I really love those old Mack trucks! I can remember seeing those being used for dump trucks when I was growing up! I’ve always been in love with the sound of those old Mack engines. Thanks so very much for sharing that with us!
I learnt to drive in a B61 Thermodyne Mack in the early 1970's, worm drive and quad box with twin gear sticks, no power steering, I was 11 years old at the time and it was left in our paddock when a new R600 replaced it. Unlike the so called "Mack" of today, the originals were built to run forever! Thanks for the memories!

Worked for a small paving company in Ohio-1974 and 1975. We had a very similar truck to haul asphalt.. I drove it on occasion. Our mack had a mack Themodine 711 cubic inch naturally aspired with Mack triplex 5 and 3, one transmission.. It was a converted 5th wheel tractor. It was geared too high for construction but never broke. Manual steering was horrible. These cabs are very tight for anyone over 6 foot tall. Your knuckles come very close to the windshield with the massive steering wheel. But these trucks are so classy and good looking. The engine in this being a turbo charged is very interesting. Drove a 1970 R model Mack tractor for this paving company also. This Mack had a straight 5 speed and a Maxidine turboed Mack. Mack always seemed to have a different way of doing things.. Great truck, Thanks for saving it.
Cut my teeth on a chain drive Mack B model in a metal scrap yard. Later a B 61 thermodyne with the twin stick. Spent 40 + years driving and owning everything form flatbeds to tankers to coal trucks and it was a fine profession.

They were slow but had a ton of torque. I don’t remember them ever being out of service and they were old in the 70’s. I drove a ford pinto and one day my boss told me to move the truck. Kinda frightening frankly.
It is a quite a different experience driving a Mack right after driving a Pinto! It seems I hear a lot of stories of these trucks being over loaded, That explains quite a few things about mine!
Camel back with elephant ears That’s old school it’s turbo charged endt 673 most likely a quad box or maybe a triplex or a duplex very nice use that compound box get used to it split those gears it’s a lot of fun she’s running like a Mack should there ain’t nothing like a Mack please keep us updated good luck

Those rim you have look like 10.00 or 12.00 x 24 and the rears are at least 58k pounds. Heavy spec trucks you can tell by is the cone shape that the axle sits in. What does it have for a transmission? If you’re looking for stuff for b models. I have a couple at home and have extra stuff kicking around I could possibly sell out here in Massachusetts. Let me know. Sounds amazing.

those old macks can have a multitude of things wrong with them and they will still haul a load all you gotta do is find some state that will let you use it .

we had a tri axle b61 years ago same shit. took two days of sand blast. end of day 2 we metal prept then rust olium primed it. painted her red. with red white cab. pickin sand off me for days. well worth it to us.

That's Donny Hoovers old truck from Pennsylvania. They used to deliver dirt with it. I hauled from him. That truck was on keyser ave in Scranton.

The mack b_61 was first introduced in 1953 and built til 1964 in 1965 mack introduced the mack r series which was built until 1985
