Hey Pat I just want to say thank you for everything. Anytime I start to get discouraged or something just doesn't work like I had planned I can come back to you, learn a little more and get excited again. Thanks for everything.
Wow, using your 3-4+ years of experience to produce and market my passion at Chef and Father - 5 years of hard work but your advice is what I needed to take it to where I wanted things to be. Thank you! Amazing stuff. Thanks Pat!
I'm actually not planning on doing a Garageband tutorial specifically, since many people use all different kinds of software to edit, but in my next one where I export the file ,I'll see if I can add something quickly in the beginning because it's not that hard at all once you know how to do it. There are a ton of tutorials on RUclips you can look up though!
I know this video is old but the tips ARE so good 🙌🙌🙌 thank U Pat for your hard work and sharing this tips that I need to have with Podcast journey😊✌🏽 Blessings!
Tip number eight is so important. You say what your readers connect to you. One adviser made a comment that was to me negative. I like his info, but when i think of him, the negative comment is the first thing i think of him. Keep it clean.
This is really helpful. You have summarized everything really nicely here. Thanks for the time you will be saving me from figuring out the fine details on my own.
I have my own radio broadcast, and I am very interested in knowing as much as possible with podcasting. I find your videos to be very informative...thanks!
Wow! Very impressive! Have you done a video for what software you are using to teach your videos? I love your notebook templates. Is there a way I learn how to do this as well?
There is Genius in Simplicity. Clear, Concise, How To Advice. You have motivated me to do a podcast. I was wondering what program did you use to create the video that has the hand writing fonts that appear as you are talking? It doesn't look like Power Point. You have been a BIG Help. Thank You
great videos! Any tips when recording 2 people like in Good Mythical Morning? Need a special mic? keep the same setup just turn the mic volume up and put it between the 2 people?
Thank you Pat for this valuable content! I found tips #9 & #10 most useful because I'm having trouble speaking fluently and smoothly in my recordings. I literally spent hours one of my vids editing. I'll commit to editing less and I hope it's gonna get better!
Hey Pat really enjoying the Tutorial series. Fairly new to podcasting. Do you have any links or videos on properly setting up a blog/web page. Don't want to leave a crucial part out of the podcasting experience.
Hey Pat great content as always! Quick tip: it sounds like the audio for this video is coming directly from your camera? Instead, if you were to use your mic set up while shooting and then sync it up with the video from the camera, you'd get podcast quality sound with your camera. I notice you use it for the voice overs of course, but I guess this would help keep that consistency throughout the video. This is easier than buying a lapel/lav mic to clip on or something since you already have the set up next to you. Also, syncing the mp3 audio file with your cameras video file isn't as hard as you think. Some programs for Mac such as Final Cut Pro can do it automatically I believe. There's no shortage of tutorials on RUclips either. Thanks, keep up the good work.
Pat, Thanks for your quick reply. I just did a quick searchon YT and watched two videos about Garageband. Looks pretty simple, I think I can manage. :)
Pat, I remember reading it somewhere in your blog about the pro who does your intro voice overs. You had given out his contact info but can't find it. Would you mind sharing it again? How much does he charge to record a fresh intro for each episode? Thanks Pat
Hey Pat, I really like these podcast videos. I'm learning a lot and thanks for sharing. I have a quick question. What camera do you use for the podcasts you're recording. As I was watching this video I thought to myself "this video is very clear"
Love this mic tip - but I'm using a Shure SM58 with no pop filter. Any tips for mic placement and face placement :) for predictable and consistent sound quality?
I have to disagree with the audio tips portion of this video. Recording as "hot" (not going into red) as possible is an old way if thinking. If you're running a condenser or dynamic microphone you could record at just about any level and the quality won't suffer. The reasoning behind recording hot is to keep the "noise" floor down (static white noise caused by circuitry issues). Today's recording doesn't suffer from high noise floors anymore (unless your recording from and through analog). You should instead talk about compression. That will insure that your voice remains consistent even when moving away from the microphone. Jus an additional tip from an audio engineer, cheers!
Agreed. It's so easy to do a little bit of compression in many programs! While you don't want to overdo it, people are so used to the sound of compression in professionally produced audio that if anything it tends to sounds more polished/professional.
Nice video Pat, Please don't forget to do a video on how you record and edit podcast using Garageband. Or else, if there's any video or tutorial which you can recommend for the Garageband part, will be grateful. Thanks...
Is it crucial to have a blog in addition to the podcast? I'm doing the podcast because I see it taking less time than writing material that is on the verge of being academic. I have a career and family, etc.
Did you make the Garageband tutorial? I am having a hard time trying to get my voice sound pro. I got a good mic, but your voice sounds solid, radio style. When I use the Garageband effects (male radio, podcast, etc) it doesn't sound close to yours. I have a "bassy" voice on its own, however, when I record, it sounds different. In case you are not making the Garageband tutorial... any specific tutorial on youtube you would recommend? thanks
Thanks heaps buddy. I have lots to share but am struggling with the whole presentation part. I'm in the middle of a new tutorial and I was going down the over editing path. It was becomeing such a boring process that I had lost interest. I think I'll go for a warts and all presentation with as you say a few edits of large mistakes. You didnt mention notes. Another problem is that my notes have become word for word scripts. It makes me sound like a robot. I'm considering just using point notes, even though that scares me :) Thanks for your input.
Hey Pat - I just wanted to ask what software would be best to use for a Mac user that has an interface! I record with 4 people max audacity only lets me record with 2 people - what can I do😩
I'm all about the fluff, man! That''s my favorite aspect to podcasts like Last Podcast on the Left and Congratulations with Chris D'Elia. I think depending on what you're trying to do and what the audience you're aiming for would appreciate, fluff is a very enjoyable and expected aspect to a podcast.
B B, I hear what you're saying. I think it's all about matching the audiences expectations, and then making it great. If a person is coming to a podcast to get help on something, and it's 10 minutes about what they had for breakfast, that's the kind of fluff I'm talking about. But you're right, Chris D'Elia is a great example where fluff works, but that's a hard skill not everyone can be good at. If you are, them kudos to you man I wish I had that talent like you!
If you search for Creative Commons Licensed music you can use it as you please for free so long as you post the title, artist, and creative commons license
Thanks...I have a question ..I just started with podcast and I Can't afford any of the additional equipment. ..Can u tell me a cheap and gud web cam...?
You mentioned playing music you don't rights to, I want to start a podcast and play random music from artist that I like to listen to especially ones that are not particularly played on the radio. How do I get the rights or know what I'm allowed to play?
What if you were to use an intro that was custom produced but contained a sample of another record? Does it only matter if you're looking to monetize? Anyone have any insight on this?
You're handwriting is amazing. Very calming for reason. Great tips, thank you for posting!
iPad, using Reflection to Mirror onto my iMac and recording with Screenflow. The software is called "Paper" by FiftyThree.
Hey Pat I just want to say thank you for everything. Anytime I start to get discouraged or something just doesn't work like I had planned I can come back to you, learn a little more and get excited again. Thanks for everything.

In regards to the second tip, you can run your audio through a limiter or compressor to bring the peaks down
Hey Pat, can you put the link to video #1 in your description? That will make it clickable. Thanks.
Thanks, you're great 👍

How are you using Paper to live record on computer?
What app do you use for notes?

pat sup thanks for your vlog. i need a tip on using levelator it doesn't seem to work any tips?
Try auphonic.com instead. Levelator has become outdated.
