Just watching answered a lot of questions. Her hair is so pretty.
I just LOVE her hair! I think I'd go without retwisting for months and months if I has her fullness and texture. Just gorgeous. Great job as always Queen ❤️
That's exactly what I do, just leave them to semi-freeform, the thickness and growth is insane. I took them out and restarted them and it was then I saw the thickness and lovely texture where my hair was so nourished and flourished from just being left alone.
I love your videos. Definitely is what has helped me with my journey. I'm about 3 and a half months in the process is crazy, I'm definitely budding but after my retwist my locks kinda of end up a bit flat. Not sure what to do about that. I use the gel and wax, I know you don't recommend that, it's just that's the only stuff that helps keep the retwist in place. I'm hoping in the near future to just use oil and water for my retwist. But yeah I really like them. Not that many of my family and friends like them and they keep asking me when I'm going to take them out, but I mean it's whatever. I like them and that's all that matters. I can't wait for mines to mature completely. Thank you for all your helpful videos, keep em coming ✌🏾🤗
Terion Rosado use a silk scarf on your hair .. tie your hair up with scarf each night and when u aren’t goin anywhere to help with forming so it doesn’t get flat
Loved the video, very informative! Her hair is a lot like mine. My hair is very fine and curly, I’ve often wondered if it is too thin to loc but watching this video and your previous one on her first retwist gives me hope. I’d like to loc but I don’t where to find a stylist as we live on the far south coast of New South Wales, Australia.
When I first started my journey I would wash often with just water (because it was summer 😩) then I went to once a month with shampoo. Now that I workout everyday I wash every two weeks. When summer comes I’ll see what my hair needs. I let my hair and scalp lead the way lol.
I started my locs journey last October. The last retwist was the worse! The stylist was really rough with separating the locs and the twist was tight. I have bumps in different areas of my head. Seriously looking for another stylist once the country gets over the COVID-19 crisis. I probably need to learn to do my own hair. Thanks for sharing.
I love your videos. I just got my first retwist after one month. I was excited until my loctixian was finished. She lefted my ends puffy stating that they were locking and she didn't want to comb them out. Is this a thing?
Hi, I enjoyed this video, very informative, my hair has two different textures, I think I am a 4c mostly, but like maybe a 4b or 4a in the back, at the bottom, so I'll just take your advice and see how my hair holds up. I just start my journey about a month ago. It is very frustrating when my locks look neat for maybe two to three days cause my head sweats a lot. I just hate.
Absolutely gorgeous!! That is all I use for my clients too!! So much better and they hold just as long and look so much better without the gel. Great job!! Kudos to you!!
New Subbie 🥰 starting my locs tonight! Nervous to try the coil method. I may cop out and do two stand twist, but you have me motivated to try coils!!! Stay Blessed!!
I started my Locs on March 13th with the comb coil method and I did my first retwist last Sunday since my stylist is in another state. I will definitely change the placement of the clips after watching this video because I was originally putting it on the roots thinking it would train my hair. I’m going to be honest and say that I was super nervous to wash my locs but after watching your videos I felt more confident about washing my hair.
This gives me the confidence to continue retwisting my own locs. It's strange I was shunned from washing mt starter locs for so long and it was frustrating!
Femininja you can do it girl!!! The hardest part for me was the clip placement but you can do it! I’m 3 years in and no one else has touched my hair since the first 4 months Of my journey
I have DIY microlocs and also got told to not wash my hair by a lot of people. I didnt listen because I know my hair, what worked for someone else's hair isn't going to always translate well for mines. I spoke with a loctition and she said water actually helps the locking process and I'm pretty sure DXLYN has said the same thing in a diff loc video. Keep doing what's best for you, I've found that alot of loctitions are intimidated by their customer washing their hair too "early" because it makes more work for them in the long run. If they tell folks to absolutely not wash until just before they come in or that week, it minimizes how much work they end up doing.
Hello, is it possible to use clips on youre coils WHILE you wash your hair to keep yoir hair from unraveling? To Maybe just concentrate on shampooing the scalp.
It you use a comb with tiny teeth idk the name 🤦🏿♀️ you can get short short. If you cant use the comb to make coils try two strand twist. Small sections if possible
Hey love ur videos. U really helped me alot. I just recently redid my instant locs and put new extensions in. I wanna know what's the best product to use to retwist my hair with iut it being to sticky or too much
Hi hun quick question my hair hasn't been three months yet but i will be 3 months in July 23 and my hair is starting to bud . My question is can you still do a hairstyle even though your hair is budding ?
Please recommend some of the oils you use for retwists. Also, i just started my locs and i did a mistake and didn't retwist until after 2months,now i have a bulge, what should i do to make it all even out?
Her hair looks like mine's right now lol I need it done the right way Its been a year now😁 finally got over that first hump Please do mine's 🙏🏾 Great job Luv.
It is normal/ okay to use the looping method (where you loop the dread through the root to tight it) in order to tighten regular dreads? I’ve only seen it done on sister dread and idk why
DXLYN locs awesome! Thanks. 3 of my brothers have dreads. Having no experience other than watching you I started one of my brothers dreads a couple months ago using the instant locking method with a small crochet hook and I just used the looping method to tighten them because I don’t see him that often and he’s tender headed so he doesn’t like getting his hair done. He’s boujie but lazy and likes to keep his hair looking good. It seems to be holding up pretty well. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong
Good afternoon Dxlyn I am interested in locking my hair for the first time, I've been perming my hair for decades and now I'm sick of it I haven't put a perm in my hair since February 29th and the perm is wearing out do I have to cut my hair before I start my lock journey or can I just start without cutting it please help I need some advise and encouragement.
Chop your perm ends off. You could possibly try twisting roots then perm rod set or flexi rods depending on your length. That would help hide the different textures!
Any length long enough to braid. But they should be a mature before plaiting. It’s compressing and can cause them to end up smaller than you want them to be.
I absolutely love your channel. It has inspired me to start my son's locs. I think I may have made the parts too big and I'm considering combing them out unless you can recommend a video where you speak about lumpy locs...
Thank you!! If it’s early on you can fix the lumps with palm rolling or reshaping them with a crochet tool. I don’t think I have a video on how to do exactly that
@@DXlocs ok thank you for your response. I'll try and get them the shape I'd like them to be. I may consider bringing him to a salon. Not sure yet but I'll definitely watch back through a few of your son's and husband's earlier in their journey 😊

The video came right on time! I’m doing my 2nd twist next week. So glad I can fix my parts in the front.
How long did you go before you got your 2nd retwist?

Thats the budding. Its a part of the process

Don’t Palm rolling make the locs thin ?
