Great video, but for those of us who are seldom under the car, showing a quick demo of the types of bolts used to attach splash guard to car and a speeded up version of removing/adding the splash guard might be helpful. Loved the acting! "What is that noise"...lol. Thank you!
I swear it does! I thought it was the end of my car when I heard the noise. Tried zip ties for a while but I noticed when it rained, the force of the water under the car when driving caused it to break again. Finally getting it fixed the right way
Awesome, thank you! My engine shield on my 2018 Dodge Journey got broke, but no holes or any pieces missing. Temporarily, I put duct tape on the outside, but it isn't staying well. I am not much of a mechanic, and I have tight finances, so I was thinking of taking it off and repairing it. My wife does not trust my mechanical 'expertise' (as I am no expert, lol)! She would doubt that fixing it would work and that replacement isn't necessary. Having this video, I can convince her that repairing it should be acceptable! Again, thank you! I liked and subscribed!
Very helpful. A portion of my under body cracked and now the splash shield drags. While I wont fix it myself, it makes me feel better about : 1)understanding why it needs to be fixed, and 2) going to the mechanic to discuss the issue and price. Thanks!
Luckily mine wasn't cracked, or I would have had to take it someplace to get it removed to do the twist tie trick. Not everyone has access to a lift. However, the bolts holding it on my Honda Fit (cheap plastic) had broken off. So the twist tie solution was genius. You saved me from taking to a shop. Can't say thank you enough for posting this clever fix. Need I say that next to duct tape, twist ties are one of the best inventions EVER!
These splash shields are such a pain and overly expensive to replace. Great helpful video on how to patch it for free. Im going to try something similar. Mine is hanging and i need screws to put it in place. I used some zip ties like you. Amazing video. Thank you.
Great video! Thank you . This is exactly what I wanted to do with not large crack on mine. The problem is...... i do not have a racks or any worthy equipment to lift up the car for comfortable work. Was surprised to see the fuses box under the hood and not in the trunk. I have both - battery and fuses box in the trunk under the cover, next to spare wheel.
Thank you for teaching me something new (a woman). Not a pleasant sound when driving, but helpful to know what the cause was. 😂loose bolts or no bolts resulting in a currently bent underbody fabric cover. Now needing a replacement part or fixer-upper patch

Great video and explanation! My husband has replaced the clips/screws a few times over the years and it seems like every time the dealership changes the oil, the clips somehow come up missing! My car is a 2016 and now the shield is scraped up so bad that the holes are rubbed away and I have no choice but to replace the whole shield.
Awesome video! It's exactly what I experienced from your great acting in the beginning in wondering what the noise was! lol! I love it! Your explanations and demonstrations were terrific. Thank you so much for presenting this. I will definitely like and subscribe! :)
Very nicely explained. Technically perfect narration and presentation found to be enthusiastic. Thank you so much for sharing this information. Would love to see you in more such videos.
I have an 04 Sebring convertible and the holes that the clips go through have ripped and there is just no place to zip tie it securely. Is there some fix for this. I don't have ramps or lift so kinda need to leave it on to fix. Great video.
I have a Toyota Avalon that’s the same year as the white one in the background of this video… Oh how I would love to see the driver side interior door handle be replaced, or maybe the power steering rebuilt, or maybe replacing the visors… you get it. ;-) Keep up the great work.
Did the same fix with my wife’s 2013 Honda Civic Hybrid. The dealer didn’t attach it following a repair, so the wife drove around oblivious to what had happened. When I got to the dealer, they didn’t care. Here on our island, not much recourse or options, so I zip tied it with heavy duty ties. 5 years later, the shield failed further, so a drill and three more ties (one needed a pair to span far enough) and the shield is back in service. Repairs like this are our only choice, given the shipping costs to Kauai, Hawaii, if a replacement is even out there. When this fails, I’m installing metal straps across the frame to hold up the plastic.
Unfortunately it didn't do my wife's car any good a couple winters ago when she hit a large chunk of ice on the road about the size of a basketball.....it pretty much destroyed the plastic shield under her Honda Civic. I took it to the honda dealer to have them remove what was left, and they estimated it would cost me about $250 to replace what was destroyed. I used a sawzall to get some of it off, they had to get the parts that I couldn't get laying on my side in the garage, haha.
Mine (new) happend to catch a lot of water underneath due to a small city flood, just one street, and it developed a big belly wich goes like 3 inches lower than the original level, it scraps everywhere but...how do I fix this? is like having more material as it streched.
What can you do about the shields that are made out of the fiberous type material? Zip ties would rip right thru. I have a 2016 Sorento with this issue.
In the case of a 2004 Chevy Cavalier, the splash shield protects the belts from small rocks. Had this issue because mine was missing and one day I noticed the belt was chewed up and after removing it I found all these small rocks imbedded in it! Replaced the belt and splash guard and have had a issue again!
Hey good day . I am a fabricator and welder in trinidad and i made a shield for a toyota raize out of metal and people is concern that it will over heat can you give me a response to this please . Or even advise me . Thank you
Is there ever a back splash guard? Noticed I can see parts under my car and not sure if it fell off or if there was ever one. Can’t seem to find much online about it. Stuff just looks very exposed from what I last remember
Very necessary it's no joke. I just went through a giant puddle with no way to go around it or back up. It flooded my engine and it would have been prevented if I had a shield. So it's definitely worth it
I just got my car from my mechanic and a few days later after going to work I hear these noises and checked under my car and found this dragging . Will they charge me for this if I return it ? Or are they reliable ?

