Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another PATREON request with R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion." So good to finally put a name to the artist who sang this song. It brings back memories, but also gives me some sense of sadness when sung. Lyrics are awesome, but the strings are like no other. The mandolin gives this that element which carries it off the edge, along with a singable chorus line.

A great song...I love R.E.M. try Everybody Hurts. They are so different. From Georgia...Their influence was great on my generation.
The whole of their Automatic For The People album is essentially brilliant.

This song/video won Grammy’s, American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards…..ALL of the awards. FYI, “losing my religion” is a colloquial phrase from the American South that loosely means losing my grip, or freaking out. Not being able to handle the current state of affairs.
This video is my puberty lol, back when the M in MTV actually stood for Music, a classic just like the song, love the album too. I think it's about a crush Michael used to have and this is him letting his crush know about his feelings through all the symbology in the lyrics, but like you said people read too much into things while taking them literally if that makes sense.
