Ended up getting fit for clubs last week thinking I wanted the 790's, but after hitting these I instantly fell in love. I hit them much better than the 790 for some reason. It is the first club fitting I have ever had and I was playing my grandfather's clubs previously as I just got into golf 4 months ago. I am a 12 handicapper and was previously playing the Ping i3 irons. A tremendous difference in the technology as well as feel, very excited to get them in. Great iron and worth trying out for sure!

Hoping to break 80 soon, thanks for the comment though I appreciate a good joke.

Heyy Wesley sounds soo much like me… I have been playing golf for about 10months now, and currently a 12.1 handicap… I am currently gaming the Taylormade Speedblades, and was thinking that the P790’s would be the best fit, but I went on to test both the P790’s and the P770’S yesterday, and cannot believe how much more I loved them over the 790’s. From the profile, feel and distances… just not sure if I’ll be able to game the long irons as well, but the fitting will tell the tale 🙏🏽

The P770's are absolutely gorgeous irons! I fully expect these to be the iron to have this year for a lot of people and not to mention how well they blend with P790's! These and P790's would make a killer combo set!

  • @JAG1651
    @JAG1651 4 года назад

Totally agree with your summary ear the end there....I'm not a high ball golfer, maybe partly because I play most of my golf on Scottish Links courses, and the swing has lent towards a bit of a shaft lean, and delofting to cope with the wind challenges......But after hitting the P770 today up against the P7.MC, according to the numbers the P770 were giving me a higher ball flight than the MC's, 4.5mph more ball speed than the MC's (118 v 122.5) with a 7 iron, 15ft higher peak height, 8 yard more carry with the P770 over the MC's, yet there's still some good feedback from the P770's, and I still think the better player could easily gravitate towards the P770's as well as the Mid handicapper or anyone who wants to retain some ball speed whilst looking for a good high launch window....I prefer the feel off the clubface of the MC's...But that's a whole different discussion.....For many a combo set of the P770 with MC's or MB's will work well, But for me, I think the performance differences between the P770 and MC's were too much, and therefore a straight P770 set would maybe be better suited to me personally......

I bought P790 this year in April..10 Handicap going into year. Took me a few weeks to really dial them in on the course but they are the same lofts as my previous set the RSI 1 and i'm flying 20 yards further on almost every iron...went from hitting a PW max 120 max to now PW 140 and the feel is incredible having a forged club. I never knew when I flushed one on my old set and now I know immediately if I hit center, heel, or toe. I'm now an 8 Handicap...the ability to hit 7-PW more often than old set hitting 5-7 on same courses is really paying off. They occasionally do have some fliers but you get used to the lie in rough to know a flier lie then club down one. Love my P-790's now debating on new driver...from M2 should I go Marvik or Sim? Marvik performed better in March but haven't tested them since then

It's really not. TaylorMade released the P730, P750, P770, and P790 range in 2017. This is a return to that original lineup that got shaken up when the P760 was released to encompass both the P750 and P770. The P7MB here is a P730 replacement and the P7MC is a P750 replacement. The P770 is a replacement now of both the P760 and original P770. Then they have the updated P790. No way Mizuno had anything to do with it.

Tried the original 770 and 750 up top but had to settle on the 750. 770 was to big 750 is a little to small for my liking my hope is this year I can fix it. The MC, 770, may help me in that gap (5 iron MC and 770 4 iron) . I'm a good ball striker but if I miss it it's low on my 4iron I hope this year's 770 will help with that and the MC in the 5iron will help it blend better into my set.

Claim to have added tungsten in the top to help with off-centered hits, but the back is sort of scooped out towards the toe. The end of the club appears to have almost no weight. These are designed for higher handicappers, but they are quite sensitive in vertical strike. 4 grooves of a difference from the bottom can see a 20-25 yard jump in distance. I've been using them in medals since the start of this season, and the more I got used to them the more I noticed it. They are either really hot, or there's drop off. It's probably just me and my delivery, with spin loft etc. I'm about 87mph ch speed with a 7 iron, so could just be me.

Have been playing P790’s for a little over a year. 4.8 index/ 66 yrs old, 98 mph driver. Hit the ball pretty high already so would the P770’s be helpful in any way? Struggle a little with the long irons but hit everything else really well.

Just got my 770s today, currently play 2017 790s. I really don’t see any difference between the clubs at address, maybe the current model 790s are thicker than the originals? . Was hitting into a stiff breeze, 15 mph, here in West Texas, there is always wind, the 770s where noticeably more spinny. Will be taking the 770s to my course in central texas where the added spin and control may come in handy. Honest opinion I wouldn’t have bought these if I hit them first, not enough difference to warrant the expense. I will post a few pictures if I can figure out how.

    Hey Boys!
Could you bend the P790's at the weaker lofts as these, and get the same results for spin/launch/land angle?

The price point on these hollow irons for all the major manufacturers is quite high. Could you compare these to a direct to consumer equivalent like sub 70?. They have a 699 pro iron that seems to be in a similar category as these but not so spendy. Thanks for considering.

Excellent video lads. I was immediately struck by the lack of mass behind the toe section of the club and how that bulge on the back of the iron tapers off at the toe. Any thoughts on that, it seems most iron design looks to beef up that area of the club.

Do you guys know when these will be available? I think your review helped confirm these would be the right ones for me and I’m excited to get to try them out @ my local PGA store.

Can we compare these to the HMBs ? Both traditional lofted players distance irons. Its going to be tough choosing between these two.

Comparable to Mizuno HMB? Just curious for the longer irons

Great video as usual. Is it possible to get some non-matted hits/reviews with irons? Just to see some real yardage and spins etc. I say this with all do respect, but when you gents are in the facility you’re hitting tour bombs, but watching you on the course it brought a bit more realism to your games and as a viewer. And again, I mean that respectfully because you are both good golfers. I can crush blades on the simulator... when I get to the course, forget about it. I’m like a first swing golfer. Anyway, would be nice to see. Thanks for the great videos and product reviews

lol they look amazing, but they are P790s that took a visit to the tour truck. Grinded down and de lofted , perfect for your 78 year old retired tour pro lol

We definitely need a Mizuno HMB vs P770 comparison! I was fit into HMB but these look outstanding. I prefer to stay away from the mainstream brands but this could change my mind

Would you compare these to the Ping Iblades? They sound similar in the sense that they are a blade looking iron with some internal tech?

@@ianfrasergolf you may be right but hard to tell from the Video. Have you guys done a review of the 0211's. Are you planning on it? Also, they do look good and it is time for TaylorMade to come out with a progressive set like Mizuno.