How do I fix where I parked my car to close to a parking caution bump and it scrapped underneath? Thanks in advance!

Happened to me twice…. Missing two screws, got it all fixed up, it’s a very annoying sounds, feels like the whole car is falling apart
💀 my 19 Camry just did this
How much of you don’t mind me asking?
Mines is scrapping pretty bad sound is getting worst been doing that since July 4th where can I take it for repair and is it cheap!?
I swear it does! I thought it was the end of my car when I heard the noise. Tried zip ties for a while but I noticed when it rained, the force of the water under the car when driving caused it to break again. Finally getting it fixed the right way
Yes, very annoying! It happened to me today. This is a good video but not everybody has a car lift.

This is great, but you did not show us how you put it back into place! How is it staying up? Thanks
Yeah. I need to see that part too please
Each car is setup different.

Brilliant video. Perfectly explained, cost-efffective and fun.
hahaha, the first 3 seconds of this video is pure gold, mate!!!! Well done
Great video sir, on my way to work and this happened to me today. My mind is at ease now that it's fixable.
What kind of bolts are used to hold the repaired splash shield back in place, and how many are needed? THANKS! Very helpful!
These splash shields are such a pain and overly expensive to replace. Great helpful video on how to patch it for free. Im going to try something similar. Mine is hanging and i need screws to put it in place. I used some zip ties like you. Amazing video. Thank you.
thanks man! got my license a year or two ago, and this is my first experience with a dragging splash shield. now I gotta find me some zipties
That happened to me I have a bmw and I drive like a manic lol zip ties did not help me
@@AJR19982 how did you fix it
How vital is the skid/splash shield? Mine tore away (parking stop block) and it's hardly hanging on.
This started happening to my 2022 ioniq 5. This helped a lot, thanks!
Great video!! What would someone likely charge to do this if we can’t do this ourselves?
And this has been your Roadkill Garage zip tie moment. LOL! Good video!
Amazing, but how am I going to lift my car off of the grown?😭😭😭
I have just changed mine. $32. Plus a heck of work.
How did you change it
Great video! Thank you . This is exactly what I wanted to do with not large crack on mine. The problem is...... i do not have a racks or any worthy equipment to lift up the car for comfortable work. Love 1A's videos, definitely my go to place for fun easy peasy knowledge!
Thank you for the quick fix! I have a jack and both plastic ties and heavy duty duct tape so I'm going to try this out on my 2018 Honda Fit 🙌
For personally ….that was a good video!

It's called a nuisance cover and if cars were made so that they are not so low to ground you would not need it, else cars become mine sweepers!
Awesome video! It's exactly what I experienced from your great acting in the beginning in wondering what the noise was! lol! I love it! Your explanations and demonstrations were terrific. Thank you so much for presenting this. I will definitely like and subscribe! :)
Who should i have look at it/fix it? Mechanic, Oil Change place, Collision shop?
Thanks mate I can fix my own splash shield now !
Good idea. My cracks are at where the crews are. Crack in middlebisnt very common
Very nicely explained. Technically perfect narration and presentation found to be enthusiastic. Thank you so much for sharing this information. Would love to see you in more such videos.
You're a freaking genius ..Thank you
Great tip. My slash guard is about like that. Now where do I find someone like you to help? Lol

You did great work with this well made video! Excellent helpful information that I was struggling to find before I found your channel. Thank you.
Hey thanks for sharing wish you guys were near me in Toronto need to get my splash sheild hooked back up
We have had this issue on a 2017 honda civic. The wire ties keep coming off. I did locate some metal wire ties on amazon, but haven't tried them yet.
EXCELLENT VIDEO! THANK YOU

Put metal washers where the holes are on both sides to prevent the tearing.
I ran over a curb last night....nothing fell off but it's lose on one side...

Damn, that sucks!
Bout to do this on a jack 🙏
Excellent video keep going..
What are the sizes on the screws? I need to buy them
Thank you. Good information.
you can also weld the plastic with the right tools
That's bro, very easy solution
How do you attach the shield to the car?
I had rebar from a parking lot rip out the undercarriage.
Great idea I have to try that sometime
Nice fix
Thanks buddy! I SMASHED the like button 😊

Zip Ties
Thank you 😃
Thanks needed this!
I tried flex seal tape -- came off after a couple days. So zip ties.
I would like to see a similar video for a 2016 Nissan Altima.

Great and informative video
good video, disagree with most of it in regards to the splash shield being necessary, but good video
It does more than stop water from splashing all over the engine. It also stops small rocks from destroying belts in some cars
Very necessary it's no joke. I just went through a giant puddle with no way to go around it or back up. It flooded my engine and it would have been prevented if I had a shield. So it's definitely worth it

What tool you use to get it off
I just got my car from my mechanic and a few days later after going to work I hear these noises and checked under my car and found this dragging . Will they charge me for this if I return it ? Or are they reliable ?
So what happened?.. did the mechanic cover this… same thing just happened to us.
The part I was looking for, how to re-install it, you blew right past.
Right, the most important part for me
What about some bondo ?
Hey man great Video i would also want to ask if The shield underneath the engine has also the roll to reduce engine noise really curious ;D
Good Idea .....Muchas gracias! 👍
Does replacing this plastic protection cover with metal create a security risk?
How do you mount it back up there once you fix it??????????
What do you do if it’s metal how do you fix it
